TabbyCatNinja Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I am trying to make a clothing armor mod of pasties with tassels. I have made my model in Blender and added textures, then exported FBX. The problem is I can't see my textures when importing to Outfit Studio. Any tips on missing textures like this?
myuhinny Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 @TabbyCatNinja The pieces need to have a texture pathway in the nif files as well as the same pathway in your game folder with the texture files in it. Notice how the body in outfit studios is rendered? That's because the texture folders are there if the texture folder was missing the body would look just like the tassels.

I'm not sure of where to edit the pathway for the Nif file. Do I have to edit the texture pathways (in Blender) before exporting a FBX to import into Outfit Studio? ...or is editing the pathways done somewhere else?
myuhinny Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 You edit them inside the nif using nifskope once you have made the nif and the pathways must match the texture pathway you made in your game folder. You'll have to use nifskope 2.0 or higher for fallout 4. You'll have to look on how to do it as I have never used nifskope 2.0 but I know the set up is way different then the old nifskope.

I may ask a little silly, but have you created a material file? As you probably know, the material file specifies the path to the textures. The error may be in the material file, or the textures may be saved in the wrong format. Make sure you have the correct path to the material file entered in the mesh. Then check the material file to see if it contains the correct path to the textures.
TabbyCatNinja Posted December 29, 2021 Author Posted December 29, 2021 @myuhinny Thanks, started using Nifskope. Its really confusing. but I'm starting to see the texture to appear in BodyStudio, but more tweaking is needed as it appears distorted. @poblivion My paths where correct in my *.BGSM file, but so far had to change them in the Nif, thanks
myuhinny Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 @TabbyCatNinja You should be able to load up the nif and bring up your vertices for the outfit piece and highlight the vertice group and click and hold the mouse button when clicking on one of the vertice dots and move it to where it's suppose to be on the texture file. But I'm not sure how to do it with 2.0.
TabbyCatNinja Posted January 3, 2022 Author Posted January 3, 2022 What is the best recommended way for exporting from Blender 3.0 to go into Outfit Studio? Should I export as ".obj" , ".fbx" or ".nif"? In NifScope my model appears white no matter what I do to add texture to it. (I dont know how I even got the texture to show in Outfit Studio the first time, even though it never showed in NifScope) I am 100% sure my NifScope settings is ok because I can view other mod textures with it. I think I'm doing something wrong somewhere in the process of exporting from Blender -> to importing into Outfit Studio.
TabbyCatNinja Posted January 6, 2022 Author Posted January 6, 2022 Thanks myuhinny and poblivion Textures are finally showing both in BodySlide and in Fallout 4 game, I can now continue to finish the mod. (Its weird I still cant see my texture in NifSkope. I checked Nifs of other mods and some show and some dont) Fixes: Yes a path issue in the .ESP saved in Creation Kit, it was looking an old path different than the ones in the Nif. One other thing is it seems to work if I only include each texture path in under the BSShaderTextureSet and not include a path for the "*.BGSM". So far this is the workflow done after leaving Blender environment... 1) Blender Modeled my custom armor with weighted bones. (Used automatic weights, because weight painting is a pain) Exported my model as a "*.obj" (Path Mode set to "Relative") 2) Outfit Studio Loaded the Fusion Girl Nude reference, then Imported my obj model file into Outfit Studio Choose "Save Project As" from Outfit Studio 3) NifSkope Opened the Nif that Outfit Studio in NifSkope. (The nif that gets generated in the "BodySlide/ShapeData..." directories When I configured values in NifSkope I DID NOT add a path to the BSLightingShaderProperty. (texture never appears in game if I do) Instead, added my textures through the BSShaderTextureSet node by including each texture's relative path in fields next to the flower icons. Re-saved the Nif. 4) BodySlide Opened BodySlide and navigated to my TCN Pasties clothing and build. Enabled my mod's ESP in Vortex, viewed in game.
