LOOT FE index errors

This is the specific error I am getting from LOOT. 

 

You have a normal plugin and at least one light plugin sharing the FE load order index. Deactivate a normal plugin or all your light plugins to avoid potential issues.

 

 

It only appears at around 330 mods.  Loot also says that with ESL the mod count is 220.  So, I know how to work around this to some degree, in addition to the solution Loot plainly states....

 

I guess I need to understand what triggers the FE index error.   For instance, plugins that aren't causing FE errors, start causing errors at a certain mod count.  I understand the plugin limit.  I also know enough about esl/esp plugin workarounds to be dangerous.  I am hoping someone who has been modding for more than a few months (like me) can help me understand the specific trigger and/or fix.  I have thus far been able to work such issues out on my own, but the FE index error info I have found is limited and lacking in a clear anwer.

 

Also, can the plugins that become problematic be "re" indexed somehow with xedit without corrupting data?

Yes, this happened without CC content.  However, the same logic applies to other plugins...yes?

Yes, ANY esl.  If you have ANY esls, you can only have 254 esps, but a nearly (who knows) unlimited number of esls.  So, you can go into your Skyrim directory and sort by type and count your esps (Pro hint:  Just select them all and windows will tell you how many you have selected?).  Then, check how many are NOT activated and subtract that from the total and make sure it is 254 or less.

Well, what I said before is that I only have 220 esp, the rest of the count is esl.

Did some more research on this and your issue does not make sense.  The FE in "plugin sharing the FE load order index"  is hex 254.  That means to me that Loot is trying to put an esl file into slot 254 instead of combining all esls and putting them in slot 255.  There is a 4096 limit on esls, and you have a total of less that 400 combined esm, esp and esl, you are nowhere near the the esl limit.  Sadly, Loot does not tell you which mod is causing the issue.

 

However, Wyre Bash just might.  I just downloaded it and it shows the load order and the index.   With it, you might just see what is in slot FE (254)

Sounds like a LOOT problem.  I can't be the only person who has dealt with this.  I don't use uncommon mods.

 

If LOOT is the stardard sorter people use, this is a pretty sad and glitchy issue that undermines the entire reason I would bother with esl's ..

Just suggesting to give it a try to find out which of your mods is in slot 254.

If you read with comprehension, you will see that I am saying, in fact that LOOT is the standard and such a quirky issue is evidence that this problem seems a typical.  Other painfully obvious reasons for the inappropriateness of your response and you clear inability to answer the question I so simply inquired about begs the question...you havin' a bad day?

Disabled esp count as slot. Check slot FE if it's used by an esp or if a fe, esl is not compacted properly.

I assume the last mentioned is your problem. There are frequently esp fe out there with this culprit.

Need towrite this, too.

Somewhere here is a post burried from a guy. He left all esp in, only disabled those. He ran into a similar problem.

People of MO said, it's not the organizer, but must be related to the game engine. All mods are listed, if you start without SKSE and show as disabled.

Here might be the limitation.

If I have problem with my game, my first assumption is that it is something I have or have not done - e.g. I started a new game earlier and everything tickety-boo until I realise that there is no creature sex going on. I come out of the game (which is why I'm here now) and check the SLAC version I'm using against what I should be using and lo! I dropped a bollock yesterday when I updated some mods including SLAC. It took me 2 minutes to spot my error. I didn't blame sailing rebel or Osmel or their mods.

FFS - that excuse is so old. The clearly-labelled SE section is directly below 'Skyrim' tech support and has been there for years. The SE tech support section is clearly visible at the bottom of the SE section.

If you want to get really picky then 'Skyrim' is the original game without the DLCs, i.e. the name it was released under. Skyrim Special Edition is the name that SE was released under.

No, I considered the possibility that she could be unaware that esls aren't for LE (that or she was in the wrong section). She could have said she was in the wrong section but she chose to say nothing about that and started waffling in an attempt to deflect things towards me.

 

As for helping here, other than my original two statements I can't say anything more as I don't use SE and know nothing about esls.

Not only esp but also esm are counted.
If you count the esm + esp (the fastest way is with Notepad ++ in the plugins.txt), are you still at 220?

The Plugins.txt is by default in your useraccount/Appdata/Local/Skyrim.
At Vortex, I don't know where the plugins are.

So that is an example of your idea of a reasonable argument? It's funny how none of your wittering addresses any of the points I made or even your Skyrim problem, instead it is just a collection of soshul meeja-type ad hom attacks.

 

Let us assume that you are running SE. If you were to post in the correct section then it would be a reasonable assumption that there would be users there who also run SE and if this is so then it would be a reasonable assumption that you would have a better chance of finding someone who could offer a solution to your problem. But no, you insist on posting in the LE section. I will continue to monitor this thread to see how far you get to a resolution of your problem.

 

A bit of free advice: If you have a technical problem it is usually a good idea to provide your LO and saying which mod manager you use rather than relying solely upon your writing skills.
