The Cult of Dibella

Guess I will also throw in my 2 cents worth: Dibella approaches you (dream/voice out of nowhere/directly appearing) and requests your presence at her temple.  "You have learned much about brute strength, but temperance is needed.  Your soul has become unbalanced, and beauty is fading from it.  Love is leaving you.  Please help me to restore my lost arts to the world, and in turn, restore them in yourself."  Heeding her call, your character embarks on a journey to revive life through love in a civil war-torn environment, healing the residents of Skyrim along the way as you also heal yourself.  I have more but I have already lost that train of thought as to a basic premise and overall quest line.

 

EDIT(s): Love incorporating not just physical, but emotional and aesthetic as well.  Painting, singing, crafting, dancing, etc...  Ties into bards, smiths, heck even Calcemo in Markarth and his research on the Dwemer.  This allows for quite a bit of creativity and variety in the quests so its not just another sex quest mod.  This would give potential, should the architects of the mod be up to the task, to eventually reach levels achieved like Grumpf did with CLS for Oblivion.  A large, thoroughly fleshed out (no sex reference intended), diverse addon that is also quite story driven and not just thrown together.

 

Also like Darsie said, the darker portion of it could be lumped in.  I had not noticed the briarheart/Dibella statue connection until she mentioned it.  Would need to verify this lore-wise if possible.  Could be something else that would draw people to the mod.  It ties in with restoring love to the land, as the briarhearts are void of love (removed hearts with briars replacing them.)

We could actually incorporate the in game calendar and have festivals - of art, beauty, music and eroticism happening within the dibellan temples.  Depending on the time of year there would be different options available to the dragonborn and different quests.

I mentioned this back on lovers comfort sexis thread ages ago, Redneck seemed to ring with this idea. I believe he will utilise something of the sort in future updates. Good ol' Dibellan instruction.

As for the calendar thing, it sounds great, but we might need to implement a way to notify the player. Otherwise a lot of people might not notice the holiday feature during normal gameplay.

 

I was reading a bit of lore last night and it proved my earlier point, people have a negative stigma towards Dibellan culture because of the eroticism practiced. This could really make an interesting plot that involves disputes within the cult and public opinion. Perhaps a part of it could focus on teaching outsiders that Dibella culture is more than just eroticism and that the eroticism factor should be approached in an artistic way.

 

The painting idea also keeps coming to mind as well. I also think that perhaps there could be specializations within the cult. PC could either specialize in the art of painting, dancing, etc. This could provide some positive buffs.

 

Someone mentioned a great idea about Dibella herself contacting you and such. The whole concept sounds great, however there might be a lore difficulty, given that the Aedra don't have direct contact like the Daedra.

 

All in all, everything I keep reading from you guys sounds great. Keep up the good work !

Have the girl as as the medium. Have her communicate, in a grand and suitably godlike manner, whatever is needed to be communicated, not shying away from talking about sex even though she is a child. Then, when it comes to practice? Simply have her say something like "This body is too young to teach you what you must know. The other sisters will tend to those things."

 

A kid talking about eroticism will be squicky as hell, but by handling it maturely and handing off any potential sex acts to more mature cultists, you've avoided the major issue and lent your mod some gravitas by not just ignoring the issue of a child medium.

Sanguine IS perverted. Sanguine IS naughty. Sanguine IS playful. And Sanguine IS cruel. Slavery, gang bangs, rapes, drinks, greed... Even if a lot of those things could be given to other daedras (like rapes for... uh... Damn, I forgot his name...), Sanguine is versatile and likes to play with mortals. To be a champion of him could be amusing. And remember we already have a lore quest for him + the impressive mod created here, on LL.

A quick read will show you that this isn't about just creating some naughty quest or some sex situations. The aim of this mod would be to present sexual situations in a more artistic way, among other things. The mod if done right, would encompass things like painting, dancing, etc.

 

Sex for the sake of sex is not the goal.

I would definitely like to see proper cults to all these deities and daedra fleshed out.

 

In terms of "Structure" in these Cults, what I would like to see and meet members at the cult sites and in plot encounters that showed members at different stages of advancement within the Cults. They'd have different robes/clothes, different titles and react differently to you.  Each stage of advancement grants different privileges and requires different things that you have to achieve. 

 

Consider or instance, these different responses:
 

"Hi. I'm one of the new initiates. What do I do?"

 

Cult of Dibella: "You are a handmaiden to the goddess. Come with me..."

 

Cult of Mara: "You must collect alms for the less fortunate". 
 

Cult of Sanguine: "The dungeons are this way."

They look fantastic - of course Appachi hair and Coverwomen complete the effect. I also de-aged Hamal.- so my Dibellan Priestesses look elegant and sexy.as they should do.

Where have you been reading your lore DrGrimReaper?  I was trying to look through the UESP but trying to find specific things in it was like pulling teeth.  I would rather have a site where it is cannon lore and only that.  No quest walkthroughs, no technical details about the game, just the history of Tamriel throughout the games so far.

In fact I tend to get my game tips from there too. Honestly I don't know why the other one even exists. It just seems pretty pointless. 

 

Anyway... carrying this post over from the Sexlab Ideas thread. Some ideas for quests for the Cult of Dibella (The cult part).

 

 

- Education: A male/female has come of age, and hasn't had a proper sexual education. The cult sends you to fix that.

 

- Soothing: A follower of the cult has recently lost a love one due to the war/bandits/dragons/vampires/Cod Players/jinsert problem here. You are sent to give them some comfort in their hard times.

 

- Convert: Try to convert a likely prospect to the cult by spreading the love of Dibella upon them.

 

The idea is that keeps with the theme of Beauty/Love/Sexual instruction, by giving the sex some underlying purpose rather than just being "lol sex for sex sake" (that's sanguine's territory.)

 

Another idea is in game dialogue that has them delve a little deeper into the cult's doctrine, and allows the player to just outright ask what the difference is doctrinally between Sanguine and Dibella is.

 

As for the Order of the Lilly you could put the more militaristic things in their. IE, rooting out Sanguine/Molag Bal worshipers, escorting priests to/from places (with sex afterwards.), etc.

 

 

Oh, and don't know if it was mentioned yet, but someone please get some better clothes for the priestesses. I mean, honestly... Why are the priestesses of a cult devoted to beauty and sexual instruction running around in tacky generic monk robes?!

Mod underway already? I didn't know if it was definate yet or not. Guess so if your asking me that! I was merely throwing those there so you guys can use 'em. A shortcut, basically. Or you could indeed ask them for permission and stick them, or some of their stuff in your mod. I honestly don't see why they'd mind. Mighht not be all that eay to get ahold of them, though. I don't know if they're still modding Skyrim, or even still browsing the Nexus and checking their messages.

I spend most of my time learning CK now (starting my own mod(s) soon as I have it figured it out), so I may try to make some Dibella robes, just because I'd like to see them in the game too. If (WHEN!) I finally have everything down to science, I'm gonna see to it that nobody needs my permission to use them. I'll be working on nicer, "slightly" more revealing robes for each different group of priestesses, but my point is really to make Mara: Goddess of Love. I said I was gonna start that one myself, and I meant it. I'm not gonna put all of the robes in that mod, just Mara robe remake/replace (not sure which). The others will be meant to be alone, or part of specific mods (just like yours, if/when it happens). I'll get back to you. I'm really freakin' busy right now with 2 other things in LL, but they're moving along nice and quickly.

Glad to hear that, if you need a beta tester at some point pm up. This is the kind of thing I would love to see, because don't get me wrong I love what this community makes, but to some extent I wish we expanded a bit more besides rape and delve into the other segment of what is considered adult. Of course I am not one to judge anyone, given my lack of contribution, tis just a nice suggestion.

Well, my Photoshop ran out (trial), so I'm paying on my cc tomorrow and buying it, now that I sorta know how to use it. I'm onto something involving the Dibella robes I mentioned, but I'm without a program right now. Soon as I get the robes done, I'll make them a seperate file just for you, and then I'm tossing them in my Mara mod.

 

If you want, my idea is to make a series called Temple Mods-by AwfulArchdemon, so your ideas would be plain awesome in this venture. I'm on top of Mara, and you're on top of Dibella, so you could be the brains behind Dibella, and I'll see what can be done about ? and ?. Who are "?" and "?"? Check out my ideas here.

 

I may even use a different template, but we'll see. I'm still learning, so it's not like I've already started making them.

If you have any really good robe ideas (pics), let me see them. This Dibella mod you speak of is what gave me my ideas, so I'd be happy to tailor them to your ideas, or you can use what I come up with, or just alter mine a bit however you like. I guess we'll just keep each other "posted".
