LordZero Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Anyone know what Facerim is? Seems like it is very popular in the asian modding communities. Google search leads to a empty homepage. I assume it isn't VR Skyrim?

(yes of all places ?) So no worrys, Todd haven't done it again (Thank god) ?

From what I can tell, one of the post has a "full" version that's around 100GB. Unpacking leads to 250GB. Other than that, it has no description of what it is or does. I think that's more than my entire Skyrim bank. And I'm not really in the region of downloading 100GB to see what this mod does. Though it is very popular, really no where I can find what it does and what makes it so popular.
Pamatronic Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Its a modpack. (shocker, I know). Contains stuff from all over the Internet, including stuff from here. I did download it once and skimmed over the Files (didn't even bother trying to get it actually running.) and can confidently say that you aren´t missing out on anything.

According to this Dictionary yes ?

I was thinking it was a huge modpack, but it had all these instructions that seem to be installing the game fresh with files changed. So I thought it could have been a "modified" skyrim. So basically, it's a prepackaged modpack with mods from everywhere? Do you know why is it so popular in the asian mod sites? Seems like everyone jumped on it when a new version was released this week. Has to be some kind of appeal, minus the new version.

Most likely because it is convenient and ready-to-play package for the illiterate. By "illiterate" (not meant as a derogatory term) I mean one of three things: mod users who have no idea how to install mods themselves and how modding actually works mod users who do not know a lick of English in order to read and understand the installation instructions (nobody's fault, English is not that common lingua franca as we in the general Western cultural sphere are led to believe) both of the above

All i know about it is just surface level stuff gained by combing trough the tullius channel, but it seems to have some special quirks. -It seems to have its own narrative. You can choose from 3 preset characters (male/female/futa) and follow a setout story. you´ll meet certain other characters which will join your party and are more integrated into the story. so its kinda closer to an JRPG. the overall character design compliments that. -more generic followers can be aquired via a gacha-game within the Winterhold academy. You can find gacha-tokens troughout the world and use them to "spin the wheel" so to say. -lots of lolly stuff if you´re into that. Keep in mind that this is not first hand knowledge and contains a small amount of assumptions on my end. And while its certainly sounds interesting, I highly doubt it can compete with a properly self modded skyrim or an actual JRPG. The lack of an available translation (as far as i know) doesn't help either. But hey, if you have an abundance of free time and are willing to give it a go anyway, there are certainly some people on here who would be interested in hearing your experience. I certainly would. But again, its probably not worth the effort.

Skipped my mind that some people from there maybe don't have access to those nexus mods or LL mods, or can't read the english from here and there. I have seen some users able to translate them and post on their channels on there. But still maybe a little amount of mods are translated. 6 hours ago, Pamatronic said: All i know about it is just surface level stuff gained by combing trough the tullius channel, but it seems to have some special quirks. -It seems to have its own narrative. The cute stuff that they add or usually have on the site are usually nice if done right though, like armor or presets :3 Maybe I will try it if I ever have the free time. I do hope they have an english option But holy damns, 300GB to install... That's the main turn off for me. I would assume if this acts like a modpack, there's basically only 10% of the mods that I would use. The other 270GB is a little dead weight to download and install. My entire collection is only 70GB right now.

Mostly for a niche userbase who want the aspects of a Korean MMO, Dark Souls, a photoshoot studio and a sex simulator, rolled into a large package... and of course, don't want to be bothered with trying to be patient with Wabbajack.
