First Time Modding Skyrim - Could Use Some Help!

I'm going back to Skyrim after about 5 years of not playing, so sorry for my ignorance! I've read a lot of the guides, including the one on this site, but I'm still struggling a bit.

I am experiencing CtDs quite frequently, but I do not know why. I experience them more frequently in towns, though this could just be coincidence.

This is my load order:

I have ran this through the "sort" function using Mod Organiser 2.4

My Papyrus logs don't indicate any errors other than a missing file which I think may be from SL Survival because I think the item missing is by the same author: "Data/SKSE/Plugins/StorageUtilData/Milk Addict/SlutClothes.json". I often see this missing file in the papyrus logs when I check, but it seems unimportant to me because it just clothes? I don't know.

I have multiple conflicts in Mod Organiser, however they all reflect the order in which I would prefer the file to be loaded, for example, I have "hydra_slavegirls" and "Hydra Slave Girls Tweak v", where the 'tweaked' version overwrites some of the files of the original. There are also some conflicts where I have orderred in the order of my preferred graphics. There are some files which I am less sure of, files from:

"Feminine Running and New Dash Animation" are overridden by "XP32 Maximum Skeleton extended"

"NetImmerse Override" are overrriden "RaceMenu"

"SexLabFramework_v" are overrridden by "PapyrusUtil_v"

I have not used Wrye Smash (other than to generate this load order) because I do not understand it, nor what it is for, despite having read tutorials about it. It seems useful if the load order gets too long, which I get, but I don't think that is the case for me. The installation instructions for SL Surivival state that it is "strongly recommend creating or rebuilding your TesEdit merged patch after installing", however I do not know what this means. I understand that it is a Wrye Smash thing, but what does it expect me rebuild or merge together? Again, I don't know if this is important.

I have cleaned every mod which Mod Organiser stated required cleaning and all of the check boxes on Wrye Smash are green, or yellow- which the tutorial for Wrye Smash explains as indicating that "All the package files are installed, but some resource (ie. non-plugin) files are not identical (eg. another package has overwritten them with another version of the files", which seems fine since I would have thought that the "sort" function in Mod Organiser would reorganise the mods in a way in which overwrites make sense.

Is there something very obvious I have missed? Or overlooked something important? I suspect that this is the case because I have read about people using much more complicated and long load orders on this website! I built a new computer some months ago which I thought would be perfect for a modded Skyrim, so its disappointing that I have CtDs so often.

If anyone can offer any help or advice, that would be appreciated thank you!

Let me suggest that you look at this:

Thank you very much for pointing that guide out to me. I can already see some small things from that list which I have not done (such as start the game without SKSE, and wow! The game looks so much better when it detects graphics rather than using whatever the default graphics settings are!). I'll go through it to see if there are other things I may have missed and try to run the game again.

You don't need NIO as it is included in RM these days.

This is correct. SLF contains Papyrus Utilities but it is an older version than the standalone PU.

Wyre Bash/Smash is not really required as far as making the game work. Some people swear by it for managing levelled lists and a couple of other things. If you don't have a merged patch then you don't have to worry about updating it for SL Survival (or anything else).

FYI the max for plug-ins (not mods) is 255 minus a couple the game needs.

I don't use MO so I can't help with anything there. Gamer Poets do a good video tutorial.

Seemingly random CTDs in Skyrim are generally memory related. If your game is not configured correctly then this is what happens. The guide linked above by Psalam will get you set up correctly and also give you some good advice.

Thank you Grey Cloud.

Yes. I followed the guide posted by Psalam above, and I am rather shocked to find that I have had zero CtDs in the past few hours I have been playing. In addition, the game is running much faster and more smoothly. It is remarkable and I am grateful for your help as I don't think I would have found or used that guide without it.

Oh, don'ttouchmethere, I am obviously grateful to you too! I have spent this weekend doing nothing but playing Skyrim (mostly modding it, but now modding for fun rather than to try to fix unknown problems) and have not experienced a single issue which hasn't been resolved by simply changing load orders. I honestly don't know what half of your guide did, but prior to it being posted here, I had spent many, multiple hours trying to track down what could be the cause of my CtDs, and to have all the solutions posted on an easy to follow guide (utterly necessary for a noob like myself) really is fantastic.

Here's a hint about using LL. If you put an "@" sign and start typing someone's name (like donttouchmethere) you will get a dropdown menu. If you pick their name out from that list ( like @donttouchmethere) it will highlight (like mine just did) and that person will get a notification. It's just a little help with communication.
