International Crisis, the world economy has gone right in the tank as millions upon millions of people have quit going to work, school or even out of the house due to the release of Skryim..........

....and in other news....pizza delivery drivers are needed to keep up with the MASSIVE demand!!!

I liked how when Geoff mentioned the Dog in Fable, Todd just makes a nervous laugh. How dare you mention that garbage with my MASTERPIECE!!

Read at your own discretion, interesting little spoiler that might ruin your game but not that big to the overall game.....I think.

Apparently Skyrim has an Ichabod Crane moment. One of the website previews mentions a headless horseman riding past him as he was exploring the game. He didnt stop to acknowledge him or anything but just rode past him, oblivious to the presence of the player.

*Goose bumps* Imagine seeing that at night when you are alone and traveling a dark road and the sound of hoofs start closing in on you, as the sound of the galloping hoofs get closer so does the glow of the object in the distance. Most peoples first instincts would be to draw their weapon and attack assuming running away seems futile(or greed gets the better of them).

*Hyahhh!!* Yells your character as he swings his weapon to slash at the object only to realize not only have you NOT even grazed your intended target but now it has you in its sights and plans to return the favor. And the only thoughts in your head are: You've done fucked up, son...

Btw the info stops at first paragraph, the other parts I interjected on my own but the point is that little things like this could make Skyrim the most fulfilling fantasy game experience in a long while or just another updated Oblivion along all the shitty things that it brought with it. I hope side missions are more organic and not just "go to town, talk to shopkeeper, get mission". How about making players encounter something first then opening the option for NPCs to give you the mission or just expand on the encounter and let the player figure it out from there.

Unfortunately the previewer did not follow up on the horseman encounter so idk how you actually get the mission or maybe its just a high rank special monster that you can hunt but Im tired of just talking to NPCs so that I can get side quests and stuff, let me explore the game and open the world up that way, I want to go to an area of the map not cause some guy told me there was something there but cause I saw with my own eyes something that piqued my curiosity and made me want to explore more. Then reward me for my exploration with a quest that would not have been available by regular means.

I have high hopes for the "Radiant Quests" system so hopefully it can give us a more satisfying experience and not the same old stuff we've had for 3 games now.

Well, you did get random event quests in Oblivion, it was just a matter of leveling up and hanging around towns.

Awesome, can't wait to play as the DB in Skyrim!

Just took a look at the leaked footage of the first 20 minutes of the game and it seemed like typical Elder Scrolls type of start (slave/fugitive/criminal thing again) I'd post a link but it keeps getting ripped down as soon as any links go up.

The game starts with you on the back of a cart being brought to your apparent execution. Just as things are about to go wrong for you a dragon suddenly swoops out of the sky and sends the village into chaos. As you escape you have to avoid the dragon while also fighting off the imperial guards that enslaved you in the first place. Eventually you make your way into a set of caves underneath the settlement where you come across giant spiders and a very angry bear. A little further on it ends as you are about to escape into the game world

Kotaku has the video here. It's footage taken from the 360, I believe.

Just watched a 90 minute video of the game and it had me feeling a little so-so about the game. Maybe its just because the way the player was playing the game but I didn't get a good impression of the game world. Very stale and it felt a little barren. Maybe I'm just used to the better cities and more populated world mods but it still feels like you have an entire city with castles, barracks, and stores but only 20 people living there.

Still very excited but I'm not as sure that this game will be as big a step forward as I would like it to be a half decade after the last game came out.

I had that same irk with Oblivion. There seemed to be more guards in towns than actual citizens.

I'm sure there will be population mods out there fairly quickly as adding NPCs isn't that hard.

Here's an 'about the audio of skyrim' vid: http://www.youtube.com/embed/QLnPwnJJcFQ which does make me feel better. 70+ voice actors in skyrim vs the 12 in oblivion.

That just made my night :)

The graphics and sound are no longer a worry for me... although some of the shadows in the game were very low res and a little questionable but I'll be able to live with that.

Well we will just have to talk Qarl and others into cranking out a texture pack to fix'er up!

I wonder however since most of the footage we have seen has been off of the 360, if the PC version will be upgraded?

Posted

Isn't that slightly concerning? Wouldn't you imagine that most of the footage would be taken off the PC because it should look much better on it?

Posted

They've used 360s in order to minimize the chances for a leak. Not many have modded 360s anyhow, can you imagine if the PC version would've leaked?

Population is of little concern to me at this point as I normally try to replace as many npc's as possible. Granted that will not be available right out of the box but its something I can wait for. The voice info is very welcome as now I can actually look forward to the fact that every other female and male will not sound exactly alike.

I will be looking forward to hi rez texture packs as after seening screens of the game at present, thats my biggest concern until I get some gameplay time.

Well, 70 voice actors sounds good. The best news I've heard.

The reason for the XBox360 demo is probably because that is the main dev platform for Skyrim. (Was announced some time back). The PC version will be a very linear port I suspect.
