Mashi Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Well we will just have to talk Qarl and others into cranking out a texture pack to fix'er up! I wonder however since most of the footage we have seen has been off of the 360' date=' if the PC version will be upgraded? [/quote']Apparently the initial trailer this one here: is PC footage: http://twitter.com/#!/DCDeacon/status/131368087294455808 So I wouldn't be too worried about how the game is going to look out of the gate.
polluxval Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 npcs dont talk about mudcrabs anymore. they dont interact beetween each npcs as often as in oblivion. also the population its great. they still watch empty places and look at walls now and then. there are still some minor ai bugs like npcs watching at u while sneaking and keeping invisible at the same time. (they are looking directly to you but the stealth indicator says ur hidden - you can steal in their faces) some quests lines (while talking) are already active even when u didnt talked to no body related to that quest. example: u enter a new town. the very first person u talk already have an active Question saying something about a secret love he/she have, but how in the hell did u ever know about that?? after some investigation u commence the quest by the regular way. that like doesnt broke the quest but seems weird. also, some monsters teleport from one place to other when they are very far. its not lag, they just move from one place to other instantly, specially near a river or lake. this doesnt happend very often. ps. information taken over the internet in some other forums, not tested by me. to avoid locking of the thread.

[/quote'] I've also heard the reports of npcs looking at you even though you are sneaking and hidden. Add that to the list of things I hope get fixed first. I'm always a stealthy/thief character and it would take me awhile to get over having someone look right at me while I'm ripping them off, the guilt alone would kill me.
Siouliusn Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 And if one NPC mentions "mudcrabs" I swear I will kill them right then and there...to hell if they are quest essential and it screws up my game! xD Exactly how I feel. We just have a few days left before the release, I begin to be tempted to buy it the first day now :§
Presto Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 A week left to go and its time for me to get all my random tasks done before I have the game in my hands and I lose all semblance of a social life. In the mean time I'm playing through a few major Oblivion mods that I've skipped in the past but fear I may not have a chance to get to once Skyrim comes out. I question how much I'll go back to Oblivion to be honest. Lovers and all the mods are great but I think the appeal of a new game will keep me away.

Mashi Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I'm not really worried. The toolset for FO3 was delayed, and the one for oblivion too. I'd rather have one that works properly than the morrowind craptacular crashfest set, all over again.

However, Oblivion's CS wasn't really anything to brag about when it first came out either. Hell even patched it still wasn't really worth a damn without OBSE. NVGeck I found to be fairly reliable so hopefully they don't go backward
Symon Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Oh! One of my predictions comes true! Honestly, no real credit to me and very easy to make. They developed on XBox and the XBox release can't use a CS, so dropping it off the initial release was a no-brainer. What did surprise me was:- a) they made such an unbelievable promise. Many gamers believed them rather than blow them a raspberry and ask them to stop fibbing. Hopefully they won't make people wait long, but...

gregathit Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Thanks Teddy-san! One of the vids has already been taken down but the 2nd one was still up and rather than spoil anything just let me say.....PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!!
Captain Oblivious Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I can say this much. While I can't post links, everything I've seen in the Let's Play videos looks pretty damn awesome. I actually like the "apple" interface, though. It's more my style, and I know I'll be able to get more info on the screen with mods. I was always in it more for the storytelling and exploring than the hardcore RPG numbercrunching. Your mileage may vary.
polluxval Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 i can only say its "great". battling dragons while in the middle of a town gives a totally and unforgottable experience of the game. bethesda i rise my cup for u this time.
Tobbe27 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Spoiler! Warning warning! Not a story one, but a feature they said was out but actually is in! You can turn into a werewolf in Skyrim, I just saw some leaked footage of it! Looked great! I'm not even kidding!

I never cared about similar features like that in previous games but it looks so good in this one that I won't be able to pass it up.

Yea, it is cool right out of the box....now just imagine 6 months to a year from that point what modders will be able to do with it!! Personally I want to see the incredible hulk transformation..... .....it would be epic to see him split his clothing and grow and then....HULK SMASH!!!! On a serious note watching the vid it really did look like he split out of his clothes or were my eyes deceiving me??? Talk about potential for the rape struggle mod!!!!
Tobbe27 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I just knew someone would think of the sex parts of it But then again, it's the right forum for it!
Symon Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Now the thought of real transformations beats dragons=cool hands down. That does make me think the game might be worth a look if we get a non-steam version.
LordJerle Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Now the thought of real transformations beats dragons=cool hands down. That does make me think the game might be worth a look if we get a non-steam version. I really don't see anybody's problem with steam. It has a very small memory footprint, only using 44 megs while downloading a game for me right now. I've never had a problem with steam activation, or downloading, I have plenty of New Vegas mods, though I can't play right now because I have one mod that keeps resetting the map when I exit the doc's house xD, and it comes in handy for organizing game sessions with my buddies, just as handy as X-fire. I've never had an issue with offline play either. And as a bonus, I don't have to crack any games I download over em.
sora3 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Looking at the ini files (and despite it is in garbled from the encryption), it does seem that Creation engine is a heavily updated Gamebyro engine but given my Xbox360 experience, I haven't suffered a major crash or game breaking bugs to be honest. So I'm having high hopes that the PC version will be similar but definitely not holding my breath though.
Presto Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 So there is a lot of debate on the other forums about the game and a number of issues. If anyone has any updated info on these feel free to share: - Limited perk points mean you won't be able to max out your character and you will need to miss many perks in a play through (unless you mod it) - Leveled loot is still in the game to some degree. Some items are hand placed for quests but many quest rewards are still leveled depending on the level of the zone you are in - Skeleton key is in the game but from what I've read it is only part of a quest and you won't be able to keep it after the quest (so that's me never finishing that quest) - Texture issue with the console versions if you download it to your hard drive and stream the game None of these are problems really but they will make me change how I play the game. It doesn't really matter since before the game comes out people tend to focus on the bad but once you have it in your hands you're too busy focusing on the good to even care. Once again I'll be playing on the console first and then moving on to the pc a few months down the line so all the issues should have fixes by then.
polluxval Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 -yea ,the limited perk sucks. so if u make a mistake or want to change the fighting style of ur char... ur screw. nothing a good mod can fix. -the loot system its good as far as i can tell, i found a nice sword almost at the very beggining based on luck. -i didnt find any skeleton key so far, nor the quest. so i cant help u here. -this one its tricky. are u talking about installing it in ur hard drive?? becouse i dont have anyproblem even with the game installed. but the install its only 3.6 gb wich is weird.
