Newbie Mods

Hello all, I hope it's OK to ask but I've been watching a few mod video's on YouTube and have been thinking of trying a few of them out but I'm not sure where to begin.

I've been thinking I should try our a race mod, a quest and maybe some kinky armors just to get the ball rolling but from what I've experienced from trying to mod Fallout New Vegas back in the day you often need two or three other mods in order to get the one you want to work, the only other modding experience I have was on Fallout 4 on the Xbox but alot of that sorted itself out at least until the game crashed.   :)

I was also needing to ask Skyrim special edition seems to be the only version on steam would that limit the mods I could download, thanks any advice is much appreciated.

You will likely experience the same issue with Skyrim. Most of the most popular mods have multiple requirements and, as often as not, those requirements have requirements of their own. It's nothing that can't be dealt with if you have a little persistence and take the time to actually read the mods' descriptions.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using SE. There are some advantages, in fact (that from someone who still prefers to use LE). Most, if not all, of the best mods have been converted to SE and the worst ones have not. Therefore, you are far less likely to run across the "gee, this mod looks like fun" only to find that it doesn't work phenomenon.

OK that gives me a bit more confidence downloading the game, hopefully I'll be able to get the mods to work.   The problem I often had with New Vegas was you'd download a mod that required a mod that required a mod that more often than not had been deleted, although hopefully here (and with a more active game) that'll be alot less likely.   :)

Yeah I'll definitely need to read that, I tried downloading a mod that had a new race, some attire and a quest all in one (apart from the requirements) and then the game wouldn't run.   I've had to uninstall it to try and fix it.

Will do, although is that the same as Vortex or are they 2 different things and will they work if both are installed?

BTW I should say I got the game to run again but I had to deactivate all the mods I have are one's to make other mods work, I'll need to spend some time figuring out what went wrong although could it just be that I've downloaded mods in the wrong order?

They are different, no need to use them both. Ditch Vortex, migrate your stuff to MO2 (or start from scratch) and save you some headaches. Trust me.
