Lexi SubZero Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 One PS2 game comes to mind... Way of the Samurai 2. Sure it was painfully short..but it had several possible ending and scenarios..and on top of that huge pile of swords to collect and master their moves. Love this game...still playing it on PCSX2 emulator.
TheArkady Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Most under-appreciated? I'd say ParaWorld, hands down. I think it was reasonably well-received in Germany, though even that seems to have been more critical acclaim than sales. The rest of the world? It's like is has barely even heared of it. The development studio got shuttered over lack of sales, basically, when it was one of the better and argueably the most unique RTS games in 2006. Child of Eden. It's argueably the only really good Xbox 360 Kinect core game (unless you count dance games or kids' adventures as core games). And it's a rail shooter that appeals to girls/women, something I didn't think was even possible. (It's also the only core game ever where I saw a promo girl visibly having genuine fun playing.)
jxm Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 the witcher 2 WHAAAAAAAAAA!!! The Witcher series in general is popular so how is The Witcher 2 an unappreciated game? Maybe he means Witcher 1? I don't think it was as successful than the sequel (bug-ridden as it was and all). I think the hype actually started with Witcher 2 though (surely the mediocrity produced by Bioware at the time had played a part in that as well). And of course DLCs and Patches all for free for both games helped Radon Labs tremendously too
PandaSong Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Under appreciated games.. Suikoden 1&2. They've got to be two of the best games I've ever played (and will still play multiple times). The feels in those games are immense! Also The Book of Unwritten Tales was enjoyable, but not many people have heard of it. Now to go find the games people have mentioned and see if I may like them. \o/
Spectre_15 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Here's a really under appreciated game, and not because people call it bad, but because no one ever knows what it is. Has anyone played either of these two hidden gems from the PS2? Couldnt find 2 images of closer size.

BruceWayne Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Dwarf Fortress The most complex game ever to be made and most likely never to be played by a lot of people. I've tried it and I really want to get into it, but after several tutorials and let's plays, I still have trouble to wrap my head around it. No graphics, no tutorials and no mouse support and little time on my part don't make it any easier. There are some mods that add rudimentary graphics and sound though, so there might be light at the end of the tunnel. One day...
cuceta Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Dragon Age 2 Too much repetitive, lacking history, limited equipment system.

meltedbytheun Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Someone is probably gonna slap me for recommending such an old game, but I never felt that Perfect Dark got the attention it deserved. No, I'm not talking about Perfect Dark Zero. That game sucks. If you disagree, then you suck. I'm talking about the original Perfect Dark on N64. Why is it good? Well, unless you have been living under a rock, you've played Goldeneye. Perfect Dark has the same developer, the same graphics, the same engine... pretty much every thing is the same except the multiplayer is much much better. Goldeneye only got the recognition because it came out first. Perfect Dark is better. I'm sorry, but it is. The campaign is pretty sweet too. An HD enhanced version is available on xbox live arcade. It is the same game, but all of the textures have been improved. If you like old games, and FPS', then you gotta play it.
SplitResonator Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 some people may disagree with me but.. Kingdoms of Amular Reckoning the company shutdown because they didn't make enough sales if I remember right...I loved that game I played the games story 8 times, yes there was bugs and some flaws but I didn't care I liked it for its great RPG elements.

I have to agree with that, even though I've not managed to complete it yet (thanks to my shitty laptop overheating during one of the boss fights) but I really do/did enjoy it. It probably didn't get as many sales as it should have due to it coming out around the same time as Skyrim
TheArkady Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Ah, Kingdoms of Amalur. Lots of great ideas, the combat gameplay certainly was novel and cool for an action RPG, but the world design sucked balls. Nothing that is not an MMO should feel that railroady even at low levels... and in a way, the entire game felt too much like some kind of bizarre single-player MMO experience. If they had taken 3-6 more months to really polish this thing, give it a proper single-player and more open feel, it could've been great. But then again, EA hasn't exactly been know for giving studios enough time ever since Ultima days...
Kpnut Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Iirc, Kingdoms of Amalur was originally meant to be an MMO
Nonsense667 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Metal Arms: Glitch in the System FUCK YES +DESTROY+ *Does the robot to the theme song* Spent SO MUCH FUCKING TIME playing multiplayer in that thing. That fucking level 3 nail gun. OP. Hence why I always used it.

Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 It's nice to see Red Orchestra mentioned, I couldn't agree more, that game is terrific and one of the best First Person Shooters on the market.
Adam Jensen Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 diablo 3 How was diablo 3 unappreciated ? even deaf people had heard of it . The same way TF2 and Terraria are unappreciated.

ds64 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I remember this coming out pretty close to Dark Cloud 2 and thinking it was going to be similar, boy was I wrong, but boy what an awesome game still! yeah, it's still one of my favorite games in ps2, dark cloud 2/ dark chronicles is one of them too. Maybe if my ps2 still working, I still play those games. I love that there is so many things to do in steambot chronicles.
