Trying to figure out what mod is causing incompatibility with Trade & Barter

Essentially, when the Trade & Barter mod is enabled some NPC vendors in skyrim have absolutely no gold in their inventory.

Trade & Barter was functioning properly up till around a few months back when I installed Deviously Vanilla, which was known to be incompatible with that mod, I have since then removed Deviously Vanilla from my installed mods, as well as several other mods I installed at around that time period, yet Trade & Barter is still not functioning.

I have cleared the overwrite folder and tried on new games, yet it never seems to work.

 

I would highly appreciate it if someone who has the time can look through my load order and see if they recognize anything that might be the cause of this issue.

All those Scarcity esp(s) are going to be overwriting any edits that Trade and Barter made to the merchants containers (which is what determines what they have to sell, and how much gold they have.)

I have tried reinstalling trade and barter, no luck,

and yes, I've only got one of each of the scarcity esps actually active, although they all appear in the load order regardless.

 

And do you mean that scarcity conflicts? That's new to me, I installed both together years ago and they've never seemed to cause any issues with one another before.

Just as an example this is an xEdit screenie of my bash patch

 

The subject is the Blacksmith merchant chest in Markarth the yellow box is the vendor gold record and what you are seeing here is that vendor (the Markarth blacksmith) has 1 share of VendorGoldBlackSmithTown. If you wanted them to have no gold you would simply remove that record or set the count to 0 (same effect). If you wanted them to have more gold you would set the count to 2 (or more)

So if you open xEdit and look in the container section of Trade and Barter you should see some of the records are red (meaning they are being overwritten) you can select them and see which esp is overwriting (I think it will be scarcity). The Plugin in the last column (in this example [FE 063] Bashed Patch, 0.esp) will be what ends up in game. Make sure what you want is in that space.

As far as your problem, what does xedit say with all loaded when looking in skyrim.esm under levelitem, we want to look at few entries starting with vendor

as Corsayr said, scarcity is overwriting your Trade and barter, you can move trade and barter below scarcity and probably just remove merchant item scarcity esp.

I can confirm that it is not scarcity, I even tested removing scarcity completely with no change.

 

Going into TES5Edit I seem to have found this? I will admit ignorance on this as I usually don't delve too deeply into TES5Edit or similar programs, but am I to take from this that It's Sexlab Survival that's causing the incompatibility or something? Although shouldn't it be Trade & Barter that overwrites SL Survival? I am confused.

Just a sidenote here: Is anyone else having massive issues with Loverslab taking ages to load and sometimes not responding at all?

Based on this, that vendor should not have any gold* unless there are any other items in the container that impact gold. SLS in some containers adds a Male vendor gold adjustment record (which is part of it's misogyny feature.) are there any other items in that container?

 

*if not you might want to try re-adding the gold record to the Trade and barter and setting it at a count of 0

Unless I'm missunderstanding something then yes there are other items in the container.

I assume you mean things like that salt pile that is listed underneath it?

Also make sure you are looking at the container record, this looks like the leveled item record which are the things you put into the container. That referenced by tab will show you the containers that have these items in it.

in this case the salt pile is not going to impact gold, but is that the only other thing?

Sorry, but mind explaining exactly what you mean here? just drag the entire traderoutes bar in that list ontop of the trade and barter one?

1. You missed something

2. some mod is injecting gold into those vendors via a script (which is nutz! no one would do that, it is literally doing something that is super easy using in game mechanics and making it super hard and likely to break.) ?

Now I am confused.

My original issue was that some vendors did NOT have any gold when Trade and barter was enabled, as assumably some other mod was interfering with T&Bs' ability to spread out gold according to its MCM.

I have at least confirmed that it is Sexlab Survival causing the issue by starting the game up with it disabled, which is a bummer since that is not a mod I wish to remove from my list.

Would set the form VendorGoldBlacksmithTown to 0 so even if that form was put in a container like the Markarth Blacksmiths container it should not give any gold to that blacksmith.

 

If there are NO other leveled list entries (CNTO) in that container that relate to gold that vendor the Markarth Blacksmith will have no gold to buy or sell items. 

 

My understanding is that, that is what you wanted. Then vendor to have no gold.

for the vendors that DO have gold, do their container records have ANYTHING CNTO items that reference gold? (usually have the word gold in the name) SLS does add a second gold referencing CNTO item to chests _SLS_VendorGoldMiscMale Which is part of it Misogyny system that gives male vendors more gold than female venders.

As far as I can tell when looking through, the only reference for gold in that list is that first bar, and a single one further down in the Traderoutes bar, but Traderoutes is made compatible with T&B through a patch, and works fine.

The reason I'm sure that it is SLS is because I started up a game with it turned off in the load order, ran up to a merchant that I knew was one of the affected ones without any gold, made sure T&B was turned on and active in the MCM, and opened the trade window (As well as performed the attack and reload trick to make sure the vendors inventory was reset), where I could see that the vendor had the correct amount of gold as per the T&B settings. Something that was not the case if SLS was enabled or if T&B was disabled.

Before you go uninstalling too many mods in the middle of a game, which is generally not a good idea, did you give these vendors with no gold 3 in game days for their inventory to reset?

 

Let's say you talk to a merchant now and he has no gold, you exit the game, remove a mod and go right back in game.  It can theoretically take 3 days of waiting/sleeping/doing something else for the merchant chest to renew itself.

This is a completely new game with absolutely no time investment just for the purposes of trying to figure this issue out, so I'm not too worried about game instability.

 

And I used an exploit to force a reset of their inventories that involves saving the game, attacking the vendor, and reloading the save.

Yes. Had it for several days. (I'm in the UK).

I had took a look at trade and barter in xedit, it definitely makes a change to the vendors, should not drag and drop into it. And you had it loading last, should be winning. I went into game with survival and trade and barter and vendors had gold they should of. Street vendors basically had no gold. But blacksmith,and apocrathy and general merchants(Belethor) were right with trade and barter. Did very little testing.

 

How long has it been like this?

For a few months, I managed to narrow it down with help to SLS causing it, as in one of the updates they added a separate male vendor thingie I suppose that messes with the containers in some fashion.

I have asked for further support on their support page, and hopefully someone there can help me, would be absolutely best if Monoman could create a compatibility patch, or include the parts of T&B that i like into SLS, but since I don't personally use the different vendor gold between gender variables in my playthrough I don't mind if there is a way to turn it off so T&B functions unhindered.
