Good job

but in the half underwear verison,  in the character build interface, the texture of the left chest will be broken when the camera is pulled to the farthest。

Hmm, strange.

Right, but the devs have any plan on improving that? Why is making it work in game difficult?Clothing physics?

Just a lot of things are obtuse and taleworlds has yet to explain them. Getting armor in game requires a bunch of xmls changes. For simple stuff it works fine though. Body armor works fine. Hand armor can't move with fingers so it's really only wrist armor. Luckily torso works fine which is all I need atm.

Understood, because a week or so ago I started seeing this:

So I'd like to know how things are going. Even got in some discord groups about BN modding but it was all historical/LOTR etc.

I'm a little confused by the installation. I downloaded NewSkinNoUnderwear1.5.3.7.zip and when I extract it, I see 2 mods, "NewSkin" and "NewSkinPre". Should I install both of them or just one of them? If its both, I assume NewSkinPre should be loaded first, correct?

Yes, this is to force some things to be loaded first. I forgot to add that when updating the description my bad.

I'm not sure I understand how underwear works. Meaning, I have installed the topless version, but if I strip companions they are still naked

Does the underwear appear only in character customization interface? Or is another mod making them naked? There is no underwear clothing item standalone

Just to clarify, you installed NewSkinHalfUnderwear1.5.3.7.zip?

If so either another mod is doing it or I fucked something up...

I'll install it tomorrow to check regardless.

I have installed the proper file, however the culprit might be the skins.xml file - in the meantime I've corrected that (I want to keep undies and bra) but have not yet reinstalled the texture.

Have a couple of questions:

- did you modify / improve anything other than the tits? if I want to keep the undies and bra, is there any point (any improvement) to install this texture?

- I want to apply a dirt overlay over the female texture, I know from FO4 how to do that on the dds file, but I don't know how to repackage it into tbap, can you help me understand how? is it possible to use loose files? (not packaged into tbap) if so, how / where do I put the dds?

- what would be the parameters for exporting the dds (from paint.net)?

TY!

"skins.xml" lol that file is the bane of my existence

1. Not yet, at least not successfully. Nope.

2. You can edit the image however you want photoshop, paint, etc. Ideally, you should export as png or tga. As far as I know, right now the only way to package a tpac is the bannerlord modding toolkit on steam.

3. Use png or tga.

So here is what you should do:

Download modding toolkit

Use TpacTool to export textures

Apply dirt

Save to png with the name of the file you want to replace ie body_female_a

Create module folder (in toolkit or get one off nexus all you need is a submodule and two folders Assets and AssetSources)

Launch toolkit with module enabled

Import file

Optionally, Publish

Thank you very much for the detailed explanations, crystal clear!

My problem right now is that I'm not able to launch the modding toolkit, it crashes on launch and I'm googling for potential reasons. So far I've found 2 possible causes, each is a pain to verify:

- does not work on beta (?) - I am on 154b, I don't want to revert

- does not work with mods enabled (?) - again, don't really want to mess with that

- something else yet to be identified

Are you able to launch the modding kit on beta with mods enabled?

This one.

Unfortunately you have to either wait for 154b to be the main release or revert.

Well, it took me long enough to get a stable mix of mods on 154, not planning on messing it up. Any idea from past experience, how long does it take for a beta to reach production status?

May I please ask for a favor? Can you please upload the vanilla male and female base textures (with underwear) so I can try to apply an overlay, then package them into tpac so I can test them in-game? If it's not too much bother.

Also another question (sorry, I am new to this game but I love the modding potential): I am playing with a mostly barefoot population after substantial xml edits. What bothers me is a gap between leg and pants, somewhere below the knee, for the empire tunic - how hard is it to edit the clothes meshes, make the pants a little longer, or the leg a little higher, and which tool would it require? FO4 had the most excellent bodyslide tool, no idea how bannerlord meshes work - are they still nif files?

Also what I've noticed is that no matter how I edit the x, y, z scales of the foot in skins.xml, the actual foot does not get longer, just wider or narrower. Same question, which tool would I need to edit the foot size?

Thanks a lot for your patience and help!

1. No idea when, should be soonish?

2. The underwear is completely separate from the body. I can upload the textures though. The issue is for the base game there needs to be a runtime version, and the base game won't make them. If you have good internet, you could untick your mods, load current version of bannerlord, make mod, then go back to the beta and retick mods.

3. Nifs are for the Gamebryo game engine. Bethesdas Creation Engine is based on Gamebryo. Most Bannerlord models are FBX but some blender users make DAE files (they shouldn't though). The issue with clothing is that there is a system to make footwear glove armor work together by have tucked in versions. They also hide bodyparts (Body, Feet, Hands, Head) to prevent clipping through clothing. Making pants longer would potentially cause clipping with the leg, and making it shorter would leave a see-through gap between the foot and the clothing. The solution is to have a portion of the body built into the clothing, and hide the real body version. This would require some modeling knowledge, but isn't super hard.

4. I am not sure about skins.xml Perhaps something is preventing the feet from getting longer? Should be the Y value.

Made a test version with a dirt overlay I had from FO4, for sure not the best I can find but for test purposes should be fine to see how it behaves in-game

Problem is I still crash when I try opening modding tools (crashes at launch screen), although I am not on beta anymore (1.5.4 stable). So can you please help me with the tpac?

I'll try googling more about opening the damn kit

Thanks a lot!

LE: added another test version. My modding kit still crashes on launch with no mods enabled...

Here you go, tell me if I fucked something up.

Sorry this took so long, have been quite busy and will be busy for 2-3 more weeks. I like helping out so don't feel reserved with asking for it, but it might take me a few days to whip things up.

And with making the editor tools work, not sure, make sure to verify using steam and see if you are missing any redistributables.

Note: Don't have both in your modules folder at once, bannerlord isn't fond of duplicate names. You could edit the submodule to change one of the names though.

Note 2: You could use a painting program to avoid seams, I think there is a free 30 day trial of substance painter.

Thank you! No worries about taking your time, I do appreciate the help!

The sole dirt looks almost decent, so I am attaching a new version with just that (tweaked a bit), if you could please package it too. The others look to be a little above my skillset to fix. I've never been able to do textures, just played with overlays.

Are you able to launch the modding kit with mods installed?

Thanks!

Managed to launch the modding kit (reinstalled vcredist64), managed to create a module with a texture override, but it looks warped in-game using the file posted above.

In the editor it looks fine

I am guessing I need to specify some parameters when importing?

Create or enable a mod. Import the file into the mod with the exact same name, or rename it to have the exact same name. To use outside the modding tools you have to replace every texture in a material. For body_female_a this is:
body_female_a_d

body_female_a_n

body_female_a_fat_n

body_female_a_s

AHA!! Splendid, it works!! Thank you!

Attaching the mod file if anyone else is interested

Now, the next challenge is editing meshes. It exports "trf" files, I need to figure out how to edit these
