Why does it request internet access?

RTBP listens on ports 8008 and 8009 to communicate between RTBP Commander and the Sims 4 respectively. All this communication is internal, none of it leaves your computer. It just needs permission to bind ports.

Port 8008 is used by the Command Server to receive commands from RTBP Commander, the tool that allows you to change settings on the fly.

Port 8009 is used by the Simulation Server to receive messages from the Sims 4 script mod part of RTBP. It tells RTBP about changes to the Sims 4 simulation, like when the speed changes or a new sim is added.

My copy of TBP is saying this "Unable to connect to RTBP's simulation server: [WinError 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
Attempt 1/10. Retrying in 10 seconds." how do I get it to connect to it's simulation server again?

RTBP has to be correctly installed and the Sims 4 has to be running. If RTBP is installed correctly, you'll see the logo in the upper left portion of the screen.

It might take a while for the connection to be established. If RTBP isn't able to bind the port for the Command Server for one reason or another (somewhat common), it'll try again in a few seconds. If RTBP Commander can't connect to RTBP, it'll try again in a few seconds. Give it a little time.

yo idk if I got something wrong or I downloaded it incorrectly, but after trying the methods posted on here to get RTBP running after the update, it still crashes on me. I have tried running it through the TS4_DX9_x64 launcher, nothing. I tried running it on a cracked version, through its TS4_DX9_x64. nothing. I'm pretty much at my wits' end. All I've got from trying all this is the same issue as DaBearsLL, "Unable to connect to RTBP's simulation server: [WinError 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". I took a look at the log as well, it tells me it hooks fine, I guess? What am I supposed to do??

Looking at your log, I see that you're using Microsoft's OneDrive service? Is that correct? I'm not sure how said service works, but I can't guarantee that RTBP is compatible with it. Does it automatically synchronize or something else? RTBP was designed to work with real, local files, not virtual ones. If you're storing files in the cloud, I'm not sure how well that's going to work.

That seems to be the case, I'll try and see if anything changes if I adjust stuff around

Well I've tried unlinking and getting rid of onedrive, it seems to be still not working. And from what I can tell, it seems to auto synchronize without me doing anything? I'm not even sure what the problem I'm having is since I used this back in april and I didn't have to do anything in depth like this to get RTBP running so I'm confused as hell

It works. However, I always need to set testAltBreastPhysics1 and testAltButtPhysics1 in the debug Flags for the physics to take full effect. Is there a way to save these, or do I have to check them every time I start the game?

Oh, btw! And there is the shadow problem, unfortunately. The mod is absolutely amazing. When you fix these things it will be one of the best mods ever created for the sim! Good job.😃

You can set the debug flags to automatically enable in the settings.ini config file. see example.

Thank you! That's what I was looking for. I thought that this is how it works, but wasn't sure, so I'd rather ask again. Any fix for the shadow bug on sims with the physics, or are you still working on it?

Still working on the shadow issue. This is a high priority for me. Hopefully this will be part of the next release.

Heh, heh... I'm trying to fix the shadow issue and doing some experimenting. It's always hilarious when an experiment backfires so spectacularly.

You can make a mod called Poltergeist ^-)

XD That is hilarious! Now the entire apartment has jiggle physics! Good to hear that you are on it!

Hi there, before i 'complain' i want to say, great work..

Ok complain time!

I was using this mod last night, then today the game won't boot unless i remove this mod and it's components.

i have these mssages in the associated logs:

D3D9 version requested: 32
[RTBP.INFO (Direct3DCreate9) 00:15.058] Doing version migration if necessary.
[RTBP.INFO (Direct3DCreate9) 00:15.058] Hooking Direct3D 9...
[RTBP.INFO (Direct3DCreate9) 00:15.058] No usable custom D3D9 DLL found. Using system default.
[RTBP.INFO (Direct3DCreate9) 00:15.058] Using DirectX DLL file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3d9.dll"

(definitely shouldn't be happening i assume)

and:

Unable to connect to RTBP's simulation server: [WinError 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
Attempt 10/10. Retrying in 10 seconds.

I can't fathom what has changed, i had a windows defender update today but i am letting sims 4 through the firewall..

I also looked at every file of this mod, and i did notice a message in properties to effect of'this file might be blocked for safety' i unblocked every file associated with the mod in every directory... but game still doesn't start..

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

I fixed it, by renaming the d3d9.dll itself to GShade64.dll, this allowed your mod to detect it and load it again, but seriously it worked before as d3d9.dll and then didn't, so i used one of the other supported names for a custom dll... no idea why i had to end up doing this but hey it worked.

The log file snippet you posted is normal if you aren't using ReShade or GShade or any other custom DLL in conjunction with RTBP. RTBP will choose the system DLL if nothing else is found. Why it's not working with the system DLL, is beyond me, though. I think someone else had this problem before and they updated their graphics drivers and that fixed it.

And you got it to work by getting RTBP to load RTBP? That's interesting... Anyway I could see your full log file? Thanks.

Hi there,

there isn't anything illuminating in log file, i showed everything that was in it.

Ironically the only change i did make before the error occurred was to download intel's arc control center and update drivers from there - (recently sold my gpu and i am using intel integrated graphics, which apparently benefit from intel arc drivers)

Yeah this was a really weird one, but i'm content with this as practical fix, sorry i can't provide any info to you that would help with the core issue. All i can surmise is that at some point the d3d9.dll wasn't being loaded properly, and changing the name to one of the supported custom .dll names allowed the mod to load the dll.

It could somehow be to do with me using drivers from arc control center...  it's the only change i made.

Find "...\Game\Bin\GraphicsRules.sgr". This will be in the same folder where you find "TS4_DX9_x64.exe". Find the line that says "setProp $ConfigGroup EnableSoftwareSkinning true". Change the "true" to "false". The RTBP installer can do this for you automatically. Try it out and see if it fixes things.

Ah i should have mentioned, i already did that, it was never necessary for the igpu, i tried it at each stage nonetheless..

Actually, it just occurred to me, i never really confirmed if everything works in game with the method i used... i know the game loads the mod though.

Update:

OK so this enabled the game to load, but actually the mod isn't working, which makes sense, so yeah i don't know how to fix :(

update 2:

i definitely think it's to do with intel drivers, i found this in windwos event viewer:

'Faulting application name: TS4_DX9_x64.exe, version: 1.107.151.1020, time stamp: 0x665a58a3 Faulting module name: igd12um64xel.dll, version: 31.0.101.5592, time stamp: 0x66725943 Exception code: 0xc0000409 Fault offset: 0x0000000000ed0788 Faulting process ID: 0x0x700 Faulting application start time: 0x0x1DAD9C7FE1CCC5C Faulting application path: E:\Steam Library\steamapps\common\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_DX9_x64.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\iigd_dch.inf_amd64_6b10ae7f2f9034c5\igd12um64xel.dll Report ID: 53fda3b2-2cd5-444e-94c6-2ab0f35d6780 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:'

so i think it's clear this is something on my end, why on earth would it work and then not work otherwise?

Anyway i am sure i can get it sorted.

Update 3: FIXED, needed to do deep uninstall of intel drivers, and then windows downloaded intel drivers fixed it. it's working in game..
Sorry to take up your time, but for anyone else with this peculiar issue, this might be useful.  (use the driver exe you downladoed, and let it unistall everything then restart pc)

Glad you got it fixed. I don't know why this happens sometimes. At least you're not the only one that's had problems like this. Anyway, enjoy.
