Kandagawa Jet Girls

Well, I got bored so I decided to mess with UABE a bit and did manage to replace textures and remove some swimsuits.

It's not all good news of course, but I'll include some pictures.

I found Hikage's Swimsuit to be the best choice to remove so far, because the backside is completely bare, but I've only tested about 4-5 costumes out of 60, I think?

Of course, if you turn her around, the game culls out her crotch and boobs, which is a pretty big deal breaker. I don't really know what steps can be taken to get around the culling, but it's pretty likely we have to figure something out in that regard.

On the bright side, it's pretty easy to ignore while racing, but just about anything else will ruin the illusion.

I can't say for sure, but I still think there might be a full body somewhere in the files, I just don't know how to take advantage of it even if we do find it.

 

P.S. This game's skin textures are great, especially the way they handle the shine from lighting. I kinda wanna see them nude just because of that alone.

I haven't found the skin textures in the files, though I doubt they have any genitals anyway. Even if we drew them on, they'd get culled out.

I just haven't looked hard enough yet.

Bravo, Tehman4!

Amazing job. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

I took some time while playing the game to toy around with accessory placement. I like the way it works except for one small thing, doesn't seem that we can parent items to the breasts or buttocks as we could in Senran Kagura. It was always a simple shortcut to resize things the same color as the nipples to create a believable protrusion, but I guess that may not work this time. The way you can reposition items reminds me of the customization in some of Bandai Namco's "Tales of" series more than Senran Kagura's.

@Planus Since right now we only have CE to adjust the float points in real time, can you give a list of searchable strings for the characters? I have no idea how to find them myself without manually browsing the memory up and down from the Rin location quite a lot.

 

I had a look at the files but without more than one character's hex strings I am getting nowhere and I don't know how to get them from memory myself.  Counting on you, Planus.

One detail I noted is that all of the characters start the memory blocks tied to their body data with a name value that drives what name shows on the UI.

 

Rin's is 2F 02 00 00

 

all of the characters follow that patter, and they increment up from 2F up to 48. so 30 02 00 00, 31 02 00 00

 

it's followed by 4 bits of 0 and then the id for the characters face which starts at 01 and increments up to 19

 

the character data is located in two continuous section it seems

Block one has Rin is at the bottom up to Kamui at the top.

Block two has Naraku at the bottom up to Mirai at the top.

 

it probably wouldn't be hard to put together a table to fetch the values, but I'd have to look into how tables are made as I've never made one before

 

From what I can gather so far the ordering of the names is based on the way they're ordered in the dressing room

it makes them fatter or thinner depending on the value, it does work with negative values as well. The same is true with the bust value, where negative numbers can make the characters flat.

Even if there isn't a complete body in the files, It should be possible to stitch one together, it's how DOA modding got started IIRC.

 

I've even found 3 different costumes that'll make an almost complete body already

A good base body would probably be Manatsu's Racing Suit, She's the tanned delinquent girl, and her outfits are number 9 in the files.

Her body from the waist down is all there (save for a tiny hole where the clit would be, though it's hard to see most the time)

An obvious problem is that her back is missing, as well as the centre of each breast, but I picked her as a base, because her breasts are the most complete I've found so far, and the hole missing is a simple rectangle rather than a mess of squares

As I pointed out in my last post, Hikage's Swimsuit has the entire backside filled in, so you can just fill the hole of Manatsu's back with Hikage's back and now the only holes are the breasts and clit.

Interestingly, Manatsu's School Uniform has more cleavage than her swimsuit, and will actually fill up the inside half of the breast's holes.

So now all I need to find is an outfit with a considerable amount of side-boob leaking out, and it might be able to complete the breasts.

Even if that outfit doesn't exist, the hole's left behind are small enough that I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to just manually fill them in.

Besides, there's not going to be an outfit with the clit left in, because they never show that part to begin with, so some manual filling in will be necessary regardless.

 

As for the skin textures, I found textures labeled "Skin" but there's a bunch of them, and I assume they all get overlapped on each other by the game.

I haven't checked it yet, but I think this texture might let us draw on nipples and a clit.

Hard to say for sure though, that skin strip might just be there to remind the artists on what part of the body they're working on. but none of the other textures have any noticeable bits of skin, it's all just shading.

 

I'm gonna have to spend some time racing so I can unlock more outfits to check the bodies of, I don't have any knowledge in 3D modelling, so I have to check the bodies in game.

As a small tip for anyone desperate, if you remove the skirts off of the outfits, and then the panties of each girl after that, almost each outfit has the waist down to their socks filled in, so you can make each girl bottomless with minimal effort.

Or you could leave the panties on if you'd rather, each girl has their own set regardless of the outfit they're wearing, so it can add a bit of variety. That way you don't have to get your immersion broken every time you see the hole where their clit should be.

There isn't any file to post for the scales (other than the cheat engine table) because there hasn't been any file identified that has the scale data. The modifications that have been done so far were made using memory edits via cheat engine. If you want to replicate the results you will need to use cheat engine as well. The table by Kuugen makes it easy to do.

I'm thinking we should look at unorthodox ordered sequences like "ID Body 00 00 00 00 ID Body 00 00 00 00" and then later it follows with the same sequence of ID Head.

Or the sequences in reverse, perhaps with zero termination space in-between.  I do think we can probably rule out the shared assets.

I'm honestly not sure. I ran replaces via a hex editor on every match I found in the resources, shared assets, etc. for the 4 byte value for Rin's body scale, and surprisingly it neither broke the game nor had an effect on her scale.

 

It could be possible that they're stored somewhere with different endianness

I decided to try a replace based on Rin's bust value in the resources file since the body value didn't accomplish anything and the result was . . . different

Presumably I wound up overwriting some of the data for the vertices on the meshes, I don't think this has any relation to body scale

Since this is essentially a Senran Game, in Senran, the files are stored in reverse order. 

3F75C28F becomes 8F C2 75 3F in the files. This has been true for almost or literally every Senran Game. And I think this is true here too. This only applies to the actual parameters itself, so Body -> Head -> Bust would still be how it is ordered, just every value in reverse.

I don't really have much new to post yet, and honestly, I've basically done all I can already. I already mentioned I have no 3D model skills, so I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping someone else stitches that body together, like everyone else.

 

But anyway, I'm posting because I had some, uh... shower thoughts I guess. About the Skin Textures. I realized I over-complicated the way they worked, because I was lazy and didn't actually look too closely at them, besides the one I posted last time. Lemme show you what I mean.

So last time I posted this texture, I saw some skin colour and assumed, "Oh, that must be the one texture that dictates the skin colour and all that stuff, right?"

Again, was lazy and just posted that without really looking into it, I was already kinda getting bored from swapping swimsuits with invisible textures at the point.

 

The fact that the only skin I saw was that thin strip kept bothering me though, so I kept thinking about it in the back of my mind, until eventually I realized.

Homura.

It's Homura's tan.

They drew in a strip of skin so that they can give the illusion of a tan-line.

Thinking about it more, I realized that the skin colour is probably just a solid colour pasted over the whole body, and then the shading of this texture does the rest of the work.

Ultimately this doesn't change anything, and since I now know for sure that colour gets taken into account with this texture, it's almost certain this is the texture we'll use for the genitals. Kinda obvious, but I can never be too sure.

 

So anyway, if that's just for Homura's Tan, then what about everyone else? It's pretty obvious where this is going, but I still checked just to make sure.

First up, we got this texture, It's similar to Homura's, but without the tan of course, and less shading around the breasts. It doesn't take much thought to know this is for the small breasted girls, like the Hell's Kitchen team, Untransformed Ryobi, and Mirai of course.

Following up that one is...

The standard body texture, used by basically everyone. Not much to say here, so moving on...

We have this texture. It was kinda hard to tell what was different between the last one and this one. I thought it might've been for that chunky maid girl with the pink hair, but there wasn't a noticeable increase in shading around the breasts...

Hmm... The breasts...

Then I noticed, There's a tiny black circle on the right breast. Or left from the girl's perspective.

Not actually sure who uses this texture, I tried checking, but didn't notice anything, so I guess it went unused?

Moving on...

This is the final skin texture, besides the normals and speculars of course.

You've probably figured out the pattern by now.

Normal sized breasts, and a tattoo, who could it be but Hikage?

 

So there, when it comes time to draw some nips, these are the 5 textures that need to have them added.

Maybe only 4 because that one with the mole I'm still not sure about, but might as well do it to be safe, since they'll all be in the same position anyway.

 

I guess if someone wanted to get a head start and just start drawing, go ahead, just remember we can't really check them yet. You can just save it as a .png when you're done, it doesn't really matter when it comes to the textures, you can just throw whatever in there and Unity will do the work for us.

For the 3D model, we still need to some work to get a complete body. All the mess(50 in total) still missing little breasts path.

 

You can use UABE to extract it. I think all characters use the same body, the difference is the customs they wear, this will affect what model will be use. For more detail, we can use Asset Studio to get what model come with what custom.

 

Btw, this just the overlap import mesh to demonstrate the 3D Model
