How should we use this? admins, mods, layout, etc...

Recommended Posts

Curious to how folks think we should use this.  Lovers Lab does have some limitations, namely when you add too many categories things on layout get weird.  I like the way files are setup though.  Anyway I made a couple of familiar faces from the garden mods, but if anyone wants to help please let post it here.

I think we should use it as a backup server for the periodical downs of the garden. If more stuff is posted here we will get an own section/topic from the Loverslab as the LL moderator/admin told you already as i could read in your post on the Mods Disc server. This night ill prepare my mods for uploading here and on the MES discord.

I would suggest to set it up in a similar way like MarkZappa did on the MES at least for the addons.

Yeah I was going to start doing that and ran into a "what is best" type of scenario.  Using the LL files, which in my opinion is actually well done and pretty organized.  However does not have the ability to sub-categorize things outside of tags. Or....typical forum route, and lose the features files gives.

Ah I see,I think its ok like it is now its a little different in comparison to other forums but has also other advantages than the others. But its a good start at all.

First I want to give a big thank you to all responsible in creating this forum.

With the Garden being often down, a secondary place to TK17 is a good idea.

That said, if in the Future I would like to post an update for the game here,

do I need a special status (mod)?

Thank you.

I haven't thoroughly checked on how Lovers Lab sets up their categories, but I think it should be something more streamlined than what Mods Garden has turned into. A main page broken down to clearly defined sub-pages with specific criteria to that comment or uploaded item so we don't end up with the search fiasco we had. Most specifically, having a area for uploads/downloads that is not hidden away or mixed into 10,000 different areas. Ideally becoming popular enough to have it's own forum area like Skyrim and Fallout.

I also think there needs to be some clear rules for new members on if an individual uploads more than one image the others need to be placed in a spoiler box so as to not bog down the page. Most existing Lovers Lab users do this, but from what I've seen on Mods Garden even the two image limit rule was rarely enforced. Everyone has their own kink, but I'd rather not have to scroll through a dozen pages of poorly made 16k images or worse yet My Little Pony or Minecraft porn to find something actually worth looking at.

I have used LoversLab for a while with SIMS 4, and the decent thing about LoversLab is that because it is an Ad run site you can literally upload as much as you want directly to the site without having to worry about slowing it down.  The bandwidth this relatively small TK17 club is using is nothing compared to the SkyRim and SIMS 4 content on here.  I mean you can literally upload 1GB+ videos directly to a forum with no issues at all.  The site is just built for more capacity than anything MG would have been able to do for free and with 0 ads.

I'm no webmaster or whatever they're called these days but wouldn't it be quite easy to separate discussion and download threads?

For discussion threads, users shouldn't be allowed to physically post anything other than, say, jpgs. Surely there's a way to automatically restrict what can be posted?

Meanwhile, in download areas, you can attach files and link to mega / mediafire / torrents etc. In fact, original posts need to have attachments or bona fide links or they don't get accepted. It would also be nice that posts were pre-moderated before appearing. This could be waived for established modders, of course.

The result being discussion threads become less spammy and you know there's nothing in them other than... discussion. Download threads become... just that.

In my opinion it was extremely hard to find things on MG as there were multiple forums for several items which in some ways was duplicative.  I understand the reasons why as things most likely evolved that way after having content on a site for 7 years which makes it difficult to streamline.  For LL you kind of have no choice, discussion forums are more so designed for discussion and not files and downloading.  LoversLab has the option to create tabs for the specific purpose of downloading files and it is designed with that in mind.  For example if you create a better version of a Mod you version up your original file instead of creating a brand new one. Sure things can be put on external image sharing sites and Mega, but in this case you simply don't have to, which is the beauty of the whole thing. In order not to clutter things we kept those tabs to the basic categories. The intent here was use the "tagging system" to sort out the stuff vs creating multiple sections to further confuse folks.

Being a member here for almost a decade, I concur. Actually I was being polite about the photos and videos need to be in a spoiler box. Besides being a courtesy, my real reason is I don't want to have to scroll through 900 poorly made, wallpaper sized, fugly, images or someones K-pop videos to get to the few that are actually well done. Unfortunately, a majority of uploaders have slightly less than zero aesthetic talent and/or have potatoes for operating systems. The few that upload truly good images or videos is rare, and get buried in the mix.

The ability to open a spoiler box, realize the image is horrendous and not what you're interested in, and close it again is nice.

Though TheKlub doesn't lend itself to the lizard headed, lactating, 96-20-108 body dimension, horse cocked hermaphrodite, sodomizing a twink, a shemale, and a dog simultaneously, the way Skyrim and Fallout does, (a slight exaggeration), having to scroll through half a page of the uploaded images to get to the true gems is visually painful.

Will note this. Perhaps 1 picture limit (to preview it) and if a user wants to add more to put it in a spoiler.
