How the hell has the second image used there survived on Nexus since 2014/15?

lol good point! Probably because god (aka hdt) posted it :P

I tried this mod and it doesn't seem to work with recent enb binaries for some reason unless I'm missing a setting?

I wonder if there are any mods that fix this issue for SSE?

That was my suspicion too.

Never used it myself but maybe either the functionality is now incorporated into the binaries or has now been rendered redundant by the binaries?

It's a mod that offers a fix

Is there an SE version of this?

Sadly not. HDT has quit modding skyrim, luckily he made HDT SMP open source and it's still in development by Aers & co but I doubt we'll see anything like this mod for SE any time soon. My hope would be that Boris adds something like this to enb for SE at some point.

You want simple fixes for complicated problems?  Too bad.

Layered post-processing via third-party products from a non-native English speaker (Russian) that are then patched by a non-native English speaker (Chinese) via the plugin I linked you to might require you to develop some insight into how all of this works.

Or you can just deal with the blinking.

I have a more recent version of it (as far as I know the Nexus version was the last one that was released to an English-speaking website), and it works fine on the most recent binaries.

I switched because the old one (Nexus) worked fine for AMD cards, but when I switched to Nvidia it stopped working right.  I lucked out and someone dropped a version on LL a long while back that was found on a Chinese site and worked for Nvidia cards.  It had a later file date than the Nexus version and a few more parameters.

All that said, I only know it worked for my system, but have no idea if it is in fact better/worse/newer/actually created by HDT or is a knock-off, etc.

Also not totally sure which of the versions I am using.

Linking all three on my system here, experiment as you will.

Wow source code included too! Maybe there's a chance this might be ported to SE then :)

The one with the source code is the second to last current version.

Then why the hell is SSE SMP such an open faced garbage fire. Way too much calculation overhead per collision, with DX11 frametimes there's no way in hell you should have that much delay and lag (not the same things) on collision resolves and the arbitrary and completely artificial bone limit should have been fixed literally years ago.

lol I can't argue with you on that but I'm fairly sure that taking on a project like this with little/no guidance from the author is far from a trivial task...

I'm not insinuating it is trivial or easy, I am insinuating it's been almost four years and it's still objectively bad.

It's complicated? Thought it was just a visual glitch like with water.
