The garbage optimization (or better, the lack of) of TS4.

Does anyone know if there is a program or something that can make this fucking game not shit the bed when you move the camera around? I'm tired of seeing my FPS going from 60 to 40, to 55, to 39, to 42 all the fucking time. I know Maxis is incompetent but c'mon. Even with the x64 version it doesn't change anything. My PC is a beast for this game: Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB of RAM (DDR4 2666MHz) and a GTX 1060 6GB, so it is not a hardware problem.

I'm running the game with max settings on a machine with a 3.60 GHz Pentium (4 logical cores), GTX 1050 Ti and 8GB RAM. Unless ten thousand things are going on at the same time while I'm fast-forwarding through everything, I don't experience any FPS drops.

However, I do have my resolution set to 1360x768 (generally the smoothest look for any games on my screen), while the "optimal" resolution for TS4 - suggested by that "GeForce Experience" app and also the game's default - is 1920x1080 (which looks absolutely shitty on my screen). I also experienced FPS drops and some graphics problems with other games in the past, whenever their resolution didn't match the one Windows was running on. So maybe play around with your resolution a little and see if that helps.

I run TS4 on max settings with 3840x2160 (aka "4K") resolution and have always +100FPS

and around 3,5GB of CC/Mods

 

no problems at all for me

I don't know what to say. I play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, DOOM Eternal, Assassin's Creed Odyssey with 60fps and HIGH/ULTRA but this game just won't stay at 60fps all the time.

Game runs like a dream...all gfx options maxed out....WW+BD and tons of CC

if all the games stay at 60FPS, you maybe want to turn off "VSync"

I may be wrong but from what I understand about TS4, it isn't a real demanding game like those others and doesn't always need to run at 60fps.

 

I think it changes 'on demand' or as needed but you could try some different graphics card settings, ( I don't no if there is any way to 'lock' the frame rates though.

But you can usually cap it at 60fps, or whatever.

 

Also try turning off V-sync if you haven't done so already.

 

Thinking some graphics cards, or windows settings, are trying to save energy by varying performance just to be 'green'.

Like Intel's CPU speed-step feature that slows down the clock speed when it's not needed.

 

In my windows settings, Win7, I set everything to 'performance'.

 

I don't think it's a hardware, or game problem, but rather something in the settings causing it.
