3DS Max vs Blender?

I recently asked about learning to make animations and people immediately mentioned 3DS Max, specifically the 2012 version.  Unfortunately, it seems there's no way to acquire that legally.  And the sites that would host it illegally seem likely to infect your PC with viruses and malware.  (And of course the price for a subscription for the new version is ridiculous!)

 

A friend mentioned Blender as an option.  Does Blender do animations?  How does it compare to 3DS Max?

 There are other tutorials out there on how to animated using blender.

if i'm remembering right v2.49b is what people used for Skyrim, but i myself can't use blender to save my life.

animation for what? If it’s just animation, then it’s all the same what kind of program, but if for Skyrim, Unreal, Unity - 3dsmax

Hmmm....so what you're saying is Blender is not suitable for making animations for Skyrim!   Arghh!!!  I don't like the situation with 3dsmax.  Too expensive to buy legally -- and I'm not even sure you can acquire the 2012 version of 3ds Max at  all --  and risky from a malware/virus perspective if you want to download the old version in a less than legal manner.

 

I assume all of the animation creators here use 3DS Max?  Do any animators do individual commissions?  My interests are somewhat out of the ordinary here...

I do not know what your situation is with this in your country. But I'm sure the few people who bought it for Skyrim ... ... You do not derive commercial benefits from using the product, but only learn ...

3DS Max or Blender, but mostly 3DS Max (2010-2012 and sometimes 2014).

i don't know where tda is getting Unreal & Unity from because i have never seen anyone here use those for skyrim.

some do (but not me), it also depends on what you want made.

Basically lesbian animations to include foot fetish.  Among current animations, there are a couple of lesbian animations but none for foot enthusiasts.  The few foot fetish vids involve straight sex.   Any idea who might be interested in doing individual commissions for animations like this?

fjob276 is the only serious foot animator i know of but i don't know if they are still making them:

Thanks.  Billyy made most of the lesbian animations that I do have but really doesn't do feet.  Will have to check on fjob.
