AAF and Installation guides!!!

Hello,

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to get AAF and some the animations to play correctly, Now i am sure its something to do with how i installed everything, My real issue is finding any kind of understandable install guide, the two i have found so far have not helped me, they seem to have made things worse. i am now stripping it all out and starting over but this will be my last time before i say fuck it and drop everything to do with AAF, Please if there is any place i can find clear instructions on install order and info on which animation packs are good to use for the current build of AAF. Thanks for any and all help with this!

AAF in of itself is very basic and easy to get installed without any errors. Its when you grab everything else all at one time where shit starts to go south. I find these guides for the most part give or throw way too much information at one time to a new player that it gets quite confusing, and problem after problem starts arising.

 

To get AAF up and running you don't have to worry about any special bodies (you can just use vanilla bodies). The only thing you need is F4SE. You can install that, then install AAF.

Now of course AAF isn't going to do anything by itself, you obviously need other mods to work with it, but you don't have to grab everything there is to get it working properly all at once. You don't even have to do adult AAF at the beginning. I suggest you just download Shino's Poses from Nexus and install that then install F4SE and then AAF.

 

Fire up your game and let AAF load up. You might get some messages like you need this, or you need that. Well, this is true, you do need other mods to experience all the features AAF has to offer, you don't need them right away to get AAF functioning. Just click OK on any messages if they come up (like it might say you need themes or something) and let your game finish loading.

Now that its loaded you have AAF installed and you are ready to go. Push your "Home" key on your keyboard to open the wizard and pick a NPC or yourself and cycle through the available poses you see that are available to choose (from Shino's Poses that I told you to download) and just cycle through a bunch of them and check them out. You essentially have successfully installed AAF and are good to go. If you are unfamiliar with how the AAF wizard works, there are guides for that to explain to you the basics of how it works.

 

When you establish all this, then slowly start to add the other mods that are available to be used with AAF. Now that youre going to be taking the game into adult content youre now going to have to worry about having different bodies and other things for it to function properly.

Start off by grabbing Looksmenu (you need this because it controls the morphs for the bodies)  MCM ( you want this for further options for other mods you will be grabbing)

Grab Bodyslide so you can modify and build your particular choice of bodies and clothing.

Then grab the 2 bodies of your choice for both female and male- CBBE or Fusion Girl for female   EVB or Bodytalk for male- whichever you choose to use.

Load up your game and make sure youre happy will everything and that AAF still loads up with no errors and continue to do this until you have everything you think you want. 

Just don't go overboard and grab 10 at a time, grab a couple, reload your game and test them out. Make sure everything is still working. If you do this, then it will make it easier for you to know what mod all of a sudden broke your game, due by either installing it incorrectly or maybe its just the wrong mod and isn't compatible.

As always pay close attention to what everybodies mod author suggests when downloading their mods and follow all their instructions.

Also pay attention to what they offer and what they do. Some of them have similar functions and don't need to be downloaded by 2 different mods. A good example would be if you were to download AAF SEU (which I recommend you do use) then downloading AAF Prostitution would be redundant as AAF SEU already has a option built into it for Prostitution.

 

If you follow this simple procedure, then there should be no reason why you couldn't get it going successfully. You might run into a bump here and there but at least you will already have a functioning AAF set up and a good starting point to go from.

I also suggest if youre starting a new game to take the time and do the intro and get the game to the point where you can use the workshop in Sanctuary and are free to travel to Concord. 2 reasons I suggest this are- 1/ Theres too many things going on at the beginning of the game and its pretty much scripted what you have to do anyhow, so having a bunch of mods installed isn't really going to do you any good anyhow.  2/ Once you get the game this far you can make 3-4 even 5 more saves at that point so if anything happens in the future you have additional clean saves with no mods installed where you can start again without having to repeat the whole opening scene again.

Thanks for the response, BUT, AAF runs great no worries, people get naked i can even have sex 99% of the time, the problem really is about the order in which things need to be installed because when i try and get the add-on stuff to AAF is when things get messed up, like for some reason after i got the latest AAF version no more erections and certain animations like the hipshake dance one that should fire up for the dance you do in Raider Pet for the rival gang boss you visit, starts to load the just hangs at the inifinte load screen i can hear sound from the game still but it just never leaves the loading screen. so really its more about finding out which order things need to be installed and what add-ons work with what patches and versions of AAF.

I already have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many little side patches for the AAF add-ons im not even sure which ones i should actually have any more. So i will take your advice but im not sure yours was the answer i was looking for Thanks Again for responding.

Mine would be if you decide to say fuck it and start fresh. There is so many fucking XML's patches and files floating around right now, its a nightmare. I wouldn't even know where to begin in helping you because theres no more of a way to know what you have with every patch and fix and shit youre required to download now. Its retarded, and its pretty much all to have to do with one mod. I don't even really want to be a part of it at this particular time. Until it gets determined what the hell is going to be done with it and until it gets changed or fixed I can only help people from scratch or people who haven't already fucked up their game from downloading fixes from people who don't really know what theyre doing, even though they might mean well.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if your entire AAF folder and every XML in it, isn't totally fucked at this point, and if this is case youre probably going to have to start again, cause good luck going through all of them. Its also possible you could have corrupt saves, so may be just try reloading previous saves till you find one where everything was working before.

 

And while I don't care that I typed all of this in the previous post (somebody else might find it useful) you might want to change how you word your question for help. You basically did say you cant get shit working and youre stripping it out and starting over from scratch, this is why I posted all of this in the first place. Had I known what you said in your response, I probably wouldn't have responded with this long post in the first place. I don't use Raider Pet and know nothing about it, and the knowledge of knowing you grabbed tons of patches and fixes for animations and shit, I definitely would have said fuck that.

 

That being said, like I said I'm not pissed or anything, somebody else might see this post and find it helpful, and if you do decide to start over then maybe you can follow a couple of the tips yourself. If that happens I would strongly suggest you go with the mods that don't have 15 different people giving you 15 different files, telling you they all work, and stick to the main ones from the people who created the actual mod your using in the first place.

Hopefully something good comes from the continued back and for about these mods, I really appreciate your responses and i hope i said nothing to offend you. I may have wanted to say prior that i have a mostly functioning AAF setup but was having said difficulties, and was disappointed at the lack of a truly updated install guide, considering how critical install order seems to be i am surprised by this and hoped this post would lead somewhere.

No problem, its all good. Seems that AAF (not AAF itself) is going through a little hiccup right now. More people than usual, imo, having problems for one reason or another. Its getting harder for me to try and help with everything going on and all the patches and fixes that seem to be popping up every other day. If I was new to FO4 I would be all over it already, but I'm at the end of my FO4 interest and haven't updated in a while and don't plan on it anytime soon. I admit I'm probably falling a little behind on whats going on lately and what the current issues are. I might update at some point and see what all the fuss is about, but the way it is right now, I'm waiting.

I'd recommend both of you hop on the AAF discord. While not a place for general tech-help, there's usually someone who can point you in the right direction for solving an issue you have. [Quite often doin so myself]

It's mostly easier/more simple to diagnose issues/help out on there because of the more "instant-messaging/real-time" aspect of Discord, compared to a Forum.

As for what Walkin mentioned about the scattered patches/fixes, that's something that's also come up recently/being addressed. Ultimately will probably need more mod author collaboration/communication, but there's room for improvement even without any, so it'll be cleaned up slowly.

Oh man I have lost so many saves and had so many save files corrupted trying to get AAF and all the other mods that go with it to work. Now I've finally got the CSA to FINALLY work but now every time my character gets assaulted and comes back to I cannot use my damn gun! I've got to save, and completely log out of the game and reopen it and it works again. I'm also having trouble with companions. I can't get a single one to follow me! Not even dogmeat, I think my game is trying to slowly drive me insane haha. The farthest I've ever gotten was level 25, and I decided to go out looking for animations for girl on girl and a 3-some, and masturbation because it kept giving me the sexual urge notification and I tried using a follower but my followers are female, and I tried obviously masturbating and obviously that didn't work and then another time I slept in a random bed and apparently there was supposed to be a threesome and of course it didn't work. So I thought I found some animation packs to make it work, and surprise instead I messed up my save file some how! heh

i feel your pain aside from animations sticking at load screens, i would have my pipboy stop working which involved a game shut down and restart. no clue as to cause. i am on a rebuild so anything i learn along the way i'll post here!

Unfortunately, since the last update CSA does not work correctly, at least in my game, so I had to uninstall it. Test Violate, is the same, except the kidnapping, has more options and is constantly updated.

Are you using Vis G and Def UI. The reason I ask is that I have read a couple of posts reporting that they could not get AAF working correctly until they had uninstalled Def UI..

I also like AAF Violate. made for some high tension moments in my game, just need to work out my animation issues.

Really?! Oh thank you thank you, I appreciate this SO MUCH I really do! I've been doing this all on my own, reading one guide and another guide and trying to figure out which one to follow. I'm almost impressed with how close I managed to come, but with each corrupted save file haha it's lowering that hahaha. It's getting to the point where I wonder if I should just scrap all of it and just play without LL mods, but I can't do it! These mods are important for immersion, and I'm not even saying that coyly haha. Raiders are supposed to ruthless, take everything they can get which is why I wanted CSA, I've got Family Planning (I had just finally had a baby in my last save the one I got to 25, he was like 6 or so months old and I was truly so excited for him to grow up! I'd like to have a family of my own irl but and sorry to ramble on and get into personal trivialities but my fiance passed away a couple months ago before we could have a family), I've also got Brothels because ofc you're gonna have brothels in the apocalypse! As well as Advanced Needs, Karma, and random Shenanigans. I'm also right at 255 plugins. I got rid of any extra stuff just so I could have the space for these AAF-RSEE plugins to work and this is apparently the thanks they're giving me haha. I have been wanting to reach out to see if others could help me, but wasn't really sure where to go to do that. So I was so thankful when I saw your post. Sorry for the long winded reply haha

Omg thank you soooo sooo much!!!! I saw this was posted some time ago and I was wondering if this is the kinda "replacement" or you know what I mean, but I don't think I checked it out. I'm so glad I finally decided to reach out to you guys because I was seriously feel hopeless and like giving up! I will definitely check this out. Oh is possible to move a save file somewhere else on my hard drive and it not be affected by the save corruption? Because at this point I'm assuming it's inevitable it's just a matter of time -sigh- haha

Also, something that has been really confusing to me. Is there an animation pack that's like one big one? I mentioned before animations are apparently my weakness, I feel like I'm stupid trying to figure those out. Is this a judgement free zone?? hahaha last night I was playing after I commented on this and JUST FINALLY got to see the deathclaw csa animations. It was for all Preston Garvey and the entire group to watch as well as the remaining Raiders I hadn't killed off! It was hilarious!!! It had been the first time I had seen a creature animation.

 

Oh and to make things even more complicated I've been trying to get fusion girl to work. I just saw the new body talk version came out and all my men have stretched out testicles it's the weirdest most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen haha. Anyone else using BT? And is there a way to edit man bodies?? I am so sorry for all the questions I'm throwing at you guys!

I'm using both, what have you heard? Man for FOREVER I got this annoying "update number ######" something like that CONSTANTLY, it would bump out important notifications like having to use the bathroom, or what kinda goodies I was picking up or whatever else would pop up. It drove me crazy, but then some how I read somewhere about downloading the patch for it from one of those two and it completely fixed that problem. Omg it made me soooo freaking happy! It was such a relief!! The damn thing would even some times glitch where it was in front of the transferring inventory window!

In regards to one big animation pack i dont think its out there! but for the most part if you get all the basic AAF themes your good to go, now the other animation packs can get tricky, and this is where i have problems, once you get the animation pack , lets say crazy's animations then theres a patch for that which seems straight foward and can be but, not all patches put out for animation packs are actually updated to work with the pack they should be updating. and then i end up with animations that wont load past the load screen, now let me state that this wasnt with crazy's im just using that as an example.  On the Fusion girl front i didnot have alot of luck getting that working right i have since gone back to cbbe and for the most part things work just fine with cbbe so...personal choice there, really the biggest thing i disliked about fusion girl is no preset i liked and creating my own didnt work well for some reason so like i said back to cbbe.

With all these animation and patch's about it's going to be hard to get it working within a few installs. Start small AAF + 1 animation pack + 1 mod and any patches needed for that one mod and animation pack and then test in game.  I know you most likely read or heard this before and it sounds like a long and boring task which it is, Trust me it tack's me about a couple of weeks to install a 200-250 mod list and get it working correctly  sometime's a whole month for a 300+ mod list (excluding Beth's update's that never fix anything but only Break stuff).   Some of these mods have 100's, 1000's of lines of code in them and your trying to get all these 100s , 1000's of  lines of code to work nicely with about a estimated 70,000,000+ line's of code contained within Fallout so things can and will go wrong.

AAF FamilyPlanningEnhanced_2.203  (Most likely your character will be pregnant by one of the raiders)

Nice List, i did not have any luck using Vortex, I hate it to be honest, but im sure its just me and how i like things so mod manager really only matters in that you use one that you like and understand.

Ok update to issues,

I have reinstalled my AAF stuff. did it in two parts, exact install will come later once i work out my current issues, which are still the same as when i started this post.

My issue is that when i am doing the Raiderpettruceoffering quest, or anytime i try to trigger f-dance01-01hipshakestart the animation fades to black to load but hangs at the load screen, i can hear raiders moving around talking that kinda thing but it nevers loads animation. so now im looking to find what patch i need for said dance animation.

That's almost always one or more errors hidden by the black/load screen. Hit enter/interact a couple times and see if that changes things.
