LesboIsBesto Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Looking for this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77070?tab=description as a replacer for vanila ebony armor. I had it in the past but Steam overwrote my Skyrim directory & so I need to find it again. If anyone knows where it is or has it themselves, shoot me a link. If not, den my dumbass prolly replaced the files myself, did it for daedric armor before but I forget if I did it for ebony armor.
myuhinny Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 One way to replace it is to download the mod and then open the BSA mesh file and extract the mesh files which will extract the mesh plus the folder path next extract thee mesh files from the rar and rename them to the ones that you extracted and replace them. Next do that with the texture files and in game the ebony armor should be replaced with the one that you used.

Plus I have nothing that replaces ebony nifs so I dont know what the file names should even be & need to make sure it doesnt replace the male version. Textures are fine, I have my own that work with ebokini
myuhinny Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 You use the nifs and texture files from the ebokini armor. To open and extract files from a BSA file you need a BSA extractor or you can also use FOMM (fallout mod manager) which has a built in BSA extractor already in it. Go to the skyrim mesh BSA and open it. Search for ebony then highlight the ones in the left that are needed and then extract them take the folder and add it to your game folder. Now do the same for the textures. Another way to do it is to open the BSA search for ebony and then click the armor and look at the folder pathway and make that same folder pathway and place it into your game folder then add the nifs from the ebokini armor rename them if needed.

Actually, I'd encourage you to do so if you're not. I haven't checked the new Nexus manager but didn't move to MO for a long while - I wish I did a lot earlier. It creates it's own environment for game files. Even if Steam rewrites your folder MO isn't touched. So, what I do is have my own armor directory with my mashups that replace other armor from armor sets or in game. It doesn't over write them but over rides it as a higher priority - like a higher tier of file structure. Anyway, Ebony folder path is: Data\Meshes\Armor\Ebony\F (for female armor) Okay, looking at the file contents there's no BSA and if you want to simply replace the vanilla armor you're looking at the 1stperson, body, boots, gauntlets and the mask from it. Vanilla has the 1st person, boots, cuirass, helmet and gauntlet So, if you just want it out of the tin for UNPB TBBP you'll need to rename the files of this mod to correspond with vanilla: Mod - Vanilla 1stperson_#.nif to 1stpersoncuirass_#.nif Body_#.nif to cuirass_#.nif Mask.nif to helmet_#.nif Vanilla doesn't have mask but a helmet. If you have to use the mod's mask for the helmet you'll need to change the name. Vanilla also has masks for Argonians and Kajits. If you want them to wear the mask copy the mask nif from the mod and rename them to helmetAR_#.nif and helmetKA_#.nif. Also, I used # instead of a 0 and 1. You'll need to change the mod's Body_0.nif to Cuirass_0.nif and the other for the _1 nif, for example, The boot and gauntlet nifs are fine. So, if you rename the files correctly and create a new directory for Ebony as the above path for the meshes that should work. For the textures - the mesh nifs are looking for them at: Data/Textures/Putra/Ebokini. So, if you put the Putra folder in Data/texture you should be good to go to have this replace vanilla ebony. Remember, the game will use loose files before BSAs and this will simply replace the look of Ebony. The above you don't need to bother with the esp but if you want to use the other items like crossbow, earings, bolt, etc you'll need to load the esp. You could do both and use the console for the extra stuff...
