After reading this, I went to play Fallout 4 and F4SE is currently in progress to update the script to correlate to the new build of Fallout 4.

HOWEVER, with this little nifty mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26956?tab=files

Fallout4.exe Auto-Backup, I was able to restore Fallout 4 to the previous version and continue to play while the F4SE development team fixes the issue.

But wait, what if Fallout 4 updates via steam after replacing the new launcher? I turned off Global Updates via the Steam app manifest so no game will update until I want them to update. :3

Yeap if you turn off updates in steam you'll never have this problem when a game updates and you can then play till everything is up to date and then update if you want to.

nice 1 ...wish id have known about that mod earlier. thanks for the info. kind sirs

See my post here to fix the problem without any mods. This works great and allows you to keep copies of older Fallout4.exe (or whatever game you are rolling back) into the steamapps/content folder. Just make sure you make a copy of the updated Fallout4.exe and put it into a backup folder before copying and pasting the older version in its place.

So what did patch 1.10.120 change ?? is it only CC or did they do something else too ?

I am still confused with all of these updates, usually it is not only the exe that is updated but other files too but when i see youtube clips they only say to backup the exe and you revert to previous version but what about the other files that are also patched dont they need to be reverted to have your game back to previous version ??

Considering I reverted back to the old Fallout4.exe file and continued to play without any issue, no other files were updated except CC content. Due to this being the "Zetan" update and you technically have to download the new files from CC, nothing has changed.

Intrusive online practices had me learn long ago to treat the internet like a horde of zombies wandering around your home.

A good example for me was Star Trek Online, where I had used an outfit option for my Orion capt. They patched it and when I went into the character customization screen it auto 'fixed' my selection choice denying my ability to adopt this look again ?  Being an online game I needed to patch it, but was unaware this would affect MY choices or I'd never have taken that particular character back into the customization screen.

As for FO4 ; I haven't updated the game in 2 years. Runs just fine! While this deny's me the option to use a lot of newer mods, I can live with that knowing I'll never have to scramble to fix what shouldn't be 'broken' in the first place. If I try to launch the game either from the FO4 launcher or Steam, it acts like it needs to install the game. Any changes I might need to do I can manually change in the INI files.

As for Bethesda, to me FO means 'fuck off' :)

I cleaned out my Skryim and Fallout 4 files a couple of months ago, and forgot to turn off updates.

The Creation Club update broke my mods, I had to wait Two and a Half Days until my mods were updated, and I could play Fallout 4 again.

2 1/2 days not being able to play Fallout 4, because Bethesda added micro-transactions to the game I bought. That originally didn't have them, breaking my game every month if I forget to turn off the updates. Or install an .ini backup program...

It must sicken the modders, having to release minor updates monthly. To fix Bethesda, mandatory Creation Club updates.

Personally... I reckon they should have an opt out option for the Creation Club.

- No updates

- No Creation Club News

- Just an Opt in and Opt out feature, for the start screen of Fallout 4. For Creation Club updates... Everyone is happy.

But micro transactions are never optional for updates for games...

Just massive, mandatory downloads, that I will never use.

Some mod authors don't seem to care anymore, and only host F4SE updates on Discord etc. So we're looking at the start of the final phase of sophisticated modding, because at some point people can't be arsed to put up with Bethesda's CC shit anymore.

Right now it's been 2 weeks since the last update, and a lot of mods still aren't updated officially. If you extrapolate this then you couldn't play the game for around 50% of the year.

And that's only if you don't use certain mods that only get an update every so many months.

Turning off the auto-updates is only a wonky workaround, because Bethesda does occasionally change something in the game plugins or scripts - not as a bugfix or continued game development, but of course just to make some new CC items work. So any mods that are somehow in conflict with these changes, won't work properly after updating them but keeping an older game version.

Also i heard that some people had the issue that Steam updated the game nevertheless; i think this happens when you try to launch F4SE before Steam is not fully operational after booting up your PC.
