a user on the LE forums suggested something about my having an unneeded CBBE.esl, but I'm not sure how I got it. I downloaded CBBE straight from nexus along with the SMP config.

Repost from the LE thread:

For MO2, you should absolutely use the FNIS file redirection (Vortex/MO support) option:

image.png.321faf99e7c03427f51426e6db28ccc3.png

Steps:

  1. Create a empty mod folder in MO2 mods (for example: D:\Mod Organizer\mods\FNIS_generated\).
  2. Copy the FNIS.ini0 included with FNIS into your Data directory (the real one in ...\steamapps\Skyrim\Data\ - dont put it in a MO2 mod) and rename it to FNIS.ini
  3. Edit the FNIS.ini and uncomment the line "RedirectFiles=D:\___FNIS_Redirect" by removing the ' and set the path to the empty mod folder you just created.
  4. Restart MO2 and activate the FNIS_generated mod in the left panel. Ignore the error that pops up telling you that its empty.
  5. Run fnis with redirection enabled.
  6. You can check if the FNIS_generated mod folder you created in step 1 has been filled with behavior files.
  7. Test the animations again ingame.

This way, we can be sure that FNIS works 100% with MO2.

Also, im not sure if MO2 is confirmed to fully work with Skyrim SE. My last info is that it was still buggy with Skyrim SE...

Also, install the FNIS Creature Pack from the FNIS download page on Nexus.

MO2 is fully functional with, and strongly recommended for SE.

OK, good to know. Thanks for clearing that up ?

I did see this post. I have a mod folder that I put my FNIS files in already, but I just do it manually. I assume this will just automatically do it for me. So it shouldn't make a huge difference should it? Also, I'm not sure about step 3. How should it look if I set the path to the mod folder? For instance my mod for FNIS files is simply called "overwrite"

Anyone???

As i said in LE, I not have SSE and only use MO as reference for try help people, i use NMM.

You not have errors in the log and your problem must be because FNIS not put the files in the correct folder.

As XenonS3 say, is recomended and probably necesary use the redirection option in FNIS 7.4.5

You say you have it in an "overwrite" folder but i not know if you refer to the standart overwrite folder in MO2 or you refer to other overwrite folder created by you.

First, if you have two overwrite folders that can be your problem. Change it.

Second, the normal overwrite folder must be empty, is not a trash bin for put in it that files.

You must create a new mod in MO2 and configure the external application inside MO2 for use the specific folder of the new created mod as output folder. Try follow the indications:

https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#Overwrite

yeah, I took the normal overwrite in MO2 and created a mod from it. Anything that goes into the normal MO2 overwrite, I manually move to the overwrite mod I created and hit overwrite.

I believe that's in my initial post, under the 2nd spoiler

Indeed you did.

In one of your animation mods that aren't working, find an animation file. They're all buried deep in \meshes. Note the file time and size. Check that MO doesn't say the file is being overwritten by another mod.

Use MO to launch some program that lets you open files. NifSkope, Creation Kit, Outfit Studio, something like that. Browse to SSE\Data\meshes\path to that animation file. Is it there? Does it have the same time and size?

Posted

actually I may have figured something out. I think I accidentally put some SSEEdit backups into my overwrite mod

edit: nah nevermind. that wasn't it

neither NifSkope nor Outfit studio can see meshes

The main work of FNIS is join all the diferent behaviors files from all the mods and generate unified behaviors files that can be managed by the game.

When fnis run generate the files that you can see in my screenshoot.

image.png.c42ac48917dc4d6760acddaa85cb411d.png

The animations not work in your game because the game not find the behaviors files generated by FNIS.

Make a search, with windows explorer, of mt_behavior.hkx inside your ModOrganizer folder and look how many files called mt_behavior.hkx you have, where they are and what date time they have.

You must have ONLY ONE file called mt_behavior.hkx with the date time of your last FNIS run.

Run Fnis again and make the seach again for verify that the date time is updated to today.

If the date time not change, fnis have a problem in the redirection and maybe you must use the redirection option like XenonS3 say 3 days ago.

And look in the base game folder in DATA\meshes\actors\character\behaviors because maybe, someday, you  run FNIS from outside MO and maybe you have trash in the game folder.

hmm seems it won't create the mt_behavior...that's odd

1. Check the Data Tab of MO2 in the right panel and open /meshes/actors/character/behavior and see if it REALLY didnt get created properly or if its simply located in another mod. MO2 and especially FNIS replaces any file that already exists. Post a screenshot of what you see (ill post mine below for reference, fnis in my screenshot is the custom redirection folder i created).

2. Please please please dont use the overwrite as a normal mod.  GenioMaestro and myself already explained to you why that is a bad practice for MO2, please read the STEP wiki page GenioMaestro posted. Please use the FNIS redirection method. You should also never put everything that lands in overwrite into one single mod, you'll only get confused this way and end up not knowing what files originated from what mod (fnis, bodyslide, logs, inis, etc). Create seperate mods for all that stuff.

3. Try to disable any mod that modifies character behavior (walk animatios, idles, etc). Also disable any SL mod other that the most basic things such as SL 1.63, FNIS, AL Animation Loader, MNC, the animations, etc and test if they work without all the other stuff in your modlist. Lets get the most basic things working and work our way from there.

Ok I'll try this. Just an update before you posted, I tried to uninstall, delete, and redownload/install FNIS just in case. Now FNIS isn't generating meshes

I only have MO1 but i presume MO2 works in the same way.

You can NOT create a new mod Overwrite (with the O in upercase) because allready exist in MO.

But you CAN create a new mod overwrite (with the o in lowercase) because NOT exist and MO permit it.

I make some test in my MO1 deleting my FNIS_Out, running fnis and creating a mod called overwrite (with the o in lowercase) and my game run good. The problem is NOT caused by the name of the mod.

Must be a problem in the redirection of the generated files by FNIS and probably must be solved using the redirection option in FNIS.

I'm not fully understanding this part. is there a line I need to type to redirect. or are you talking about redirecting using mod organizer's modify executables utility?

I believe you have made some fundamental error like not installing fnis with mo2 and/or not running it through mo2. Or not starting with a clean slate when using mo2. Also don't worry about the overwrite folder until you have this problem solved. And I have read that fnis file redirection is for mo1, not for mo2, in any case I don't use it.

When you open the fnis mod, you see a file called Fnis.ini0.

You copy that file into your real Skyrim Data folder, rename it to Fnis.ini (i.e. removing the 0 at the end).

You open that fhe new Fnis.ini search for that line, remove the single quote (') at the beginning to uncomment it.

You edit that line and put in the path to a custom fnis mod folder you created in the Mod Organizer mods folder.

My line looks like this:

RedirectFiles=S:\Mod Organizer\mods\fnis

FNIS.ini

Then, start FNIS and run it with the redirection option. If that works, could you zip the whole output and upload it here. There are some additional logs i want to look into.

Also, if you reinstalled fnis, check that you did not forget the Creature Pack ;)

@McLude: Read his previous posts and his fnis logs, its correctly installed.
