Apparel constantly is being removed when equipping something else

For example, if I wear a skirt, then equip a corset, for some reason, the corset overrides the skirt and it vanishes. I honestly have no idea what causes this, I suspect it might be something to do with armor slots? This problem even occurs with the two items are of the same mod and meant to be worn together, and it is not just one mod where I have this problem. It also only appears to be corsets/similar items. I can layer multiple neck items, for example.

Example: Leather and Lace, Liliana/Necromancer

It is caused as you guessed by slots.  Each item of clothing takes up a slot.  If both are coded to take up the same slot, then you get one or the other.

What doesn't make sense is that the two items come from the same mod, and there are screenshots of them being worn at the same time.

I hate to shoot down people trying to help me, but I don't think that's plausible. I stated above that two or three plugins are behaving this way, and I've trawled through comments sections and I don't see anyone complaining about this on those particular mods. Once again, the two mods in questions are: Leather and Lace, Liliana/Necromancer.

Could it possibly be due to those two mods existing in UNP initially and the bodyslide provided somehow is faulty?

This is not necessarily true, especially since the corset and skirt are from the same mod and they are pictured being worn together, which is a pretty good indication it's not a Biped Slot conflict. Without knowing the name of the mod, all we can do is speculate, so here's my 2¢ worth of speculation:

I suspect that the Corset's Reference Body shape is "plumper" :classic_biggrin: than 21bub21's default body. When he just wears the skirt, it is in fact being depicted "over" or "on" his default body since skirts (and shorts, jeans, panties, thongs, fishnet stockings, etc.) do not normally have their own body included in the meshes. However, chest/torso items always have their own reference bodies in the meshes, so when you put on one of those your body instantly switches from the default body you spent so much time perfecting to whatever body the Corset mod's author included in the Corset mesh. If it's a body-con skirt, it could easily be buried inside the corset's Reference Body. :classic_blink: I have frequently had amulets disappear into my chest until I built them in OS/BS, especially those made for CBBE bodies (I use UUNP.)

This is the type of skirt that could easily be swallowed up by a body only slightly "more robust" than my default body:

The fix is to create a new Project in Outfit Studio for the corset and see what the reference body is. If it is grossly different than your body of choice (i.e. your Default Body), replace the Corset's Reference Body with whatever type and shape you are using for your default body and then fit it to that body. Unless they are completely different body types (e.g. UUNP and CBBE) you can do this in 5 minutes or less including Batch-Building it/them in BodySlide.

If you're not comfortable using Outfit Studio, I'd be glad to have a look if you would share the name of the mod and the names of the items if there is more than one corset and/or skirt in it.

Hmm, I never thought of that. Just FYI, I did in fact mention the two mods I'm having issues with. Here they are: Leather and Lace, Liliana/Necromancer

I'd appreciate it if you could look at them in Outfit Studio and then perhaps go over the steps, I have never used it before.

Do you happen to use devious devices or one of the mods that puts SOS schlongs on female characters?

I have SOS installed, but have not installed any additional mods for it.

I dig a bit of digging myself with Outfit Studio but all I managed to do was compare the baseshape of the corset to a standard CBBE HDT. I see that the corset has a very slightly thinner waistline, that's about it.

I have SOS installed, but have not installed any additional mods for it.

OK, I got the UNPB-BBP version of the L&L mod from Skyrim Nexus and converted it to SSE so I could have a look at it in-game. I checked the Biped Slots and the corsets are set to 32 (which is correct for a chest/torso item) while the skirts are set to use 49. So, the notion that putting on a skirt displaces the corset due to Biped Slot issues doesn't seem to be the case, at least in my game.

I went in-game and put on the leather corset and miniskirt from the mod, then put on a bra too since the corsets set them puppies free :classic_biggrin: . Here's what that looked like:

20181126212039_1.jpg.fb2df90005a37d1dfe3bcab1d892dd37.jpg

Clearly, I am able to wear a corset and miniskirt from LNL at the same time. Interestingly, take a close look at my belly button in the above screenshot- you'd never know I had a navel ring tat, would you? :classic_angry: That's because the corset is forcing a UNPB body on me, and my custom UUNP body shape is, um, less voluptuous than UNPB and so the UNPB body swallowed my tat! I checked carefully and it was indeed equipped when I took the above image. Just to be sure, I ditched the LNL bra and corset, left the LNL miniskirt on and put on a flimsy pink crop-top I made to fit my actual body shape and - mirabile dictu! My tat is back!

20181126212158_1.jpg.a5257d6ae8dafe25d49b0a14a3097428.jpg

Note my stylish dark red polished toenails. They're a lot of trouble to keep up because I nick and chip them all the time on Skyrim's rocky roads and back fences, but I think it's worth the trouble, don't you?

Anyway, in conclusion, although I am not able to tell you what is causing your problem, I am able to tell you one of the things that isn't causing your miniskirt to vanish, like mine does after a few drinks down at the local Bar and Beefcake... but I digress. :classic_tongue: I'm betting that your skirt is not being displaced at all- I would suggest that you go in-game and equip both a corset and miniskirt from LNL, and then, when the skirt disappears, open your bags and confirm that there is still an arrow to the left of your skirt, indicating that despite its invisibility, it is still equipped.

Then get in OS and build the corset (there is only one corset mesh in the mod so it'll be easy) to fit your chosen body shape. I'd offer to do it for you but I don't have Oldrim installed any more. Meanwhile, I have a barely-used SSE conversion of Leather & Lace that I don't have permission to share...

And no Devious mods? I only ask because they include a functionality that hides items on certain bodyslots when something is equipped to slot 32 (body).

...How does one exactly build the mesh to fit the body shape? I'm a complete novice with Outfit Studio :/ I have the mesh in there, do I just call up CBBE HDT and fiddle around with the sliders? They don't seem to change anything as far as I can see.

How to convert any armor to UUNP with physics after you install the armor/clothing mod into the game- if your body choice is CBBE, simply substitute that for "UUNP" below:

1. Open Bodyslide, then open Outfit Studio (lower-right button)
2. Click New Project (top-left button)
3. Select UUNP-HDT if you want physics, or just UUNP if not, and click Next
4. Name the project for what it will be, e.g. "Scarlet Dawn Armor UUNP-HDT" (this is just the internal Bodyslide name but it should be at least similar to the outfit name)
5. Hit Browse, then navigate to the high-weight variant of the torso item- example "torso_1.nif" and select it
6. Delete the included body if any (the one that does not say UUNP in bold green font)
7. Fit the reference body as close as you can to the outfit using the outfit's current, pre-conversion body-shape ("UNPB" etc.) high-weight slider first, then fine-tune with various body-part ("Breasts" etc.) sliders if required
8. Click File > Make Conversion Reference and name the conversion reference something descriptive like "Scarlet Dawn Armor ConvRef"
9. Highlight one or more outfit shape(s) and fit the outfit perfectly to the body using the brushes along the toolbar at the top of the left pane
10. Once the fit is perfect, click Slider > Conform All
11. Edit the slider (click the eye-shape at the left end of the slider) and fix any slight remaining clipping. If there's more than a tiny bit left to fix at this point, close OS and start over- it should have been fixed in Step 9 before hitting Slider > Conform all!
12. Disable slider edit and drag the slider to 100%
13. Click Slider > Set Base Shape
14. Click File > Load Reference and select the same reference body you loaded in Step 3
15. Click Slider > Conform All (yes, again)
16. Toggle editing on applicable sliders one at a time, e.g. UNPB High/Low, UNP High/Low, whatever shape(s) you actually plan to build into your game
17. Copy Physics bone weights if required (multi-select bone(s) to copy on the Bones tab, then select shape(s) on the Partitions tab, right-click and hit Copy Selected Bone Weights)
18 Click File > Save Project As and make sure "Copy reference shape into output" is checked only for torso items
19. Click OK
20. Close Outfit Studio
21. In Bodyslide, right-click the tiny down-arrow in the Outfits filter box at the top right corner and select "Refresh Outfits" so your new sliderset will become available for use in Bodyslide
22. Select the Body Type (e.g. "Unified UNP-HDT") in the top-left dropdown and the preset shape (e.g. UNPB, UNP-Pushup, UNPCM, My Custom UUNP Preset, etc.) in the dropdown under that
23. Enter all or part of your new slider/outfit name in the Outfit Filter (e.g. "Scarlet" for Scarlet Dawn Armor)
24. Click the Batch-Build button in the lower left corner- if multiple slidersets show up, tick or untick as appropriate
25. Click OK to build the new outfit to your selected body type and shape. Bodyslide will tell you "success" when it's done

As someone else mentioned SOS. Sometimes there is an issue between torso slots with SOS. Things like using Nisetenaka's Bikini armors. If you set the top as revealing it might work with the other pieces. Its the same thing with the bikini top and bottom.

Somehow I fixed it. I followed the SOS thing and the Outfit Studio thing (probably made mistakes along the way), but it somehow all worked out, thank you.
