iron_jack Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'm sorta glad Skyrim didn't release with the CS on day 1. I can't justify spending $50/60 for a game, so I probably won't have it for quite some time. Besides, I'm afraid it's going to fracture our little (FONV) community. I mean, obviously we'll all still be here in the Lab, but.. you know. tl;dr - DON'T LEAVE ME HERE ALONE I LOVE YOU PLEASE TOUCH ME THERE

monolith Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I don't know anything about skyrim modability since i did not follow development. But I imagine that its a long time yet until serious mods can be made for that game. The CS isn't out yet and without NVSE or OBSE like scriptextenders i am a bit pessimisstic about the stuff one can do. Look at OBSE, without it most of the lovers stuff would be impossible. Guess we will see a few months or so with a lot of new meshes and textures. Gameplay related stuff will take its time. So no worries IronJack, you won't be left alone *gives him a short touch There too*
cyounces Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'm considering Skyrim, but I'm going to hold off until the price is down and the amount of mods available is up. Probably play it through without adult content once though, after that I hope LL picks it up

iron_jack Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I just noticed on the link to SS it says "don't forget the datapack". It might be because I'm stoned on cold meds, but... what?

iron_jack Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ah, thank you, kind sir. Might be good to have a link to that as well in the OP. If it's necessary.

Not all authors structure their downloads exactly correctly; FOMM can (usually) detect this and straighten things out. It also lets you know when there are conflicts between mods, and can uninstall them cleanly for you. You're going to need NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) as well which is the single thing that can't be installed via FOMM -- It has its own instructions.
Lordhavoc Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ah so it must of been the Script extender i Was Missing i went and uninstalled NV ect so i could start again LOL and when it comes to the Mod Manger just drag and drop aye?
prideslayer Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ah so it must of been the Script extender i Was Missing i went and uninstalled NV ect so i could start again LOL and when it comes to the Mod Manger just drag and drop aye? Basically. You can download all your zips into a directory somewhere, then FOMM has a 'package manager'. You go to that, click 'add package', and just select the zip. Say 'yes' to copy unless you want it to delete the original zip. From there you do 'activate' or 'deactivate' in the package manager, which makes then available to the game. Code addons (ESMs and ESPs) are added to the main screen so you can reorder and enable/disable them individually. Meshes and the like are just installed but can't be enabled or disabled without going back into the package manager. It also will launch fallout with NVSE loaded so you don't have to go through all the shortcut nonsense. Make sure in FOMM you go into the 'tools' menu and check off 'archive invalidation' or none of the custom textures and whatnot in the mods will be loaded when fallout starts.
