Saving in game is taking over a minute. (google answers not helping)

Hi there. 

 

So as the title says in-game it is taking over a minute to save...

 

I have already looked at the number of saved games in my savegame folder and trimmed it down to a more reasonable amount. 

 

I have also looked at the size of my saved games and they are not any larger than previously when it was saving faster. So no save bloat issue. 

 

It seemed to start after some updates and shortly after I removed the mod SM Essential player (Which I removed because I was having the problem where it crashed when you tried saving and that mod prevents doing the player.kill command needed to fix that issue.)

Try to use  Save tool on your savegame, then reload cleared savegame and save it again.

I'm certainly no expert on this but Google searches seem to think this may be a problem in SKSE. They recommend looking at both your SKSE and SKSE_nioverride files for bloat. Hope that helps.

Typically size of .skse file in save folder is what slows down save times, happens with mods that track a lot of npc data for pregnancy or nioverride info. NetImmerse Override Cleaner will clean up the npc data, just know when you go back in game it will reset npcs until you visit them again and of course this record will slowly build up again.

NetImmerse Override Cleaner

A lightweight utility capable of deleting NetImmerse Override data from SKSE co-save files, thus decreasing both the sizes of those files and Skyrim save and load times.

It was the SKSE save (I had seen on the google search about save bloat but none of what I got mentioned it was the SKSE save so I was looking at the other one.   )

Probably only about 10%. The other 90 would say "your welcome".

 

On a serious note. I never leave home without Savetool and NetImmerse Override Cleaner.
