SnekySneak Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 I've noticed that with the new updates of both Skyrim SE and SKSE that people, myself included, have been having problems with JContainers. A message box appears after loading a game saying "Your installed JContainers version is not compatible with Creature Framework, or you don't have JContainers at all. Things will be very broken!" I have been looking at recent posts on the Creature Framework pages and people are giving possible solutions but none seem to work for me. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both JContainers and CF (including even trying out older versions of JContainers). I made a clean save before loading and even have reregistered all of my mods in game using the 'setstage ski_configmanagerinstace 1' console command as well. I can't find anything that will fix this. I'm going to bed at the moment so I'm sorry if I have a delayed response. And knowing my luck, the fix will be something stupidly simple that I missed.
tasairis Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Using an older version of JContainers will definitely not work. 1. Do you have SKSE 2.0.10? 2. Do you have JContainers 4.1.5? 3. Open the SKSE log (My Games\SSE\SKSE\skse64.log). Find the line that talks about JContainers64.dll. What does it say?
SnekySneak Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 1. I do have 2.0.10 2. I do have 4.1.5 3. It says that JContainers.dll has loaded correctly but I did see something else. On a few other pages that I looked at, I think I saw someone say that SetVehicleFixPlugin.dll was messing up their game. In the log it says that dll hadn't loaded in correctly

I removed it long ago when I first read it wasn't necessary.

And if it's any help in finding out what's wrong with it, when I go to the Creature Framework tab in MCM, it says that the mod is initializing and I need to wait for it to finish. But despite waiting, it never finishes

Either that or you have another skse plugin that isn't compatible for your game runtime.

It's probably that since I have the latest version of JContainers installed from Nexus. I'll check and put an update after
SnekySneak Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Update: I am not sure what EXACTLY fixed it, but the error message seems to have went away. But now I have another problem. When I go into the Creature Framework MCM menu, I get a message saying that it is initializing the mod and that it will take a few minutes to load everything. So I decided to exit the menu and let it do its thing while I go do other stuff. When I got back and tried to use the "Irresistible Aura" spell on a creature, it didn't work when it previously did. I went back into the menu and it said that it was still "initializing." It seems to be stuck in the process
coolfreaky Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 2 years later it can not be the same ! please mention : your skyrim version ( ex : 1.5.97 ) version your skse version ( ex : skse64 2.00.17 ) your JContainer version ( ex : 4.1.12 ) your creature framwork version ( ex : included in ' more nasty creatures ' 12.06a or creatures framwork 1.1.0 not needed anymore . )
unknown-number Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 hey, I'm having a bit of a different problem, nexus is telling me that Jcontainers isn't a valid .dll even though I'm using the latest version. skyrim SE: 1.5.97 skse:skse64 2.0.19 JContainers: 3.2.6 here is the skse64 log if anything else is needed I'll had it. skse64.log

Wolf470 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 And the Anniversary Update broked it again!! current JContainers is 4.1.13 (SE) current skyrim ver is 1.6.318 (SE) current skse is 2.1.3 (SE) with any luck someone will fix the .dll and post the patch (apparently that's all it needs)
Haseo12 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Same issue here. .dll not found things be very broken. Paladin1 Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I'm having this same problem. I'm running Skyrim VR and I downloaded the latest version of JContainers for VR. Not only does the error message persist, but JContainers isn't showing up on my loadout page in LOOT, it's like it doesn't exist. I've tried uninstalling/re-installing the mod. I checked the source and it's showing up in the Skyrim file. I've posted on the mod page on Nexus and will just leave those naughty creature mods I wanted uninstalled for now I guess though it's really unfortunate.

Paladin1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 13 hours ago, coolfreaky said: can not help you with VR . but you might find those threads useful : Thanks, but I figured it out. This time it was totally my fault. I downloaded the regular SE version instead of the VR version, then checked LOOT and saw that it wasn't there and figured that was connected to the issue. When I tried the VR version, the first thing I did was check LOOT and when it wasn't there I didn't check the game, I figured it was the same thing. A friend then explained to me that actually JContainers wouldn't appear in LOOT, it lacks the correct file type, so I tried opening the game with the latest VR version installed and it worked fine.

Ares0606 Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 3 years later and i also have the same issue with creature frameworks and jcontainers. i have the latest versions of everything but somehow, i keep getting the "Jcontainers not installed or not compatible with creature framework". Horses shlongs are also invisble. No matter how long i search online i cant find a solution. if anyone has found a way to fix it i would be more than obbliged to thank them

"latest version of everything" doesn't mean anything. It must be a match for your version of the game. If I check the files available in the JContainers page and get the latest ones I'd be getting the GOG or the VR version, which are not compatible with a regular Steam install of Skyrim SE. Find the version of your game (product version of your SkyrimSE.exe), get the corresponding version of SKSE, Address Library and any mods with a DLL (like JContainers) to match that version.
