Thost Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Hello! I'm having trouble with the dark faces bug... I tried all the fixes I could find: ctrl+f4 thingy with CK mator smash patch reinstall all body replacers and textures remove Skyrim.esm facegeom folder start a new game, setnpcweight then save then reload nothing did the trick. Setting npcs weight works but I have to do it everytime I start a game and A LOT of npcs have that dark face problem. I'm trying to look for solutions but everyone managed to deal with the problem permanently with one of the manipulations above. LoadOrder_SkyrimSE_2018-10-10T12-17-06.txt
EvilReFlex Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 What textures are you using? Some texture packs are poorly (or not) optimized and need to much memory and you get black textures.
Thost Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 I'm only using Mature skin, seductive lips and some eyes mods for models. I'm wondering if that has something to do with enboost...
EvilReFlex Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I got this bug with a ENB presets, maybe try to change memory settings in your config.
Thost Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 I just have enboost installed but no enb presets. I got it because I had random CTDs while walking around in the wilds and it fixed it. I just tried to load a game without it and the black face bug is still here... How do I change memory settings? (sorry if it sounds noob haha)

Thost Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 In fact there's quite a lot of info... I don't even know where to begin haha! I'll check that asap and tell you if I found anything to fix my issue!
Lodakai Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Run LOOT while youre at it you have dependencies loading after their master files. ETA: Errr... I meant before... Things are just WONKY MAN! run loot. K.... And if you installed WICO.... but did not enable the ESP... then you will always have those dark face bugs. You either need to install the ESP, or use a seperate folder..... extract the BSA.. and remove all the face nifs Then you can use the loose files as your baseline looks overhaul
realax Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 if u are using an overlay loke overwolf - disable it - it did the trick for me once

Loot is updated and finds nothing to change to load order. And it's not WICO it's Weapons Clutter Fixes and blah blah that is deactivated. 4 hours ago, realax said: if u are using an overlay loke overwolf - disable it - it did the trick for me once Do you think Steam overlay could cause it? Might be worth a try...
Thost Posted October 11, 2018 Author Posted October 11, 2018 So here's what I tried so far: - Run Loot again but it was okay with load order (I have zero bug but the dark faces anyway so I knew this was probably not the issue) - Deactivating Steam Overlay did not fix it - Uninstalling all texture mods and lighting mods did not fix it either - Tried to patch it with CK fixing only one npc (whiterun blacksmith) just to see, no chance - Tried to raise memory usage in enblocal.ini because it was quite low compared to my specs - Tried to add the line fixgammatint=true and false - I also tried again to remove the skyrim.esm folders in data/meshes/actors/character/facegen/facegeom and the same in textures Nothing fixed it... I'm thinking a clean install of vanilla skyrim and start over the modding might do the trick but maaaan I've been doing this the whole week already, it would be nice to find another way haha!
Psalam Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 While it's not likely to help, but you're kind of desperate, let me mention another useful tool: Bethini (found on Nexus). It gives you one simple tool for changing multiple .ini files.
nemocdt Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 did you make your bashed patch before or after your exported the face gen data? (the ctrl f4 thing lol) if you did. delete the bashed patch and make a new one. every time i tryed to export the face data for all npc's at the same time CK would stop responding. so i would make a list as i came accross them in game (name, race, and id) and fixed them about 4-5 at a time as i played through. but i had to remake my bashed patch after every fix session. this is the only thing that worked for me. it was like the bashed patch was still reading the bsa's instead of the exported loose files.??? make sure too load all mods that alter faces when exporting.

LoadOrder_SkyrimSE_2018-10-10T12-17-06.txt I figured it out 100% fix will work for everyone using mo2 i only made problems and things worse blanket bombing the actor data with ctrl f4..... almost game destroying at level 51 still first playthrough! simple way i use Botox, Wico, Diversity, Bijin, Wcco, Tgco, Dbco (all my npc replacer mods) i'll use my installed mods to show you, you use yours obv. Sort your load order properly!!! make a back up of MO2 overwrites folder if you have extracted your skyrim bsa's make a back up of the meshes folder. 1. create new folder on desktop 2. Go to MO Mods folder, Botox folder and copy the meshes folder in to the desktop folder (if a mod has a bsa you will have to extract it to access the meshes folder. ) 3. Go to Wico folder and do the same, click yes to any overwrites 4. continue this going down the list, remember to start with the mods you want overwritten to the mods you want to have priority. 5. go in the desktop folder and continue until you see facegendata 6. Copy the facegendata folder (not the entire meshes folder) in to your MO2 overwrites folder overwrite\meshes\actors\character\facegendata only copying the facegen data will insure other conflicts that are sorted in your load order are not reapplied in the overwrite folder. done.... if you have extracted your skyrim bsa's in your data folder back them up and DELETE / HIDE the facegeom folder (edited) run your game without your smashpatch, check known dark face npc's then run it with smashpatch see if it is causing issues (mine isnt) Now. if you still find a few d/f's follow this. some investigation in game to identify which mods are causing d/faces i guarantee multiple conflicts eg. immersive weapons will have a conflict with 1 bijin character (easy fix with load order) but wico, opulant outfit and consistant old people have cyclic conflict with at least 3 different characters, Haelga, Vulwoof and Urag. you can only fix 2 with your load order. 1 will always be D/F no matter what order. with an optimised load order this will reduce the number of d/f faces. if you have been prancing around CK ctrl f4ing npc's willy nilly like i was..... start with loot, but if your npc overhauls are obviouly out of order move them yourself. if you want to get tricky you could pick individual nif's to replace using CK and Xedit. the ref ID for the character is the same as the NIF name in the facegeom folder. this will work for everything you have installed now if you want to add more npc overhauls overwrite the facegen data im MO2 overwrite folder after install mod. if you find an npc with dark face console click on them find the last mod changing them and go looking for the facegendata in the mod then add to overwrite folder. it's worked everytime for me so far. it's brutal and basic but it works.
Thost Posted October 29, 2018 Author Posted October 29, 2018 Hey thanks for coming back here! I'll check this out if the black faces are back I just deleted everything like yesterday... I'm just cleaning my mod list, reinstalling fresh skyrim and doing things step by step. But if the faces are back to black then I have one more shot at fixing it!
Kristus Kringle Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Not causing blackface but I noticed lust control is/was listed twice.
