CTD on load (Fixed)

For the life of me I cannot figure out what is going on. It was working fine one day and the next any save I've made in the past few months suddenly CTD's on load. Even saves that I haven't removed mods from won't work and Crash Fixes 12 doesn't even pop up with a message. I've looked and tried everything I could find in the forum, but nothing's working. Running LOOT doesn't work, Load Game CTD fix doesn't work, reducing my animations below 10k doesn't work (And now for some strange reason, it seems like FNIS isn't registering the animations that I removed after I've reinstalled them, but that's a separate issue), cleaning the saves with ReSaver didn't work, and reinstalling the game didn't even work.

 

The only explanation I can think of is that I'm so bloody incompetent that I'm missing something obvious but I have no idea what. So I'm turning to you all for help. Got any idea what's going on?

The first 370 lines of your log are almost just missing files. And it is not even 1 minute.
What do you mean - LOOT is not working?

For me, it looks like you have installed mods, but not the requirements for these mods.

Well, for one thing, you have a patch for captured dreams installed but the captured dreams mod is missing. All those missing store errors indicate you're probably missing a bunch of bsa files. That's just a very cursory review.

When I say LOOT doesn't work, I mean using LOOT doesn't fix the problem. The actual program is fine.

Ah, fixed that. I thought just disabling the esp would be enough. It didn't solve my problem however. Should I just reinstall all of the mods to see if that can fix the missing files?

My question: When you try to load does your CTD occur before you see the main menu (probably a missing master) or after you see the main menu (probably too many animations). If the latter it may be related to the problem you have with FNIS.

It occurs after seeing the main menu when I load up a save. I get the loading screen and then it CTD's.

Next step is to run FNIS. Please post a screenshot that includes the total number of animations (available when FNIS is done). My suspicion that you have loaded more than you can handle. More on that when I see the screenshot if it appears to be the problem.

Are you using the current version of MoreNastyCritters (MNC) - the one for SLAL? The old version could do this. If you are using the new one then it is out of order in your load (LOOT could let that pass). I would ask that you check MNC and rerun LOOT. Please post your load order from LOOT (the icon of 3 buttons in the upper right hand corner) after you run it again. If you have the SLAL version of MNC and SLAL is still loaded before MNC I ask that you manually move MNC to just above SLAL and try to run Skyrim again.

I did what you said and something interesting happened. I could load a more recent save than I could before, and even loading my most recent save from there actually got me into the game before it crashed. Yet when I tried to load that save again, it just crashed at the loading screen like before. This isn't the first time I've been able to load a save one moment and then the next I wasn't; the first time I reinstalled the game this happened too. I'm wondering if how much time I've gone without launching the game has anything to do with it.

Please, manually place More Nasty Critters just before SLAL in the load order and be certain that you are using the SLAL version.

With your LOOT load order I can see that you are also approaching the limit for total number of mods. If you have a few that you think that you could do without please remove them. You can later put a bunch of your armors in a bashed patch if you really have to have it all in the long haul.

Finally, changes in load order can only be properly tested in a new game. Old saves tend to accumulate "stuff" (like old scripts). You'll only be able to truly see what progress you are making by trying the changes in a new game.

Oh, I did do that, I must have forgotten to refresh LOOT when I got the load order. (And yes, I'm certain I'm using the SLAL version.)

Also, a new game isn't the problem, it's trying to access my CURRENT game that I want to do. I can load up one of my older saves on that character no problem (it's #600/646) but everything more recent doesn't work, as I've said.

You may not be able to do that but if you feel that you must try go to Nexus and download Fallrim Tools (NOT into your mod manager - desk top or some random folder will do). When it's downloaded open and run the ReSaver tool. It's intuitive - let me know if you can't figure it out. After cleaning the save try to run it again. If that didn't work I'm afraid that I know of nothing that will fix your current game.

It didn't work. Resaver was one of the first things I tried.

I'm sorry, perhaps someone else has a good idea but everything that I've read and seen on the threads say that when a save is corrupted there is no fixing it. Start a new game with the load order that you want - then don't change it, ever (see the Shout Like a Virgin modpage if you want to see that piece of advice made even more explicit).

Load your entire load order in xedit. Just start it and accept whatever it wants to do. If you have missing mod dependencies, it'll find them. Beyond that, loot is great but does take some work by the user to tell it which mods need to be loaded before others. It doesn't know everything.
