Baking Animation

I really hate the baking animation you get when you activate an oven.  Specifically, I don't like the goofy little tarts (or whatever they are) that you shovel around with that pizza paddle thingy.

I'd make my own baking animation, but first of all I ain't that smart.  Second, I can't use Blender or any of that stuff -- though I can muscle my way through NifSkope, more or less.

Is there a way to use NifSkope or the CK to ----

Eliminate the little tarts that magically appear from nowhere as you use an oven

Exchange that paddle thingy for something smaller and more believable

Or even just have the actor lay a hand on an oven door (from a custom NIF I got goodness knows where during Oblivion and tweaked)

Or just... well... maybe even STAND there tapping a foot, or heck, doing nothin' at all, until you finish baking and exit the "create" screen?

Please note -- although usually I am looking for help to learn to do something on my own, and not have someone else do it for me.... yeah, this is an exception.  There is no way I can learn to animate, and I don't intend to frustrate myself trying.  (I have other talents.  Honest.  Okay, so my major talent is staring at my own belly button, but hey, it is a talent, right?)

But if there is a way to replace the "shoveling tarts around" animation easily, with something that already exists in Skyrim, I'd love to know how to do that!

Thanks!

yes, find the nif file for the animated object and delete the tarts from it.

yes, you can probably edit the scale of the mesh.

yes, make a new animation.

yes, make or replace the animation with another one.

Then place in a pre-heated oven for 45 minutes on gas mark 5.

That was obvious... Now that someone else points it out to me!  Thank you, MadMansGun.  And thank you for not laughing at the old lady who didn't, well, think of the obvious  ?

I've found animobjectbreadpeel.nif

However, I've also found animobjectdumplingleft.nif and ...dumplingright.nif

Those last two, I'm sure, are the little tarts.  How the heck do I "unattach" them from the animation?  Is that a thing I can do in NifSkope or what?

I actually found an idle that is just "stand there with arms crossed".   That would be fine, IF I knew how to attach that to the oven, so the actor does that instead of shoveling food around.

I found it by opening  Actors > Actor > Player and then in the "Animation" tab, scrolling through the list until I saw it.  But where exatly are those files so I can attach that to the oven's NIF?  I should be looking in Data > Meshes > Actors > Character > Animations ... and I may have to unpack the Skyrim BSA, correct?  Or am I more confused than usual?

And again, can I use NifSkope or the CK to trade that animation for the existing one?  If so, is there a tutorial anyone can recommend which will tell me how to do it?  (For various reasons, I can't use vid tutes, so it would need to be text. )

EDIT -- or the IdleStudy.hkx  -- that one is more or less "standing there waiting"... how would I substitute that for the "shovel food around" crap?

i edited the meshes for you

SkyrimBakingStuff.7z

the animations may be more tricky to deal with than i realized, it's using more than one animation:

aoovenenter.hkx

aoovenexit.hkx

aoovenidle.hkx

aoovenidlerest.hkx

Oh my gawd, you are AWESOME.  Thank you!  I'm going to look at what you did and see if I can understand it and duplicate it, but meantime, just WOW, you're, well, awesome!  for taking the trouble to help me figure this out, and for editing the meshes yourself.  Wow!

for the paddle i right clicked on the mesh, went to "transform" and selected "scale vertices", then entered 0.5 for Y and clicked on "scale".

for the dumplings i just deleted the mesh and pretty much turned the nif into a empty file.

Yeah, but see I never would have thought of doing that on my own.  Which just goes to prove how goofy I really am, because I routinely re-scale stuff in NifSkope to make it look the way I wanted it to.  So once more, thank you for pointing out the obvious!

(maybe I should make a clue-by-four.... and use it on myself, lol)
