Would someone mind helping just quickly? I've been attempting to fix the "Deerkin" support for a while, and keep coming to the conclusion I've missed something, because the NPC's in the game just stand there now, not moving, and I can't interact with them in order to test the support.

I don't believe I've missed a step, and I'm not really sure what to do ?

Any help would be appreciated, and if any images are needed, I can supply those too.

I mean if its any consolidation I've made the concept character design for the Fragmented Ruin race fuck a Lombax before deciding I did, in fact, want to make them a playable race in Starbound.

Uh.... sure? Though that sounds odd, that's not supposed to happen.

I still need creative fuel to somehow finish deerfolk... But that can still wait.

...fix? Didn't it just need some sprite edits, mainly pertaining to actor 1, and the males? As long as that's all you're doing, there shouldn't be any problems. Unless of course...you're trying to do something else?

LOL Wow, that's...pretty great xD. I don't have permission to edit the supported mod list, but I'll bug Alastor if they somehow miss your post.

Soon enough, hopefully. Once heads become more editable in animations. Once one taur character is made, it'll be easier to add support for others too. I'm...still curious how the butterfly animation will go. I can't even fathom how the actor 1 position will look, since the body just...isn't designed for that position. Like...standing on the back legs, holding them with the front legs, which would leaving their hands aside or for something else....or something. Actor 2 wouldn't be much better, since it'd look funny with like...a human, somehow holding a bulky taur character up.

 

I got bored and modified the dialog to also take into account both actor's name's as well, so that actor's can say specific thing's depending on who they are. Of course, that means having to think up an insane amount of dialog, especially for each position. All current dialog files don't work either of course but...eh, w/e. Not exactly practical for most people, and I haven't seen any real demand for this kind of thing, so I'll keep it to myself for now. It's nice for random scenarios with certain npc's and stuff, but...it's more effort than I think most people would want to put in.

Would you look at that....

I have been working on a small community project for a while to increase the amount of dialogues, and even though we've run into some new issues, its still going. That feature you made would be very interesting not just for the project but for SxB in general!

Another type of "flag" people have request is to either take into account NPC-type, or damageTeams, to tell if the NPC is hostile or not to vary dialog, which is another addition we've yet to achieve.

To be honest, most of it is just a modification of the "sextalk.lua" file, and the customdialog config files which were adjusted to take those few extra parameters. It feels like NPC-type's/damageTeams could be possible as well, though I'll have to do some testing first. I haven't figured out how to change the first flag, "actorStatus", to be something else, but the rest is customizable. I definitely like having more flexibility for dialog's, since it let's you get more creative and specific with things.

 

I didn't think there'd be much interest, lol. People rarely customize dialog for their races, and I haven't seen any mods that expand upon it. I mostly made it as a temporary thing, until Sexbound or another mod made a more "official", better version of the dialog. It'd be nice if it includes monsters/pets/critters too, which may fall under the NPC-type category, though it'll be hard to test things much until they're implemented. Not to mention...the complexity for when more than just 2 actors are involved, or just one.

 

What kind of issues are/were you having, if you don't mind me asking? It's possible I just haven't ran into whatever problems you've had quite yet.

From what i can tell, use of the Default tag too much seems to often replace other criteria, and very specific dialogs don't show up, but oh well. Will have to figure that out later.

Ah, I gotcha. I think I have things set up in a way that I don't have that problem, but I'm going to need to start using some recursive methods if I'm going to check for more flags. I haven't tested things thoroughly yet admittedly...so I'll hold back on saying I don't have any issues, not until I can have a large amount of specific flags and consistently get the desired dialog.

 

So...getting the entity type (npc/player) wasn't an issue, and finding their group isn't hard either (nakedvillager/bandit/etc.). Getting their damageTeams was kind of a pain though, haha.

 

I spent quite a few hours trying to puzzle it out, but I did manage to get the damageTeam part working. Using the entity value would have made things simple...but I wanted to make sure that the damageTeam was accessible for all the actors. So, their damageTeam types (friendly/enemy), and team #'s (1,2,etc.) are accessible, which means dialog can also take those into consideration.

 

I did have to go in and modify some of the core Sexbound files, unfortunately, and I'm not entirely sure how patchable it is. But...hey, one step at a time I suppose.

I actually would like to request fragments of ruin for sexbound if possible someday.

Well...just because they're both present on the same forum, it doesn't mean that they were designed by the same person. I'm not seeing the correlation at all tbh. The purebreed is a reskin of the half-breed, made by someone else.

 

I'm not really seeing where the authors are either on the chucklefish forum. If you go to the steam page for the mod's, it shows the authors in the "CREATED BY" box there. I could just tell you the names, but "teach a man to fish..." and all that.
