“People”

—Geralt turned his head—

“like to invent monsters and monstrosities.

Then they seem less monstrous themselves.”
Andrzej Sapkowski,
The Last Wish

This blog post is trying to organize my personal notes for The Witcher 1. Hopefully it will help others to enjoy the game and the story as much as I did.

Most likely, it will grow a bit as I start to play the game again.

My mods and tools

My list of interesting mods has it's own blog post https://www.loverslab.com/blogs/entry/9391-entrails-my-witcher-1-mods/

(work in progress  )

Walkthroughs and maps

Cheats

We don't have that many cheats available and most have been patched away in later editions. Most of the remaining cheats are enabled by various mods and would be found there.

Though there are some tricks (not necessarily cheats) which are covered here or in the walkthroughs above.

A debug console is not available to my knowledge.

If anybody happens to learn about a debug console or some cheats (not part of the usual mods) please let me know. :classic_happy:

Let's plays

I enjoy Let's plays if the player is able to enhance the story and literally acts as an actor in it. Or like a narrator.

For TW1, I have found a few recommendable one

Funny stuff and other snippets

Rule 34

Quote

#R34: If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.

While this topic will yield into an endless list of sites, I restrict myself to just a few. You all can get an impression about it and continue your own naughty search from here on.

As always: Pay attention to safe internet browsing practices! If you don't know, what I am talking about, keep your fingers away from clicking on any naughty URL!

Or do you prefer something to read ?

From now on I will always be disappointed by video game guides that don't include rule 34 links ?

? Isn't that the whole point for the very existence of LoversLab? Isn't it the mission of LL?

To guide everyone straight down to the adult-oriented aspects of games?

But I share your disappointment with other game guides. That's why I felt the urge to fix it :classic_laugh:

My father played witcher 1. Somebody gave him the game and he was very disappointed in fighting moves. It irritated him very much but he let me play it. I finished the game in few hours. :)

It is less about the "advanced" fighting but more about the story, I guess. :classic_laugh:

The fighting in TW1 as a lot like it would be done with a table top game, players stating their actions, rolling dices and the gamemaster telling you if you struck the foe or not.

Taking it under this ^  RPG paradigm, TW1 is actually quite good at it.

it is true. My cousin who is in Ireland now brought PS 3 once and we played witcher 2. My father came watched for few minutes and he said: is this a game or cartoon. he didn't like too much dialogues and playing scenes in between. He left and we laugh. He likes the game in which he fully control his character, minimum dialogues in between animations.

Depending on your fetish ... ? .. I'd say : yes. Since it's all about making decision.
