You are really fast in what you do. Until you're testing it in the game

It's almost ready!

LOL I think it's called "not having a life." But the high when you get a project like this up and running is fabulous.

As for prior characters, golly. My thing is I have to play with the races I create, so I've been a tiger, panther, and cheetah. I had a sabrelion/orc a while back. Then a regular lion cuz I made them when I separated out the cat races. Then a winged snow leopard. Then a bat. Then a gryphon. Now the winged horse.

I'll pack it up and post it today. Limitations:

  • No girlz
  • Lots of the standard face shape sliders do nothing. I'm not sure they ever will cuz I'm not sure they are all that important for horses. OTOH there are a bunch of unique customizations which have their own sliders rather than being hidden under vanilla sliders.
  • Those special sliders have messy names because I haven't figured out how translations work yet.
  • Most of the tint sliders do something, not always what you expect. I don't know how to get RaceMenu to show tint sliders easily.
  • There are two head complexions, but if you choose the second it flips back to the first when you exit RaceMenu. Dunno what that's about.
  • Feet and hands are likely to be tweaked. Might do that before females so they get the fixes. The weighting on the feet is bad. (Phalanx bone deforms in some animations. Actually, turns out there's a joint in the phalanx I didn't know about. I might use that.)
  • Maybe some more face tints or patterns, like for paint horses. If I can't get the complexions to work I'll put them on the dirt slider.
  • Definitely some more warpaints.
  • Sheathing schlong. I bet I can make a sexy retracted schlong. I'm thinking start with fully retracted and fully exposed only, then do intermediate versions if anyone (including me) cares. It will be a separate ESP so folks can choose not to have all the Hoodies cruft.
  • Scars maybe? Do scars matter? They are a bit tedious but not really hard to do.
  • Maybe some tweaks to manes.

You guys complain my legs are too thin. Look at this:

Exactly. I have 5GB+ of FO4 ports and I don't really use them much (if at all) nor I think I'll post them because I'm too lazy for it for now, but going from seeing a cool outfit on a game rip to seeing it ingame and working and worn by my characters feels pretty damn good.

Awww. Well actually I knew this was gonna happen so it's fine, lol. Will give it a shot anyway. Any bugs squashed now (if any) are bugs females shouldn't get, so there's that.

You need to place a TXT file named "pluginame minus file extension_ENGLISH" in the "Interface\Translations" folder, and then follow this layout:

$(slider name in the TRI)	(Slider Name shown in the menu)

So for example for a slider whose morph name in the TRI is "RM_MouthPart", you would do this:

$RM_MouthPart	Mouth Part

Do note that you need a TXT file for each of the game's languages or else it will show up with an error sign on games set to any language that isn't English, but you can simply use the English file for them all since there's no real need to actually translate the slider names. Check the Translation files for RaceMenu for example to see which languages are those.

But you create and give life to the imagination.

Of course it feels so great to finish a project.

And I enjoy that I almost have all my favorite animals in just this page  lol

Did that, but it's not taking somehow. Maybe you'll see something obvious.

Maybe incorporating the Cellan Race Standalone? Rabbits would also be nice since theyre also herbivore but since there is already a race for that it should be fine, the only thing i wish the existing rabbit race features is Digitigrade and npcs, same with cellan, maybe they could become a part of this race mod, given that youd need perms and be willing to do it. I also like the idea of goats or something related in the future, though it may not be high priority it could make for another interesting race mod!

Furi with prisendam in the screenshot at the top of this race is in Skyrim ?

You'll have to try it again if you want us to understand what you mean. Either that or just get a translator that doesn't suck.

Could be they're referring to the image? If so, yes, the horses mod is up and that's one of the head textures.

More progress:

Base head is a modification of the horse head. Morphs are the horse's morphs, touched up for the new shape. Nostrils are substantially reworked, and there are a few different options for them.

There will be a wide variety of horns, including antelope and goat (yes, I said goat). Probably not including moose because they're more like cows than deer in overall shape. Or maybe I'll put the moose in because. Likely I'll add some giraffe horns since we have the overlay. I already made a wide, flat nose for that.

Horns have a poll to blend them into the skull. That will be more important for cow horns because they stick out to the side more, but I think they make these look better too. They're not picking up the skin tint for reasons I don't understand but I'm assuming I can fix that.

Gonna be some beard options. I thought I might do that for the horses but didn't get to it. These have some roman-nose options that will make perfectly decent goats tho, so they need beards.

Still need hands and feet, and a white belly texture. And dicks, I suppose.

Females are likely to be a very minor variant on males. There's already enough variety on shape so you can have a softer or more angular look.

Awesome, great to see things moving along for this race. ?

One question, though: not an expert on cervids by any means so I'm going by what I've seen on pics, but I take it the base textures will be based on whitetails? Markings seem to point to that instead of red deers or something else.

Alright, that sounds good. I'm predicting these deers could have some serious bedroom eyes just like the horses did, lol. :classic_tongue:

Sounds great as well, the more options the better. Some of them could maybe use a few overlays as well for their specific body markings/patterns if you want to offer more customization options too.

They are extra head parts added to the horn entries, I assume? If so, it should be a matter of adding the proper flags to them. I'd check out the shark head fins, they are head parts as well but they pick up skin tones just fine. You are probably just missing a shader flag or two in the nif or some setting in the plugin, I assume.

A belly would probably be nice, yeah. Otherwise the base textures may be too plain. I guess there's always overlays, but that won't work for NPCs and I'd say most cervids do seem to have a white belly so having one built into the textures won't be a problem.

So a Deer race is happening, huh? Once this is done, my top three favorite races will be playable in-game (Otters, Gryphons and Deer) which is something I never thought I'd see. Especially since before you came along Bad Dog, there didn't seem to be many modders interested in making custom beast races, even less so than Oblivion, which actually had a Deer race that I loved. Hell if I remember the name though, that was so long ago.

The general head shape and ears look spot on, and I'm sure it'll look even better once finished and in-game much like the Horse's did. Sounds like you did a lot of work with the morphs as well. It'll be pretty interesting to see what people come up with given the options.

Base texture will be very basic--even color everywhere with white bellies. All the face markings in the pics are tint layers. They'll have their own, rather than reusing the horse tints. I'll make a few all-over tints that will live on the dirt slider. I've already made a Thompson's Gazelle face. Those guys are seriously weird.

Yeah, the poll just had to be switched to the skin tint shader and it was fine.

That's what I say

For me Skyrim is the most impressive game that exists

What game do you know the most that you can play as the animal you like, in addition to the diversity and the great modders that exist?

My favorites are: ??? and next ?

Hoo, interesting. Would you like to try making a few body overlays too? Not sure how you are making the tints but it's basically the same way as those except instead of black as alpha as vanilla tints, they use proper alpha channel as alpha.

And just in case you just don't want to deal with setting them up, I could do that too. All I'd need is the source .png files, preferably painted in pure #FFFFFF white.

I'll definitely do a Tommy side stripe. Anything more than that I'll likely leave to you. :)

I'm gonna be honest, the most impressive thing here is how well the antlers/horns blend into the head. I was expecting some kind of a seam, but even up close you really can't tell. Awesome work as usual.

Of the four, I think the Gazelle looks the best. The Reindeer (Caribou?) is the only one that looks off because they tend to have bulkier snouts, but it still doesn't look bad. The Goat looks amazing too, the little beard really ties that one together.

Anyways, you're getting incredible mileage out of that Horse head. This is a prime example of, "Work smarter, not harder."

That's pretty impressive work on the deer race. I can't wait to see how the Mnotaur one turns out. Keep up the great work!
