I was one Day going over some new hairstyles and found this which reminded me of a certain movie. Taking place in another World a different version of Maylin falls in the black toxic liquid of Apocrypha and is transformed into a Deadly Spirit now known to Tamriel as......... The Dragon Grudge! Dun dun duuunnn!!!!! sorry tried to do musical thing there just now.  I made some vids they came out kinda choppy but it seems to go with the Creepy Theme. Enjoy ;)

I was going to put the movie trailer last but then it occurred to me you wouldn't be looking at my clips with the movie in mind to help you get the idea I'm going for. Muhahahaa!!!!

Oh and the Clips have sound more like just creepy music.  And Thanks to the Modders for making this All Possible.

If the video doesn't load just click on the gFycat icon on one of the vids that does load or Refresh the page till it does. LL has problems loading these links don't know why. :(

Interesting concept here, with a gruesome transformation from the hands of Miraak. However, while the first video tells the story of a fight, a defeat and a quite impressive transformation, there is no more real content past the second spoiler : all what follows afterwards are different points of view of the same, with the narration having stopped at the first scene. Considering the framerate of approximately one image per second, one could also wonder if the gifs really add something compared to still images with some music (via a video at the start) ; as the second option would've allowed better resolution shots and dialogues/sounds via comic bubbles.

Anyway, I guess that was some sort of concept prototype, and that first video, while choppy, was dramatic and creepy as hell ; and showed a lot of potential. So interesting work, overall. ?

The idea of this entry is great, however the gif quality is a bit lacking...

Not sure how much work and effort it takes to make these, but maybe you could work a bit on the .gifs?

I think if done correctly the gif can certainly add something screenshots can't. There are plenty of other people like Cr0w or Wanobi that do show that.

But right now the entry is kept down my the gif quality .

Certainly. But 1 FPS gifs are closer to a slideshow than to a video. And slideshows are basically still images. I would've gone for 1600x900 screenshots with some background music personally, which would've allowed better image quality and dialogues/onomatopoeia to increase the drama/immersion. Wanobi uses gifs for special effects, but with comic images before and after to ensure the storytelling. Ther1pper recently did a video at the start of one of his entries.

The point is, gifs are there to precise the motion via animation. If you don't really use the animation, they don't add the motion effect, while not retaining the qualities of regular comics either. In that case, better do good comic stills, rather than bad gifs, IMO.

Yeah it's just idea and concept Art basically the gifs were a pain to do and is the best I could do for now. I was gonna try to fix them but the choppy frames seem to add to the creepiness. till I can find something better if you have any ideas I'm open to them. And thank you looking and commenting. ;)

Just curious... Did you guys click on the quality button sd to hd?  I just remembered I made the gif vids 1920 x 1080

Thank you for being open to criticism. :classic_wink:

Well basically, you've got two choices :

  • Either go for real gifs (or videos). You need to capture your game as a video content, and then to edit it. This would require a reduced resolution (but at best with a lossless codec) on the source video, and then to edit it via video editing softwares (such as VirtualDub). And then, and only then you convert them into gif or MPEG4. The result should be as fluid as a regular video.
  • Or, shoot your screens and turn them into comics just like you do for your usual works (or with a bit more attention on reading order and fonts deformation maybe :classic_angel:). Then you can just link a video at the start to add the background music. Depending on how it's made, it can give you the same effect, but with more intimidating high resolution pictures. Such as this one :
  • 1660424283_MaylinsTest0033.jpg.e24c98754

In other word, either go for fluidity with gifs, or go for quality with still images.

No, I didn't. But even as 1920x1080 the quality of the images is still reduced due to the compression. Better go for still images in that case. Or fluid 640x480 gifs. But choppy gifs aren't a good compromise IMO.

This was interesting, but Im not really into videos and gifs stuff from the blog section personally.

I can see you really put a lot of thoughts and effort for this and idea was cool ?.

Great work ?

Oh dear, having done videos in the past, I can say - Huge respect to your patience and creativity for that second spoiler (and of course for the whole work in general). ?☺️  The 1 minute clip that you made must've taken hours as even getting the music to match the screens can be a huge pain. The concept for the story is exciting and sufficiently nightmarish.  The fact that the inspiration came to you from a simple hairstyle makes your work all the more impressive. ?

From what I understand, the screenshots and mini-gifs that follow the main transformation clip are your story concepts and practice shots. Which is completely fine. This gives you the ability to hone your skills in making these while you also gather feedback and suggestions from the viewers. Plus even creepy Maylin sill looks hot ?. One possibility for future entries could be an introductory video/gif of the sorts you created here, followed by the continuation of the story made in comics format. Or you could concentrate on making smaller gifs that fit into the narration directly (similar to Wanobi's works).  Regardless of what you decide to do - keep practicing and experimenting. You have a real knack for storytelling and a talent for visuals, plus a good sense of humor. ?

Looking forward to more of your work and thank you for sharing your stories, ideas and screenshots/clips with us. ?

When I said I didn't know what to say after seeing this entry in your profile @Devianna said it perfectly what I wanted to say but didn't know how in that moment. Thanks Dev. You are brilliant commentator. :)

It. Just. Fucking. Amazing! I mean, I'm even jealous that it wasn't me who invented it.
Even if we forget that I'm bent on "transformation" and "corruption" stuff, the whole concept and general idea is great, as it seem to me ^_^

Thanks You Guys!  It was just an idea for character I wanted to get opinion on before I forget. The program I used to make this was a huge pain in the ass. It was fine at first but something happened that made the program respond slow as Fook then I said Fook it this will have to do for now. But I have an upcoming story using small clips but not that many. It's all done except for one funny scene. I will post it later on maybe tonight or tomorrow. Gotta redo Maylin's face her preset got messed up. I keep trying to fix her chin and jaw but sculpt edit is being a pain in the Arss! ;)

I get the vibe, it's like the video tape in the ring or something. The low frame rate and silence makes it feel creepy and weird, I dig it.
