My take on the Story of Nora, using my heavily modded game as the starting point, and adding in some dialogue that Bethesda didn't give us, but should have.

Chapter Thirty-three: Murkwater Construction and Pilgrim’s Point.

“What the hell is that?” asked Maccready in an alarmed voice.   The party had been slogging through marshland for the last hour, often up to their waists in cold water. Nora was in her power armor, and so water wasn’t a problem for her, though she did worry about her people. There were mirelurks in this swamp, lots of them, and everyone had to stay alert. Dogmeat was restricted in his scouting abilities by having to swim at times. Dogbot even more so, as he couldn’t float and had to wa

“Picking up a Minuteman alert,” said the voice of the assistant built into Nora’s Pip-boy. She wasn’t sure she wanted to hear it, but the Minutemen and the settlements they guarded were her primary responsibility. If the Slog was under attack, many days walk away, then they were on their own. But if something closer needed help, it was on her to provide it.   “Settlers at Warwick Farm are requesting Minuteman help,” said the voice of Major Talbert over the radio. “Any units within rang

Chapter Thirty-one: Synth Troubles

“I’m sorry, Robert,” she told the man, who seemed to be sulking. “It was a get together of old friends. I’m sorry if you felt left out.”   “It’s just that I was hoping you would spend some time with me, Boss,” said Maccready, hanging his head. “And I’m sorry I’m acting like such a little child.”   “Oh, come here,” said Nora, taking him by the hand and leading him into the General’s Quarters. “We don’t have time for much, so how about a blow job.”   “Sure thing, Boss

Chapter Thirty Taking Independence

“I’m not sure I like the idea of changing this place,” said one of the settlers, a middle aged woman who worked one of the scrapping stations in the large chamber, pulling objects out of the QESS and disassembling them for use down the line.   Then you can transfer out, thought Nora, taking in all of the smiles and head shakes that signified the approval of the others.   “And if we work as one of the girls?” asked a pretty young blond who must have been sixteen. “Damned Gunners,” cursed Heather as they passed a half dozen of the mercenaries on the street. The high-end mercenaries were mostly in military fatigues with metal combat armor over the top. Two new recruits were dressed in jeans, flannel shirts and combat boots, probably waiting to prove themselves before they received the standard issue.   Nora thought they were arrogant, not that they really deserved to be. While, from what she could tell, they were good enough combat troops, they

Chapter Twenty-eight From Bunker Hill to Goodneighbor

“I’ll give you seventy-five caps to fuck you in the ass,” said the caravan guard, sliding into the seat next to Nora’s at the bar.   Her people were already asleep in the room they were sharing, but Nora had been restless. She had taken a room by herself, since three in one of the smallish beds was extremely uncomfortable. They were almost out of money, and Nora had already been thinking about doing a little whoring at Bunker Hill.   “The going price is a hundred and fifty ca

“Motherfucker,” cursed Nora as she felt the bone in her right forearm snap. The intense pain radiated from the break, letting her know that her heightened sensitivity to feelings could also be a major drawback.   Nora swung a left fist into the head of the Glowing One, rocking it back. She took some quick steps back, to put some distance between her and the powerful monster, then reached over and pulled her .44 automag from its holster. The Glowing One was back on her in a moment, and

“If you could get my grandpa’s sword back for me I would be much obliged,” said Abraham Finch, the expression on his face a mixture of anger and lust. From the look on Abigail Finch’s face he wasn’t getting any.   “What about Jake?” asked the pretty black woman. “Don’t you care what happens to your son?”   “I didn’t raise my son to be a Raider,” growled the farmer. “As far as I’m concerned, he’s dead to me.”   “What’s so special about this sword?” asked Barb.

“Well, they’re Supermutants,” said Heather. “So, I guess they need killing.”   Nora could think of several reasons to kill the big brutes. Just being where they were they were a threat to several settlements. Wiseman thought they were interfering with the Traders who were buying his Tarberries. And this place was on Rhys’ list.   “Anyone see the suiciders?” she asked over the radio.   “A pair of them are hanging out on the left side of the portico,” said Heather. “I

Chapter Twenty-four: Bunker Hill and back north.

After escorting the four women who didn’t want to live next to the water to County Crossing, expanding that settlement to eleven, they headed back to Bunker Hill. Barb and Heather chatted with the men they had entertained the night before, all smiles and a few blushes. They wouldn’t have time to make that a permanent thing, unless they resigned from her service. That was always possible, though she hoped not. Still, she was very happy to see that they had gotten their needs met with the men they

Chapter Twenty-Three: Judge Zeller

Nora wanted to check out Nordhagen beach, to see if she could get a settlement going there and start on getting some salt extraction. Salt was a vital resource in itself, used in cooking, and necessary for a well-functioning system. There was a whole ocean of saltwater sitting less than a mile away, but she needed a settlement so she could build the extractors. With the red workbenches and the QESS systems she could build anything. Without them she was extremely limited in what she could do.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Drugs, Tobacco Firearms and Lasers, a Federal Agency office, was only about three blocks for Bunker Hill. Nora had to wonder why the hell the people at Bunker Hill hadn’t moved and taken them out, since they had the guns, what with all of the Caravan people that hung out there. It seemed that Bunker Hill was all about the money, and if they could pay off the Raiders, no matter how despicable the gang, they would.   A couple of Raiders were hanging out on the fron

An eye bot cruised through the air, shouting a spiel about jobs waiting at Cambridge Polymer Labs. Nora recalled that lab from before the war. Press releases had shouted its wonders, especially the new self-charging pieces for power armor. She wasn’t sure how far they had gotten before the bombs dropped, but it was worth checking out.   “Let’s look this place over,” she told her people as the stopped before the Lab building. “We can still get to Bunker Hill before dark, I think.”

Next morning Nora set up a terminal with instructions on it, then set a letter on the desk to let new settlers know what they needed to do. The Recruitment Beacon was powered up and running, but there was no telling when the first resident would arrive. First thing they ran into the on the road was the Lonely Chapel. The small church appeared over the hill they were walking up. And as soon as they saw it they were under fire.   Nora went to a knee and started flashing hand signals to h

“So, what did you learn in your meeting with the Brotherhood?” asked Preston Garvey, lying naked beside his general in her bed, one hand playing with a strand of her hair.   Nora took a second to get her breath under control, reveling in the orgasmic glow of their lovemaking. She had been so glad to see her people in Sanctuary, and Garvey had obviously been more than happy to see her. She wondered if he was banging any other settlers. Not that she would blame him. “You sure you want to do this?” asked Heather, her eyes scanning the buildings ahead. “The Brotherhood of Steel may not be who you think they are.”   “They did a lot of good in the Capital Wasteland,” said Barb, going to a knee and aiming in on an approaching ghoul. Barb squeezed the trigger and sent the round across the several hundred yards and into the head of the ghoul, the suppressed rifle almost silent.   “Different time, different people.”   The party was app

The next morning Nora went shopping, first stopping at Arturo’s place to buy some good quality hand weapons and some more rockets, then some junk tech from Mirna. The Choice Cut Meat Market let her stock Home Plate, while the robots built some automated planters that she sowed with mutfruit, corn and tatoes. She needed the starch from the corn so that she could make adhesive, and tatoes and mutfruit could go into supply kits for the tech and salvaging teams she was planning to send out.

I was starting to get scared.”   “I had business in Diamond City,” said Nora, holding up a hand. “Sorry, but its true. But you’ve got her back, so how about it? Sign on with the Minutemen?”   “If

“There’s some settlers at Oberland station asking for help, General,” said Preston Garvey one night after making love to Nora. Between Preston, Sturgis, Conrad and her girls, she was getting all the sex she could handle, and she was ready to hit the road and try out her new body in combat.   Nora had spent the last two weeks working on herself, or going into Lexington and stripping the place of anything useful. One day she had gone back to Corvega and Med-Tek labs, stripping out every

Nora let out a sigh as she looked over the familiar landscape, in her mind’s eye seeing it as it had been over two hundred years before. The Super-Duper Mart that she had shopped at was still there, still mostly intact. The parking garage that she had parked her own Corvega coup at was there as well. So many familiar buildings that had made Lexington what it was. Some were bomb damaged, many not, only showing signs of weathering.   “I never liked this place,” said Barb, standing to the

They had left Sanctuary Hills before the sun had come over the horizon. Nora had wanted to get the most use out of the daylight she would have. The red and yellow horizon showed that it was probably going to be a clear day, or at least a clear morning. Looking at her Pip-Boy, she thought the best rout was to go overland from Concord to USAF Olivia. About three to four hours. If she could clear out the station in a couple of hours, she might be able to make it to Ten Pines well before the sun was
