i am building a new pc... i have modded oldrim on my old pc exactly as i want it and my goal is to "transplant" the current files and config to the new pc. is there a way to do this without reinstalling each mod 1-by-1 and configuring it by hand? i have some merged mods that i'm not sure of all the mods that i used to merge. i think i can pack them up into a BSA and then it will aggregate all the files associated with that merged mod (i think) but if anyone has any experience or advice it would be much appreciated!

What mod manager do you use?

If it's MO, it should be as simple as ;

1) Copying the downloads, mods, and profiles folders from inside your MO folder.

2) Transferring them to your new PC with a flashdrive or cable.

3) Installing Skyrim and MO on your new PC.

4) Replacing the downloads, mods, and profiles folders in your new copy of MO with the copies of your originals.

You'll have to reinstall any executables that are outside MO of course ( Loot, TESVEdit, ect ), but that should do it.

If your game is installed on a non-OS drive you can install the drive in your new pc. Another option, which I have done, is to copy the Data folder to an external drive and from there copy it to a new drive. Of course this meant that all my mods were now effectively manually installed instead of through my mod manager, but that was ok because I have a core load order that never changes. This is probably bad advice but if you don't care like I didn't then it doesn't matter

For NMM Users:

See post #8 from Aensland_src

New computer - how to transfer NMM setup & mods to a new machine?

Another method by using the Administrator Command Prompt:  mklink

Move Your Games without Breaking their Mods

For MO Users:

See S.T.E.P. thread:

Transfer MO mods & settings to different PC?

"As long as you got the mods folder and the profiles folder with you then you can load up the profiles you created with all mods ready to go.

You need to run the game to generate ini files before starting the game though MO first though"

"Set up the other machines as you would normally, install MO on each and ensure MO starts Skyrim with no difficulties to generate ini files before starting the game though MO.

Copy across the folders from your machine, and possibly the 'downloads' folder if you think they will be making changes to that setup, and select the profile name in their drop down list.

The mods for that profile should become selected and all the plugins as well and the game should run exactly the same as yours, assuming of course any ENB presets are also cared for."
