About a hundred years ago, pee was still being collected at a large scale and used for various purposes, like de-oiling Sheepwool during the making of Fabric - yes people spent days in a Tub of stale Urine smelling of Ammonium, kicking woolen Fabrics with their bare Feet, so that other people can wear them as clothes afterwards. Nowdays people reacting with disgust, when a normal body-function or the related habits are even mentioned. Its a taboo for some reason.
