Atenos Aries Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 First off, let me just say that I love this game and the efforts put into it by the members of this community! I was never able to really get into it before due to how alone the SS felt. So I downloaded a good companion mod (Heather) and played around with 4play until I got it working well. And now I'm having a blast! But I do have a question. Why are sex mods so limited in F4? For just straight sex it seems like there are two options. Sex-em-up and shooting her with Crazy's gun lol. Both get the job done, but when I look at skyrims, FNV, etc., they just seem like they're missing a lot of features. I'm NOT a modder and I have no idea what goes into these mods, scripting-wise. From what I understand, F4 and SSE share more or less the same engine. Would it not be easier to port elements of SexLab over to 4play and roll on with it? Or am I completely out in left field? I'm not looking to start a s**t-storm and I'm NOT critisizing the wonderful people that patiently build, tweak, test and release these mods! I'm just wondering... Thanks! Atenos-Aries
Spyder Arachnid Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Should check out RSE with Family Planning. Pretty much takes care of all the options out there (well, you'll still need SexEmUp to just initiate regular sex when you want it). But as for why it is so lackluster compared to others? Simple. Not a lot of modders are interested in Fallout 4. Sure to most, they are thinking why is Fallout 4 so behind while all the others are so far ahead, but they forget that unless those modders actually want to work on Fallout, nothing is going to happen. All those people working on SexLab for Skyrim, or Sexout for Fallout, or even WickedWhims for The Sims, are just interested in those games, not Fallout 4. So we work with what we have. While it's only a few people, they have made huge strides just on their own. So while it may seem lacking in like animations, the features are plentiful at least. Thus why the suggestion of RSE and Family Planning. Family Planning takes care of all the pregnancy and baby stuff, while RSE takes care of pretty much everything else. From basic needs, to combat assault, to autonomy, prostitution, and tons of other stuff (even ghoulification). So the content is there, just we don't have a ton of separate modules for it all. It is all mostly contained within a couple mods for simple usage, instead of having ten or more separate mods for everything. The only major thing that Fallout is lacking compared to the others, is animations. While we have new animators working on stuff, the framework only supports two animation sets (Crazy and Leito). Until the framework is updated to allow modders to add their animations, then we are stuck with those for now. And don't take that as a bad thing as they are still nice, but we can't add anymore at the moment. Well hope that helps you understand a bit more as to why it feels so lackluster compared to others.
Atenos Aries Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Totally makes sense, thank you! It had seemed to me that everyone had hauled over to Fallout 4 when it first released, but maybe that was when it was the "Cool New Thing". As far as the animations go, I'm wondering. Is the F4 engine, in fact, the same as the SSE engine? Could animations from SSE be brought over somehow to F4 as a modding resource? I have NO idea how that would happen, but given that I'll be taking an extended break from Elder Scrolls, it might be interesting to learn how to do! And I will definitely check out RSE! Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! Atenos-Aries
gregathit Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Developing a sex system is hecka complicated, especially when tools must be created to make it function. You can read all about fourplay's development here: https://www.loverslab.com/topic/76258-four-play-framework-development-thread/
Phelps1247 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Also Skyrim has been out for 7-ish years now, Fallout 4 is like 2 and a half.
phillout Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 My biggest complaint with FO4 compared to Skyrim in the context of LL? No Amorous Adventures!

That is one of my favorite mods of all time.... There were several posts here about a FO4 version rumored to be in the works, but the threads are cold - no updates in a long time on them.

The greatest thing about AA is that the mod gives your character plenty of incentive to go through all this trouble of performing quests. While the Leisure Suit Larry type of character can be a bit too comical at times, but hey, when you think about banging the queen of Solitude, why hesitate before delving into a dungeon full of hostile mages and who knows what?

I like how integrated it is with the base game. Sure the dialogue is a little rough because it uses edited vanilla assets, but it is engaging and works pretty well. The Queen of Solitude is particularly "involved" as it requires the player to perform several tasks, vanilla quests, join the Bards College, have successful relationships with several people - just to complete that portion. At this point in my modding skills - I'm not yet adept enough with quest and dialogue mechanics to pull something like that off - but it is something I would be willing to tackle when I am more confident in my skills. For now, I'm sticking to more simple things.

Companions are out of question, since the game already has romance lines. Speaking of which, I don't see anything like Eager NPCs that would trigger morning sex scenes for lovers (or am I wrong?). The candidate, as I understand it, must be a unique NPC which is a part of some long and potentially dangeous quest you perform for them. For female NPCs, I can only think of Desdemona and MacKenzie from Nuka World. Momma Murphy is out of question, though she'd probably gladly whore herself for a doze of Jet. Daisy is kind of... acquired taste, even if she's sweet and all.
AWP3RATOR Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 To not take over this thread with Amorous Fallout Adventures, I replied to this post on that topic: https://www.loverslab.com/topic/56621-amorous-adventures/
