Do you play with the music turned off?

Do you play with the music turned off? If so, do you find it more or less immersive? I recently turned it off after realizing that it's rarely not playing music in this game, and personally I think it makes the game feel more believable. That being said there still is music in inns so it's not totally lost but what are your thoughts?

No music here.

Voices are set as low as possible so distant people sniffling bother me less.

"Spare a coin for a poor old beggar?"

"Come to chat with an old woman? Do your good deed for the day?"

Yeah, I turn them way down.

I used to have footsteps turned up until the deer and the antelope sounded like freight trains, so I turned that off too.

And the music gets all good (and distracting) just when a wolf is about to eat you.

I had a music bug (constant combat music) happen towards the beginning of a playthrough and rather than bothering to go searching for a fix, I just let it play and turned the music off. I didn't really notice the difference with the music off when walking around Skyrim, tbh. It's all white noise with music anyway. I will say that combat is immensely better without music though, imo. Even with a music replacer for combat, combat quickly becomes tiresome and the music is almost like an audio cue for you to roll your eyes to. Having the music off led to the occasional jumpscare but it was a generally less stressful experience. I'll probably stick to having the music turned off in future playthroughs.

Well said. The combat music is definitely a little too on-the-nose for me.

I have the inn music replaced with a mod called something like Bards Play Less and Realistic Medieval Music, something like that.  I couldn't take hearing the Ragnar the Red one more f'ing time.  The Skyrim ambient music I actually like, and I listen to it outside of game, but sometimes I turn off the music and listen to something immersive but different on youtube, like this...
