You only need 1 thread deleted your other one. People that had skyrim legendary edition got SSE free if you don't have the legendary edition then you'll have to get the SSE instead and legendary mods don't work with SSE unless you convert them to work with it and SSE mods don't work with the legendary edition.

Not sure what you mean. The regular mods are from legend edition. The special edition has it's own mods, cause it's spethial .. you know ... for the spethial people who use nmm and post complaining a texture replacer is causing the civil war to break.

Skyrim Legendary Edition = 32bit Skyrim with all DLC's (which is why it is called the legendary edition) - May also be called OLDRIM (aka Old Skyrim).

Skyrim Special Edition = 64bit Skyrim released in 2016.

There are some tools out to convert nif files from 32bit to 64bit ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4089/ ), and certain mods for Legendary can be converted over to the 64bit special edition (most mod's that can already have been converted).

Things that can't be converted over: SKSE (32bit) extensions, the authors of SKSE add-on's need to recompile there extensions for the SKSE64 (which is still in alpha/beta build).

Note: If you can't find a version of a mod for Special edition (either in the SE version of LL or on Nexus's site in the SE section) and the 32bit mod requires SKSE.... Then it will not run until what ever inside SKSE gets added to SKSE64 and or a SKSE64 extension is created to allow that part to work on SE... Then after SKSE64 is updated or a extension is created the mod author will need to see if it can be converted over (which can take some extra work).

I just did an internet search,

You can still buy it on Steam but just couldn't find it on the actual Steam interface.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/

Try "Open in Steam" button, your security will throw a prompt at you say open.

I think it should put you on that page.

If not you will have to buy a key but on Steam page right now and the purchase key is not blanked out so I imagine its probably still possible to gift them out.

You want Skyrim Legendary edition, you do not want SSE.

If you get SSE we will all see you here in a matter of a few days bitching about how you cant use the awesome sex mods available on Skyrim Legendary.

Don't forget people are here for a reason.

Saying that modders should just convert everything over to SSE is just a waste of typed words, if it was so easy all of that would have been done already and clearly it hasn't and its been years now.

If you really cant get it off Steam, you have other options get someone to gift it to you or purchase a game key off of another site like Amazon or another one of those sites likely they still have hordes of valid keys to activate in Steam.

With the fall creator's update to the ammount of VRAM DX9 games can use, I fail to see any reason to play special edition at all. I am currently playing Legendary with 16 gb of available VRAM. I have installed every high res texture I can find, every high poly mesh, the most awesome enb. It doesn't even stutter. It doesn't crash. Why would you even consider Special Edition? You get a fraction of the mods, they are almost all just ports anyway, and everytime steam updates it, they all break.
