I started a game as Leaf, I like the surprise! I'll see if there's a similar surprise as Red, because that would be a nice touch in my opinion.

Also I noticed there's a line spoken by Daisy that doesnt feel quite right to mePokemon-NaturalFireRedVersion0.1(USAEurope)(patched)_1754061279881.png.42cd4161b3b330753c155e38896a5d8b.png

I think it should say "i always thought you're more well-mannered than my brother" or "I always thought you were better mannered than my brother" instead, because it looks off for lack of a better term as it is right now.

The problem with Daisy's dialogue is that it has to fit within that box.

Maybe it could be:

"I always thought you're well-mannered

unlike my brother, but I see now"

or (though this may be too big)

"I always thought you had better

manners than my brother, but I see now"

You could take "but I see now" and take it to the next dialogue box, that might give the space, but i think your proposals are more elegant as they might not take as much space as mine. I was just saying that particular line didnt look right to me

I think "well-mannered unlike my brother" might be indeed better, thanks.

Yeah, I'd prefer not having to make more newlines just to fit in one or two words unless I really have to.

The recommended character limit for FireRed/LeafGreen is 35 which is less than Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald's 40 because those games' font is thinner.

Any more than that and you'll risk having the 'down' icon get cut off or hidden completely which the original game's text made sure to avoid.

Or worse, the text itself gets cut off due to too many words in one line or they're too wide because the font is proportional, not monospaced.

Natural FireRed / LeafGreen

BOULDERBADGE Release

Natural FireRed and Natural LeafGreen are Gen III versions of Bare Red and Bare Blue that take place in an alternate reality where Red travels across Kanto in his birthday suit. The nudity reaction dialogue edits are based on my Bare Red/Yellow work but they've been enhanced for the game's bigger text boxes. Furthermore, wild Pokemon encounters have been (mostly if not completely) edited to include all version-exclusive Pokemon so you could complete the Pokedex all in the nude with only one game if you so desire.

Being based on Bare Red/Yellow where you could only play as a male character, the dialogue is meant for playthroughs where you play as Red.

If you want dialogue for playing as a naked female character, I recommend PyrasButt's romhack.

However, I am experimenting with NPCs having different dialogue depending on the character's gender.

If you play as Leaf, you could test this feature in Pallet Town which now has an extra surprise.

Dialogue changes only last until you collect your 1st Gym Badge in Pewter City.

Both player character sprites are nude. If you only want sprite edits and don't want any dialogue edits, play Natural LeafGreen.

Known Issue:

If you lose the tutorial battle with your rival, the game may get stuck on black screen after reading the tutorial text box depending on the length of your name which may also change the behaviour of the text box (e.g. turns into auto advance). Editing this specific string of dialogue is strangely finicky than any other lines of dialogue I've edited.

Love to see that this is coming along well! And we're on similar paces, since I'm right at Pewter City as well. I'm super glad there's gonna be two naked adventures to be had in Kanto by two different creators!

Excited to see this now in the remakes!! Do you think we'll ever get a "naturalmon" version of the remakes too, or is the sprite work for that too much to consider?

There are plans for it but not really my top priority to do it myself. If someone wants to draw 'natural' sprites for the Pokemon, they're welcome to contribute.

I have reached the foot of Mt. Moon! I'm happy with the Route 3 interactions and am tempted to share all the screenshots, but it's probably best if I leave them as surprises for those who play the hack! I'm wondering, also, about new releases, and how best to handle it in terms of not losing save progress... At least with RetroArch, which I use, it should be feasible to maintain your save data between patch updates as long as you use the same name for your ROM with each patch released. I would hate to force everyone to replay the game from the start every time a new patch comes out...

Im not too certain how earlier gen patching works, but w Platinude, im able to overwrite the rom and it works just fine, i run on 3DS w TwiLight Menu

Considering I'm able to edit the ROM with HexManiacAdvance and then hop right back in with my current save in RetroArch, I feel like the save data should transfer okay with updates as long as everything is named correctly!

Like, let's say you downloaded my first patch release that only goes up to Pewter City, and you named the ROM "FireRed Nude Hack.gba" or whatever, if you download the next patch and apply it to a clean ROM again, I feel like your save data should still work if you make sure that newly patched ROM shares the "FireRed Nude Hack.gba." At least that should work okay with what I'm using!

If you only edited dialogue, it should be fine.

If you edit the script of a map like adding NPCs, changing their movements, or even expanding the map, there's a risk of ruining the save for anyone who happened to last saved in that map (they could spawn and get stuck in a glitchy map). Save states would also become incompatible if the ROM's hash is different due to changes made to the ROM.

True, good points. My advice, then, is to always save while inside a Pokemon Center! I'll not ever be changing anything in there, I'm pretty sure. I do have ideas I may add to other maps though...

Sometimes I get the urge to make minor edits to sprites.

But then I think about how many sprites there are in the game and I think... naw too lazy.
Battling in a miniskirt!? You're one gust away from an upskirt shot.

Its the simplist of edits like this that I appreciate greatly. not enough panties with all these sprite edits.

Some more progress on the female FireRed hack!

Giving the boyfriend and girlfriend ideas, chatting with some couples, angering a prudish girl in the Gym, and convincing Misty that the best way to swim is to do it naked!~

At what point in the game/story do you guys think I should release the next version of the patch? I'd like for it to be a pretty sizeable improvement, particularly because I assume many people will be starting the game from scratch if they played the first patch I put out. Maybe the next release could be Rock Tunnel and everything before it? Or would you like an update sooner, with what I have so far?

Because collecting Gym Badges is the main goal of Pokemon games before becoming a champion, I think dividing updates into each Gym Badge would be appropriate because beating a Gym is like a milestone for these games, like completing a chapter of a story so it'd feel natural to finish an update after each one.

For example, when I made the "THUNDERBADGE" update for Bare Red/Yellow where you resume your journey after collecting the Cascade Badge in Cerulean Gym, I edit every route and location starting from Route 5 until I reach Vermilion City which is where the next Gym is for the Thunder Badge.

But because the Gym is inaccessible until you acquire the Cut move in S.S. Anne, I also edited every part of S.S. Anne as well so the update ended up being decently big.

Otherwise, if I wanted a sizeable update, I could aim for content to be edited until I finish editing two Gyms rather than just one.

this sounds like its gonna be a minor issue once you reach the 5th badge, since by then the entire game gets opened to you, so when do you determine what gets done and how much gets done?

Its why the badges after the Rainbow Badge are in pairs, so next update for Bare Red is both Koga and Sabrina's Gyms,  then the update after that should be until the earth Badge, followed by a league update, I believe.

Even with the entire game's map accessible, I'll just stick to the order of Gym Badges so after the 5th badge in Saffron City, I'll just cover routes including buildings on the way that lead to the 6th gym in Fuchsia City and that would be the update after I edit everyone's dialogue in the city.

Then it'll be a trip through the sea routes where you collect the 7th badge on Cinnabar Island and then you return to Viridian City for the last badge.

Afterwards, the focus will be on endgame content. Easier said than done though, it gets exhausting having to edit every single NPC's dialogue for long periods of time.

at least cinnabar island to viridian will be super easy, if you cover for both sea routes all you have to worry about is just the gym.

I'll probably be putting out my next release once I've edited everything up to and including Rock Tunnel! Feels like that makes sense since that's a pretty major milestone

Random question, but since decomp advice came up in the thread. Does anyone know how one would go about implementing something like the Costume Box from the Unbound hack? Preferably in FRLG. I have some ideas for adding alt costumes but I have no idea how I'd even go about adding something like this.
