aifman7 Posted October 24, 2017 Author Posted October 24, 2017 You heard wrong, and again the amount of people worship MO is because it works exactly as it says it does, and NMM does not, particularly when trying to uninstall something. Or INSTALLING something too big. It will crash and then refuse to install anything from then on. Even MO2, despite its unfinished state, seems less buggy than Nexus Mod Mismanager. Oh god I 100% agree with you on big mod installs. NMM just doesn't seem to know what to do with mods over something like 750mb. And even trying to uninstall them after you've finally gotten them working is frustrating at best. For those really big mods, I just manually install them and hope for the best, while keeping a log of which one's I've manually installed into which directories so I can manually remove them if something breaks. And if they overwrite existing files? Yep, probably gonna forgo that mod unless I can get NMM to cooperate. I didn't mean to start down a tangent of which manager is best. You all are certainly more knowledgeable about that than myself. Personally, I say use what you prefer. As long as you can get the mods you want up and running, that's the important bit. Back on topic I've gotta say, I'm loving these recommendations you've all provided. Some really quality stuff here, I think I'm actually going to start a fresh game soon. I've got an idea for a new character and I have just the right mods in mind thanks to this thread...
Darkpig Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Just to clarify. Mod Organizer requires you go around and do some fancy shit just so bodyslide can work. Deviously Cursed Loot has a special plugin built into the installer just so it can work with MO. Edit: Why am I even arguing? Here I am scratching my ass trying to explain why you don't need Mod Organizer to install a large amount of mods.

Here I am scratching my ass trying to explain why you don't need Mod Organizer to install a large amount of mods. Yes the learning curve is steeper. No you do not need it with a large number of mods, however, if you have a large number of mods... you will inevitably run into conflict of assets. Mod organizer is the only mod that allows you to specifically customize the assets you prefer to use without pulling your hair out. Once you pass the initial learning curve, you would see that. But if you do not put the time to understand what it does, maybe you shouldn't try to argue how much it sucks until you fully understand it. Based on your posts... it is rather apparent that you do not understand the difference between MO and NMM. It is not that you NEED it. Or that it is superior at everything... but if you plan to run a heavy load.. and resolve conflicts specifically the way you want them to be resolved, then you are better off with it. That was the point I was trying to make before you derailed this topic with baseless statements about something irrelevant to the original idea of this thread.. It's good advice and I stand by it.

This is sounding like TES5 Edit. Pipe down you condescending monkey! I'm sorry for being rude except I'm not. All I said was you are wrong and here we are. Here you are saying you don't need it for a large number of mods but you do need it for a large number of mods. Which is it? Nobody is problem free when it comes to modding and if you are then you are a big fat liar. I already explained away the problems using say some random mod manager. I already explained that you can do away with any problems using TES5 Edit but what I didn't mention is that NexusModManager does most of the work for you anyway by allowing you to choose most files. If you want something that installs mods and fixes you coffee then use Mod Organizer. If you want something to install mods then use just about anything. Here is my war on doors: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79620/?
Lodakai Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 To clarify, You do not NEED it for installing a large number of mods. You NEED it to RESOLVE CONFLICTS in a large number of mods easily. This is what you don't get. And it's not rude to call me a condescending monkey. It's quite accurate =p ETA: TESVEdit is for DATA manipulation. MO is for ASSET manipulation. They are very different, but if you want to think of it like that sure. It's TESVEdit for ASSETS. Hope that is simple enough for you Pig. ;p
53army Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 And of course, mod organizer is the preferred mod utility for installing these mods if you plan to use a heavy load. I feel like shrinking an elephant. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11811/?tab=4&&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D11811%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D593117&pUp=1 Read the first post by fore *drinks rum* Do what you want cause a pirate is free~ You are a pirate~ I've never had a problem ::shrug:: besides FNIS, MO makes heavy modding MUCH easier in the long run. Take that information however you want, but that is my experience. I just read the sticky post and it's weird since Fore said FNIS doesnt work well with MO, because i never got any problem using FNIS with MO. Maybe it's Windows related issue since i use win 7 and fore said he use win 10, oh and i also never have any problem with Bodyslide

Maybe it's Windows related issue since i use win 7 and fore said he use win 10, oh and i also never have any problem with Bodyslide Well, Fore would have to explain himself what he means by that... but if I would guess, it is because of the way MO works. Since animations are sent to the overwrite folder, and given that most people don't know how to properly handle the files sent to that folder... it causes an extra step that Fore really can't provide support for... at least not without spending a considerable amount of time on answering questions that will inevitably arise quite often regarding that. It is much simpler to summarize the issue by saying it just doesn't work well and leave people to figure it out on their own. Many mods on nexus do a similar thing with sexlab by simply claiming that they do not work well with sexlab mods (such as legacy of dragonborn.) But they do work fine.. if you know what you are doing and how to handle it. It's not that it will not work well with MO... but it will not work well with MO if you do not know what you are doing. That's pretty much the bottom line.
Weird-Feathers Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48289/? This mod. Pull Mastery. Basically a grappling hook mod. loopie Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 So I've got my game modded up pretty well with adult content that's really enhanced Skyrim for me. That much is probably obvious since this is LoversLab and we're mostly all kinky here in some fashion or another. But adult content aside, I'm looking for some decent mods for standard stuff in Skyrim to make the gameplay experience better. I've beaten the game a half dozen times and even though I still enjoy it with the addition of all the adult content, I'm finding myself slightly bored with the game itself in certain areas and I'm hoping to find some stuff to freshen it up. Not really looking for anything in particular, I guess I'm more interested in what mods you folks consider "must-haves." I'm also not really looking at graphical enhancement stuff as I've got all that in place, mostly just core gameplay mechanics and other fun or useful "functionality" mods that dramatically improve the gameplay experience for the player. Do you use combat overhaul mods? If so, which? Any mods which add spells or new weapons that you love? Do you have mods that add new cells, buildings, NPC's? Any quest mods you have a lot of fun with? Any mods that add new skill trees, or skill overhaul mods? UI or other enhancement mods? (like the map overhaul mods, or clock mods like A Matter of Time) Etc... Anything that you personally use every time you play Skyrim, or anything that really stands out to you is what I'm interested in. If there's a thread that's already covered this, I apologize. I tried a few searches but didn't come up with much (aside from the "Hidden Gems" thread in a different subforum). Thanks in advance, folks. These are my current non-adult mods, but I do change them up dependign what I want a playthrough to be focused on. I will skip stuff like SkyUI, SKSE, Fnis, etc., just focus on actual game mods rather then their requirements. Listed here in no particular order: Lakeview Extended - with the additional rooms, NPCs and everything because I like to have a home for my horde of followers. Immersive Amazing Follower tweaks - because I like to have upwards of 30-40 followers, all decked out in custom stuff, often sexy or sex stuff. Also because they getto keep their custom gear I give them when being dismissed. And its far less buggy then UFO or EFF. My Home is Your Home - Goes superb with the 2 above, I can even have a few followers go work as fishermen at the docks by the lake during day and come back to sleep in the house at night. And when I dismiss them, they stay in in their assigned home locations and continue to live around there. Tons of fully voiced followers - with some of their own stories and quests such as Sofia, Vilja, Recorder, Arissa, Mrissi, etc. All fully outfitted by me and fully customized. ETAC Complete - Expanded Towns And Cities, as it says, great for additional places and those tiny villages are not so tiny anymore Better Quest Objectives - As its title says, very useful A Quality World Map - As its title says, I like it a lot Immersive Skyrim creatures - not the sex but the regular, get some extra spawns and tough and unusual monsters to fight. Simple Colored Quest objectives + compass - really really simple and very nice lockpick pro - guess what this is for .... Hunters not Bandits - corrects some hunters behavior issues makes them hunter like Bard play on request - as it says, got tired of non stop playing at the inns Better stealth AI for followers - this is great if you play sneaky types like I do, its so they don't ruin your stealth all the time Archery Gameplay Overhaul - I like playing rogue and archer types, this mod is awesome for me Immersive wenches - for the flavor if nothing else Relationship dialogue overhaul - its an awesome mod, goes especially well with other, already talkative follower or waifu mods. Additem menu - such an awesome utility. Enables me to spend more time playing instead of gathering or crafting, on occasion it can can even help bypass a quest bug or 2 by its ability to obtain quest items if needed. Face to face conversation - Awesome for immersion. It does what its title says. Friendly Guard helmets - simply modifies all the guard helmets so the guards look human where appropriate Better Vampires - for all vampire related stuff When vampires attack - helps when vampires attack towns and villages Run for your lives - helps when anything attacks your towns and villages Insignificant object, rock and clutter removers - helps increase performance while getting rid of some annoying crap Skyrim Optimization project - adds performance / stability Ordenador texture optimizer - adds performance / stability Interrior Fog remover - adds performance / stability Shadow remover - finally ditches those horrible skyrim shadows, not just that, but once their gone, mods such as facelight, etc. become absolete. Alternate Start Live Another Life - a super mod for modding without it, getting a fully modded game going is such a PITA. I will also usually run something like Dragonborn Legacy, or Bruma, or one of the otehr big content addition mods, but not all at once. For armors, outfits, I have been sticking with remodeled replacers + Amazing world of Bikini Armors for me and my followers + minidress collection replacers lately and it does fine. And of course ENBs of one flavor or another, I tend to jsut backup my entire game, takes only 2-3 minutes since am on SSDs, and just try them out. There are many, many more, but I don't run everything on every install / playthrough, so these are just the ones I run currently.

There are better options now, without the stupid stuff that MO causes. Main advantage of having MO is that does "partial" , "mod-by-mod" backups. So if you screw up its easy to restore. this is especially true on old systems and old hard drives. However, for those of us that have moved away from outdated hardware MO is nothing but a waste of time. There is no reason to use it anymore since my entire 57 GB Skyrim folder takes about 2 and a half minutes to back up, along with everything in it. Thats a lot less time then MO takes with a lot of single mods on same system ! LOL, just LOL @ that ! So personally I ditched MO about a year and a half ago and haven't looked back since.

Well since this thread is about what mods you swear by... why not share the mod tools you claim do what mod organizer does instead of saying "other tools" or "better options". What mod do you use to selectively filter out problematic nif files or scripts when you cannot determine the mods that have overwritten some of these assets? What mod are you using for multiple profiles? How are you finding out what mod each individual file in your directory belongs to? How are you running skyrim in a clean directory for creating something with the CK without other mods or their assets loaded? How are you updating mods while still maintaining the old versions and their complete setup in case something goes wrong? I'm very interested in the other tools you are using to replace MO.

If there is a waypoint on my map, I'm going to head directly toward it, roads be damned. Probably like most of you, I've gotten so good at mountain climbing that I can 'feel' where the terrain seams are and which ones are going to let me get one or two jumps in to make headway on a particularly difficult slope. This is going to save me so much time. You da real MVP!
Lodakai Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 This one just made my list https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87635/? Brand new on nexus if you haven't seen it. Makes npcs only start their banter if you are facing them rather than constantly shouting at you from every direction. "yea? wadda ya want?!" Best part... no ESP! SKSE script only
Heinzelman Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 One of my must haves is "Modded Loot" (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64778/?) This one adds a very simple way to get armour and weapon mods ingame as loot. Together with "worlds dawn" (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73094/?) you can find that new loot with interesting (yet very powerful) enchantments. And a more positive thing: Enemy Bandits not only drop that loot, they are actually using it (so too powerful items can be used against the PC, e.g. Heal-Procs, stuns, lightning procs on hit etc) Some examples of items which you can get with this combination:

Grim1968 Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 For me, I cant play w/o bodyslide, UUNP, Alternate start, Levelers Tower= Central lacation with more storage than any pack rat will ever need, Dragonborn Hideout, Perfect Leveling=200 plus levels of destruction!, FNIS, XPMSE, HDT, any one of the hundred plus skin replacers... Demoniac has several different body types to choose from... KS hair and Apacchi skyhair, Coverwoman Extra glitter option, My pick for a follower mod is Sofia, she is just an awesome follower. My weapon mods are Weapons of the 3rd era, Stormcloak Hero Weapons and Lilith's Lacerator. I have a rather heavy load order of around 220 mods depending on who I load up and my game runs rather well with just LOOT and NMM. ... I didnt see any of these mentioned
SmedleyDButler Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Inigo. Without a doubt the single best follower in ANY game I've ever seen. Now you can't bang him, so that may disappoint some LL users, but really, he's probably Skyrim's most amazing mod.

Mod Organizer requires you go around and do some fancy shit just so bodyslide can work. That might have been true at one point - i.e editing one of Bodyslide's .xml files, if I remember correctly. But now, I don't think there are any extra steps to use it with MO, other than the expected question the program asks - that being what game you with to use it for, which applies to first installing it, and when updating it. Though there is also using it, which is obviously different. Generating meshes for outfits that are associated with a group, can have all the information needed to place the files correctly, so you could have the files placed to overwrite the meshes in the existing mod, or point it to the directory of a "mod" made to hold files to replace the original, without overwriting(likely if you use either more than one body preset). On the other hand, generating meshes for outfits that are not associated with a group, will place the files in the overwrite(more specifically a CalienteTools/Bodyslide folder), and you would need to move the files yourself to properly replace the meshes. It is one extra step, maybe two(so it is not shoved into one long line), as far as I can tell - which works. - Right-click on the Overwrite line, selecting "Create Mod". - Name is new "Mod", likely something related to the currently used profile, etc. Then toggle/check/activate the new mod. Otherwise... Settlements Expanded - Adds more to Heartwood Mill, Sarethi Farm, Whistling Mine(Blacksmith), Soljund's Sinkhole, and Kolskegger Mine. Also adds a new settlement, Coldstone Mine. Sovngarde - Mist's Font Replacer - Fit's a lot better with the game, though I don't exactly think the vanilla font choice was bad. Disable Quick Save(SKSE Plugin) - As suggested, a simple SKSE plugin that forces the Quick Save key to do a full save(you'll see a Autosaving... on screen, similar to scripted saves), instead of a quicksave. Smooth Interface - Increases the FPS cap for menus to be either 60 or 120, rather than 30. Has compatible files for a number of mods. Book Covers Skyrim - Makes every book, journal, note, etc, in the vanilla game and DLC unique.
Canaris Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Aside from obvious things like Cbbe/Unp bodies and various small mods like netimmerisve override, pre cache killer, racemenu etc i would never play Skyrim without : Holy trinity of Hunterborn, Frostfall and Ineed. Immersive weapons/armours. Convinient horses. Apocalypse spells. Bathing in Skyrim. All of Bijn beautifiers for female Npc. Live another life and Character Creation overhaul. Ordinator. And lrobably few more that i even forgot exist.
