Upgrading process of FNIS to FNIS XXL?

Recommended Posts

I just want to ask if i have FNIS regular version installed, can i just instal FNIS XXL and overwrite FNIS or will that cause problems?

I have a shitton of animation mods installed and i've basically hit the limit, so i'm now wondering what's the easiest and safest way of install FNIS XXL without possibly re-installing all my sexlab animations and other anims.

Just install FNIS XXL and rerun the FNIS executable to take into account the new animations. (The .esp name is the same, so it will just overwrite the original).

It's a possibility a lot of bad things might happen if you overwrite your regular fnis. Whether or not those bad things are related to your act of overwriting your regular fnis is a matter of circumstance and probability. Those bad things might not on the face of it have anything to do with your overwriting of the regular fnis, however just the notion that those bad things might occur, (however remote the possibility that the update had anything to do with it), might lead you to the conclusion that not overwriting your regular fnis will be best for you and society as a whole. If you overwrite and bad things occur it's all your fault. (I will be looking at news broadcasts just so we know who to blame).

Probably :shy:. If you are doing it for an existing save game just make sure the FNIS.esp is in the same load order position as it was before or just overwrite install with the XXL version and it's scripts which is probably easier and won't change your load order, (then rerun FNIS executable).

Actually you should be aware, if you arn't already, that adding tons of animations can cause a save not to load. There are a number of ways around this. i.e. load a start safe save then the offending save or coc into a test cell, then load a start save. The easiest method, (other than not having a ton of saves), is to use Load Game CTD fix, (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/? ), which just does the two loading things automatically. (Don't install/enable that on a new game, i.e. until all MCM's are configured and you have either left the cave, or prison cell if you use alternate start). None of these options are a 100% guaranteed, but it does reduce the occurrence significantly.

Edit: Ignore that bit scratched because I muddled it up with Continue Game No Crash which was the previous version. Anyway still use it.

ye i do have the load game CTD fix.

i'm using NMM tho, so i dont think i can change load order, it'll probably go right to the bottom.

For NMM when you install FNIS it will give you the option to either install new or overwrite(*). Just do the overwrite and everything will be in the same place. Also you can change if necessary, (but not necessarily necessary), the load order on the plugins tab by clicking on the esp/esm and pressing the up/down arrow icons. But if you have never needed to do that before, no need to start fiddling now.

(*) My terminology might be a bit wrong there as I don't use NMM that much. It might be Yes to All.

i installed xxl but it wont appear nnm

I use NMM. I usually uninstall the current version of a mod (any mod, FNIS or no) and then install the new version. I've done it for years and never had a problem as I recall. I always run FNIS and LOOT afterwards whether I need to or not (better to run them when not needed than to forget and not run them when needed).

@GreyCloud Im a little confused about this and as you are using NMM ill ask you trying to be certain that i dont fuck things up. Do i just uninstall the old Fnis without deinstalling creatures+spells+sexy moves? This is on an ongoing game and i wont fuck this up so is it safe to uninstall Fnis and then install the XXL version without making damage?

Yes.

1. Uninstall FNIS (no need to touch Creature Pack or PCEA2).

2. Install FNIS XXL

3. Run FNIS XXL

If your problem is related to too many animations then why not stick with your current FNIS and just use this:

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/134659-animation-limit-crash-fix/

(That's the LE version)

Just drop the dll file in the SKSE\plugins folder. You don't need to use NMM.

The 'src' thing is the source code which you don't need.

SKSE folder

I hope you mean the plugins folder.

FNIS will give warnings about CTD risk etc but they can be ignored, the game will work.

It tells you when you fire up FNIS:

NOTE2 (VERY important!!!):
You can increase your animation number DRASTICALLY with these tools:
Animation Limit Crash Fix (Skyrim SE and LE), SSE Engine Fixes (Skyrim SE only)
Since FNIS cannot know if such mod is installed, it will still warn you at the original limit.
But when such tool is used, load calculation can be switched off (FNIS.ini: "LoadCTDCalculation=0")

So I overwritten FNIS with XXL and when I update behaviour, I get error(5): not found

Uninstall and try again from scratch.

Is that all the error message says? Is that the only error message?
