SexLab Fade to Black

Yes, I've been dreaming of such an option to fade all that creepy pre-sex stuff. But now I am not happy for two reasons. First, I miss those promenades to bed with my partner took place after the consensual dialogue - they are faded, shaded, whatever, I miss them. Second, you know, this mod did not show me it's proper work first time I used it: the timer settings came to disorder, animation scenes started to change too fast, moreover, during the other change the black screen emerged and did not vanish until I toggle this mod off via MCM. Have not picked the right MCM configuration? I don't know what I did wrong...

Not sure.

There are a few fading options, some of them may not be OK on your configuration (this is the reason there are many.)

And the mod applies the fate to "all" SexLab animations (you can filter just by player involved or not.)

But in case is the walk that you are missing, then don't use "animation starting" use "animation start".

The latter advice helped, thanks. Nice walk we took with my love up the Breezehome stairs straight to bed  Love the idea of automatic camera. The hands are free... Though in the middle of scene the display faded, unfortunately. With ENB off. But when I turned it on, I noticed no difference as if it looked bright as usual. Again I switched ENB off, and the display grew halfway darker.

Tha fade, that is done with ImageSpaceModifiers, is not really supported by ENB.

I think on the first post I put a possible solution, by enabling the color shaders of ENB. But it has a serious impact on performance.

Eh. I remember requesting this way way back. Glad to see someone actually created it. Now let's hope and my ENB doesn't fuck it up :/

Sadly ENB often creates a problem with color-based ImageSpaces.

On the first post, there is a possible solution but reduces the FPS.

Welp, besides the game is fading to solid grey and not to black, everything is fine :P

Cpu, is doable an even more aggresive transition? for example, apply the fading effect inbetween animations and from stage to stage.

Yes, technically it is possible.

I cannot find the "APPLYGAMECOLORCORRECTION" entry in the enbeffect.fx file?!

Probably your ENB has a different way yo do it.

Uninstall the mod, load, play, save, reload, replay, reasave, reinstall. (Edge of tomorrow way.)

hahaha, now my head is spinning.

I will try it. But as of yet it did not work on a already running save (later installation) nor on a new game. Will report back, I need this feature so badly!!!

Like really badly .... I hate that "puppeteer" section when the characters align for the animation... so immersion breaking.

I did this mod for FunnyBizness.

Hahaha, the irony... I just had to disable his complete animation package because I had to get below 10k animation count.... (and I rotate packs from time to time).

And now with the new mod profile the fade to black works!!!

To be correct, the black not so much, it only flashes black for a second. But I now use the blur instead and dig into the "black" and "ENB" stuff later...

Thx so far, great way to improve immersion, really!

So.... tested this some more and it seems I cannot run any configuration of Fade to Black without getting a crash with some C++ error message :(
I tried with black and blur, with or without the ENB filter option in MCM.

Will try to get some info about my ENB on how to possible fix this. Too bad ?

This feature is so cool, but ENB just too important.

There should be an option in the mod that should be ENB safe.

In case it does not work, tell me the exact config of the ENB you are using (mods, ENB version, etc.) and I will try to reproduce and fix.

This is a great mod but unfortunately the problem with ENB with the default setting is quite a shame as that's the only setting (start to start) that I can make work relatively well.

With ENBs, I have try to play around with the values with the "Start at AnimStarting" setting but there seems to be a weird issue with it. No matter how long I set the fade time (I set it to 10 sec), the blackness will always go away when the animation is actually starting, even though I want the fade to persist a little bit longer after the animation starts because the two actors are still lining up at that point.

The ending stage settings are also a little buggy as sometimes it works extremely well, but sometimes the fading bugged out where it starts to fade and god completely black as intended but only for a split second and then go back to light again, even tho I set the fade duration to maximum 10 sec. The bugging out usually happens when I'm trying to view the scene with the free floating camera (tfc), so maybe that's the cause?

I think if you can somehow fix the black fading duration with the two settings that are compatible with ENB's, then this mod would be perfect, but currently it only works some of the time, which is a shame as I really like the concept of the mod.

Sadly ENB removes the ability to apply ImageSpaceModifier with color correction.

So I cannot make the mod really compatible with ENB.

I understand that, so I was wondering if you can take a look at the other setting "At AnimStarting" - which is what I'm currently using for the game with the ENB fix applied. Currently it works, sort of. The fading to black works at first when SL is initializing so when the characters are undressing and teleporting to positions, the screen is black, but no matter how long I set the fade duration (I set it to max 10 sec), the screen always return to normal after about 2 secs right before the animation actually begins, so we still get a split second of seeing the characters being lined up before the scene starts properly.

I think right now that option is bugged because it either does not play well with the PC teleporting around to line up for the scene or it has a hard-coded stopage when the SL animation's first stage is starting. I would like the fading to starts when SL is initilizing and continue to be black for whatever the duration is set in the MCM, regardless of the current SL animation stage.

Basically, in short, I think the fade duration settings for the "Start at AnimStarting" do not work correctly because no matter how much you set it, the fading will always stop once the first stage of the animation starts animating. If this bug is fixed, I think this mod would be perfect.

hello, is it possible for me to open this in the CK and make it form 44 and special edition compatible?

Yes. Go for it.

Long time coming back to this mod, so I'll say this to people who wants to usean  ENB with this mod, SnapDragon ENB is the only ENB so far that I've found to work properly with this mod w/o the ENB fix. I think this is because instead of using the internal ENB system to adjust the image color like many newer ENBs. Snapdragon uses enbpallette, which does not interfere with this mod's ImageSpace function.

If anyone found any other ENB settings that work with this mod w/o the need to use the ENB fix, please post them.

Ok, I am on wits end...

1. ENB or not, I get C++ Error message and CTD sometimes when scenes start. Without Fade2black this is never the case

2. I used the enb.fx fix but it kills the looks... I use clarity ENB and enhanced light and FX and now when I use "#define APPLYGAMECOLORCORRECTION" my game is bright as hell while I cannot change brightness from settings or in ENB settings. I also dont know what other effects are turned off...

3. black screen suddenly worked for me without using the command from above after I switched from MO1 to MO2.... lol?!
It still did not work reliably.

4. the mod seems to completly ignore my timer settings. the blackscreen never lasts long enough, no matter what timing I set.
AnimEnd and in general everything that is set to happen at the end of a sexlab scene is never in time (i think ONCE it really faded out 3 seconds or so before the anim really ended). all the other times not.

5. blur in general worked better in terms of timing at least at the beginning of scenes. it tended to be far off also at the end of scenes.

So... I m dont know what to do anymore lol... and I also have no idea why this or that happens at all :D

Added a better fix for ENB by using the same method and image spaces as the mod Go to bed.

Override SexLab - Fade to Black with my files and within the MCM, toggle "Fix ENB fading 2".

Some options will be greyed out, but unlike the original ENB fix, it will work on all modes.

Greyed out options are:

  • Type of fade to use.
  • Start fade transition time.
  • End fade transition time.

I've tested and it works great with Rudy's ENB. I didn't test all ENBs and all modes though, so let me know if you still have problems.

EDIT: New version download below.

^ Updated (06/02/2019):

Plugin

  • Cleaned image space entries.
  • Reduced transition time to better suit SexLab.

Scripts

  • Cleaned the original code (mostly redundant code).
  • Fixed some minor bugs.
  • Enforced a minimum time for transitions.
  • Added a lock primitive to prevent race conditions between SexLab events.

You can post it as you own mod.

Or, if you prefer, I can add your patch to the main download.

Up to you to decide.

Why? Because a post will be hard to find after a while.
