I can't comfortably roleplay anyone but a stupid unfrozen pre-war vault dweller and I hate it

FNV : Stupid courrier that was shot in the head and somehow wants to know why and/or finish the delivery

this is what i love about vegas the most actually, you are not limitted in anything with your character. you can be anyone from anywhere, the only thing that is solid about your back story is that you've been on the road for a long time one day took a simple delivery job like another one of countless side quests and it turned out like it did. that gives you freedom to craft your own story and base your desicions though the game on it and not forcing some npc "friends" and "relatives" into my face that i'm suddenly supposed to care about and be fish-out-of-the-water-turned-killing-machine all over again

Which is what they said about FO3, NV and Skyrim just after their last DLC's.

Many of us FO3/NV modders are still learning the new CK and waiting for all the fickle "want it all now" people to go elsewhere :P

i didn't get sick of skyrim that fast, when it came out i played it for hundreds of hours without any mods and then thousands of hours with all the mods i could find, and i'm still playing it now btw. with F4 however i got tired after about 3 months. a week before the nuka-world release i downloaded all the dlc and mods i could find, fixing a lot of issues with the game but i could only play it for another month or two. the game just doesn't do it for me. i could forgive most of it's flaws, and fix even more with mods but the biggest problem for me is plot. it's boring, it's obvious, and worst of all, it's tied to a good half of quests in the game so i can't just ignore it until the last moment like in vegas (or forever like in skyrim) and not miss out on half of the game's content. it's a story-driven game with a crappy sory.

Well I got sick of Skyrim pretty fast, gave up at Whiterun. It just didn't do it for me either, I didn't see any story to follow, but that doesn't make it a bad game.

In FO4 I have left all the main plot too the last minute wit no problems at all, I didn't look for Kellogg till around Level 70 or enter the Institute till level 90, I restarted from Level 95 just before I killed Desmonda and pissed off the Brotherhood, and am doing Nuka world instead. Just ignore the story, there are still places I haven't found or explored yet.

I agree that this one is maybe the less constraining of the premises, but it's also the only one of the modern fallout that was only published by bethesda and not made by them. Of course that shows.

What I meant by this is that since the beginning  fallout has never been the best series to roleplay whoever you want. Although you could roleplay the hero mostly the way you want.  The act is, as soon as you are a Vault Dweller, there must be a reason why you get out and a reason that warrant your quest.

I was more put off by the fact you had to be a picturesque loving wife/husband/mother/father, how about an abusive wife or husband were you could spit at the face of your dead half? (Yeah I can see how that would go with critics right?) Still for me it is a minor issue.

I might be wrong but I think I saw there is a mod on the nexus that tries to turn the game in a sandbox game though...

Hi, I love the mod. How do you fix a large neck seam? It's very visable from the sides but not very when looking headon. Or should I just look for a leckless mod?

The gap is larger than it looks.post-259495-0-70990400-1474651753_thumb.pngpost-259495-0-04155800-1474651764_thumb.png

Never mind, I've fixed it. Turnes out it was a bodyslide/ preset issue. Don't use the 7B Upper slider with the deathclaw body as it causes neck gaps.

Managed to get that born dragon texture working in fallout 4 with the gimp 2 program as well. With a few modified steps, I got it working now. Now I've just got a few hand and face textures to port over, and I might upload them to a file storing site. I don't know yet.

Very nice. :)

Currently messing around with GIMP in order to make the scale layer semi-transparent over the bottom skin layer to make it seamless and smooth. If anyone knows how to create a player only face skin texture folder, I'd be very happy to be informed.

Well,can't anyone make a costume or a suite,like the ones made fo3/fnv?

Because it's been done already and posted a few pages ago?

Haven't a clue how well any of these will work for you, they work for me, and I've minimal knowledge in how to use such programs.

Here's pictures of what the skin looks like, I didn't do anything with the face textures cause that's not within my knowledge. Use this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3718/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D3718%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D3478115&pUp=1 if you only want this on yourself. I'm not an expert at any of this, have fun.

Skin is pretty much a mix between a generic skin mod and this one http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/63680/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D63680%26preview%3D&pUp=1.

I can't get your textures to show. What's your file structure like? Where have you put those texture files. I've tryed the Unique player body and the cbbe version plus the bodyslide files and they are not show up, just the normal cbbe textures.

File structure is exactly the same as required for unique player body. I didn't do anything special. Is your esp for unique player body activated?

Yeah, I've tryed it with the esp at the bottom of my load order and the top with no luck.

Nevermind I've got it working now. Just out of interest do you have the _n.dds & _s.dds files for the texture you made?

Only files I made were the ones here. Been working on making a smoother version with more prominent scales, and potentially a deathclaw body mod without the deathclaw claws being so long due to clipping errors. Sadly, had to work nonstop the past 4 days, not much time to work on game stuff.

More vivid scales would be nice. When I used only your texture files and no other n.dds or s.dds it gave a nice wet/gloss look and the  scales looked faded and you could see a difference in texture in where the body and neck connected. When used with the cbbe innie s & n.dds it looks quite nice. Have you thought about modding the deathclaw body v2 file a few pages back?  Thanks for modding :)

Yesss. Something new yet oldschool Fallout feeling - I get the Goris gitters playing my new character.

I am running a night-raider loner character and loving it. some people (who haven't played Fallout 2, missing out) might see this as odd and not lore friendly but I kinda like it for the Vault 13 throughback gone even more crazy.

I tried sorting out the face texture but the UV's are completely different, it's a shame, anyone got a replacement for this? I've got body and arms at the moment, otherwise I'll just keep the scarf.

I'll download the mod, and see about whether I can get them to meld well or not. GIMP's a rather easy program to use. I've also been talking with the mod author who made Born Dragon for skyrim for advice on texturing.

An overlay texture for the base CBBE skin?

It did not work as intended, and that's all the time I've got for testing today. Textures got all muddled. Probably just gonna try some pure snipping and put it at 80% opacity.
