poblivion Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Hi, yesterday I watched the official video of the new DLC for Fallout 4. It seemed to me that I saw Chaurus and trees the same as in Skyrim. Also, you've noticed?
Delzaron Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Could be nice. I will able to use them for modding a great ancients themed mod...
Orpheaned Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I have see the video. Fallout 4 are "Skyrim Post apocalyptic" version. (cool for mods) But, i expected the release of the GOTY version. For download crack, i've enough of recycled games (and steam) The world of video games has changed, in negative sadly. But, i love Fallout still.
alpalia Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 if you mean chaurus at 0:39 -0:40 .. then .. no, its not the same at all as for the trees, i cant say as i not care about this in skyrim, but still they look different to me. but i certifiate that the chaurus (if you talk about same as me) is not the same at all , check at 1:00 - 1:02 , thats the same as at 0:39, totally different piece of monster
Jeoshua Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Nah, not a Charus. That looks more like some hideously mutated praying mantis, or maybe an ant. And the trees aren't "from Skyrim", they're "from Speedtree, which Bethesda uses for their trees like always"
billypnats Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yea I thought it was a chaurus too but if you look at the new trailer released today you'll realize its not. I heard the weapons were kind of meh though
Frel Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Even if it is the case, I do not really see this as a huge problem. Here's the thing creating new assets take resource and time and as long as reusing old resource is consistent with the overall game design and feel, that means that now people that should have worked on creating the new asset (which for creature is not only the 3D model and textures but its skeleton, animations, ...) can work on something else that may be important. As for the trees as Jeousha mentioned the tree are generated by a tool used (developed too if I recall correctly) by Bethesda for their games that generates the trees for them, so indeed those trees may look similar from one gamer to another but again would you rather have the map maker spend his time placing trees or design the rest of the map ? If you want new assets created specifically for each the games and DLCs you then should expect: 1) the games release being far more spread out (it takes time to create new assets) 2) a bump in the price point on both games and DLC (it takes employees to make those and it's not like more people would buy the game) 3) possibly less ambitious games in scale to mitigate the 2 babove Personally I do not mind them reusing assets from one game to another as long as it is not too obvious (and by that I just mean immersion breaking) and they keep giving a good effort on still doing good games despite their flaws (reusing assets could be considered one albeit a minor one)
