So... who will we have to find in FO5?

FO3 - find dad

FNV - find the person who shot you with his load and left (for twice!)

FO4 - find son

It's almost like "finding someone" has become a regular course in FO installments, just like the story of every TES installment and DLCs is about gods and Daedra.

It happens that the main arcs of Beth's FOs are always about family, and by finding your family you got involved in something tremendous. FO3 is about finding your dad and then destroy the remnants of the Enclave, FO4 is about finding your son and then decide the fate of Massachusetts (Commonwealth). And it happens so, your family will always die no matter what.

Let's see what are the possibilities of whom we will find in FO5:

Parent Sibling Child Spouse Fiance Cousin Uncle/Aunt Grandparent

We've already found parent and child, so it wouldn't be very interesting if we're finding our mom or daughter in FO5.

Uncle/Aunt and cousin aren't really close relatives unless they raise you or grow up with you, but then there wouldn't be much difference with parent and sibling, same as grandparents.

This leaves spouse, sibling and fiance as the only options.

With a spouse in the game, until they are killed by the story, it wouldn't work well if you romance a follower. This greatly limits the freedom of the player and is definitely not a wise decision.

Therefore, I'd conclude that finding our sibling or fiance will be our initiative in FO5.

It will be a mission to find God, and during the quest you will meet your long lost, presumed dead, con-artist half brother.

There will be naked dancing girls in the desert, bad acting, bad writing.  Air brushing to make your butt not so big...

Oh wait.  That's Star Trek 5.

Lmao.

You will have to find your shadow.

i really dont think we will be seeing a fallout 5 or any fallout again, and elder scrolls game is next in the line up and i dont see another one coming out for a good 5 years at least

It will likely be a long time if ever.  They have a few DLCs to put out, plus yeah, Selene is right, I think ES is next up.  Will be a while unless something drastic happens.

First you find out you are a synth, then you find out the lone wanderer, the courier and Nora are to, so they still alive and you have to find them all and them embark on a 1 hour quest to find the graves of the real humans you were all modelled on. When you arrive you will find the real Shaun living there as a hermit 160 years old tending to the graves. No multiple ending

You find out that The Wanderer, The Courier, The Vault Dweller and The Chosen One are all part of one big extended synth family and you live happily ever after murdering deathclaws for their anal glands

That could be sooner than we think. If sales of FO4 stall quickly enough, that means it lacks long-term appeal to the masses and thus long-term profitability. Maybe not a direct sequel but another game by Obsidian, for example, would be most likely. The DLC will be the deciding factor if FO4 keeps going or crashes and burns. There's also the uncertainty of this Bethesda Workshop thing, resurrected by the beta for patch 1.3 which seems to invalidate all older mods when all it nominally does is fix bugs and add ESDF support for workshop mode for the PC.

The DLCs are almost guaranteed.  They put up the Season Pass, and I think enough were sold that unless they want to refund, they have to put something out, even if they are mediocre $4 or $5 DLC packs.  WHich is what I think they ended up doing with FONV...

I think you misunderstood. I wasn't saying there might not be DLC, I said the DLC will determine if this game redeems itself as anything but a mediocre shooter.

I wouldn't put much faith in that. The limitations on the creation kit and the persistence of modders will prove more important.

The way Beth has been sliding down since before Oblivion, I half expect the next Fallout game to not have any quests or missions at all anymore. Just some random stuff to shoot at, while leveling up through a pre-determined single branch perk tree, and that's it.

To say I have any faith in Bethesda anymore is an outright lie. And what modders do will mean nothing for them professionally. If the base isn't appealing on its own merits, then no amount of flavoring added by consumers will save their reputation, to say nothing of finances. FO4 did well initially, but as players put the word out about it being all action and no RPG it's long-term financial success is questionable. If the game doesn't deliver a steady financial stream over time, stockholders will look to greener pastures. The DLC is Bethesda's last chance to prove it can keep going as a serious RPG producer; what the players make out of it won't matter to stockholders since they won't make a penny off of such. If they try, then it could be worse than what happened to Steam. This isn't a gaming platform with a vested interest from other companies.

That said, let's get back to the subject of this thread. Which I can't really add to. The McGuffin shtick has been played to death in the series.

I think too many people think that only RPG players play Fallout 4 or any Bethesda game and limit what they see as an appealing game. what you may see as the death of Bethesda or their games isn't an actuality but one perspective that may be shared by a few. The only problem Bethesda will have is to be louder then the few negative voices out there.

Fallout 4 may or may not out sell Skyrim but it's sales are still strong enough to pay for it's development.

Fallout 4 outsold Skyrim in Pre-Orders by a landslide.

At over 14 million copy sold it just needs to sell 6 million more to match the sales Skyrim made over the span of its release to current day.

It also sold twice as much copy of Witcher 3 to date.

More to the point Fallout 4 will have mods for consoles and people that are slamming this concept haven't got a clue just how amazing that will be for Bethsada/Xenamax etc etc.

Fo4 is a success already despite whatever may come in the near or distant future.

Basically, don't expect awesome discounts of Fallout 4 anytime soon or you are setting yourself up to have plenty more to complain about LOL for real.

That last line threw me, I wasn't complaining. but anyway FO4 will have to sell over 1.2 billion dollars worth to top Skyrims 1.2 billion $$$ in sales (to date). no official sales have been published as far as I know for FO4 and the initial 720 million $$$ worth of units available at launch was just that available but weren't sell-throughs. XBONE and PS4 sales were extremely high here and in the UK <--especially. Broke records on steam as well. no idea on other countries haven't really looked. But I wasn't arguing FO4's sales just stating I haven't seen any official output by those that officially keep track. and I wouldn't expect FO4 to be in the bargain bin for at least a couple years, hell some places are still selling Skyrim at $49.99usd. But anyway just another opinion, nothing concrete afaik.

I see ppl aren't actually discussing about the topic :D

Anyway I enjoy FO4 more than any other games sold in 2014 and 2015 (including TW3), and I have no doubt that it will become one of the most popular games once the CK/GECK is released. After all, the core value of Beth games is modding, isn't it?

I think it should be "Find Your Own Game" , maybe its again finding a geck or autodoc type of game, or it could be also starts in a big empty space and you start your own fallout advanture all form scrach without the ain plot altoghter

Fallout 5: Find the Geck, and make your own damn Game

Punch Line: The Prelude to the next adventure is right between your ears

Note: Bethesda is not responsible for any bug's or delay's in releasing mod's for this Doom 8 engined next gen/past gen rpg/rts/fps platform.
