Mud Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I'm hoping someone who's experienced with ENBs can help me find one that suits my needs, particularly in knowing how they perform compared to each other. Previously, I used Seasons of Skyrim True HDR performance version, but I got tired of not being able to see crap in the dark so I thought I'd give Tranquility ENB's performance version a shot. It's certainly pretty but I was hoping to get better FPS than what I get- I pull about 30 FPS standing in the Whiterun marketplace in daytime, and I don't have any HD texture packs apart from my skin textures. So, might anybody be able to recommend ENBs that are visually similar to these two ENBs, but without being so dark in the... uh, dark, and performs better?
gvman3670 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I Can't Believe It's NOT an ENB. If you're worried about performance and want adjustability on the fly then check it out. It's not really an ENB, but it makes Skyrim way prettier than vanilla. Just another option.
vram1974 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Far Off Nirn ENB looks great in the day time and bright at night. You might not like it because it really is quite bright at night. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/539322/?
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 The only ENB I can vouch that will give you quality and performance is Zoners, It's outdated though. But shrutesh is known to do some nice ENBs with great performance. May not be the preset your looking for, but worth checking out. Just out of curiosity, what GPU are you running? Edit: I guess he's updated it recently. I'll have to check it out some time. Currently on one of Grim's preset.
Mud Posted June 30, 2015 Author Posted June 30, 2015 My graphics card is a recently acquired Zotac GTX 970, but my CPU's quite outdated. Built my PC back in 2011 with more budget-minded parts, and I've only upgraded the RAM and GPU since then. The main thing I'm looking for here is color, yet I don't want it too saturated either. Some ENBs also seemed to make the ground too bright, so similar light levels would also be ideal - just with nights and interiors closer to Tranquility's than Seasons'.
KatelynKat Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Personally I'd recommend Performance and Realism ENB. I have a strong computer, but nothing beats being able to keep those <10s loading times.
Veladarius Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 How things may look will differ depending on other mods installed, especially lighting mods. As for performance you can use a more graphically intense enb and disable effects or drop the AA down from the x16 they all seem to set it at.
Taskmaster Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 So, might anybody be able to recommend ENBs that are visually similar to these two ENBs, but without being so dark in the... uh, dark, and performs better? If those ENBs have the general appearance you want out of your game, you could use them as base and personally tweak from there, custom. If the ENBs are too dark, there should be some settings in the GUI itself that can help you with that, or you can swap some files, such as "effect.txt". There are some effect.txt resources - example (http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3274 ) - that have some settings you could adjust to help with brightness. "enbbloom.fx" is another. Most importantly, the settings within the GUI like pointlighting, ambientlighting, and directlighting in the [ENVIRONMENT] tag. You can increase the intensity of the light sources your game uses, to brighten up scenes while playing. Also remember that there's your gamma settings you can just in the default game as well.
Antrox Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Are you looking for a colorful ENB, or a combo of somewhat dark but retains a decent amount of color?
Mud Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 I prefer colorful, but not oversaturated. Something in between Seasons and Tranquility would be perfect, really - Tranquility's exteriors are pretty much exactly what I'd want in terms of color balance but there's the performance thing and interiors are a mite too... orange.
vram1974 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 You know what might help are these screenshots with FPS counter: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55973/?
myuhinny Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Currently I'm using one of Minoumimi's ENB's they are pretty good if you like gloss type ENB's. http://www.nekomods.com/category/enbThey also have them here on LL as well.
Mud Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 I actually gave that ENB Performance Comparison a look already, but not only is it featuring rather outdated ENB binaries, but I don't believe they accounted for performance versions, and the only one I was interested in trying, Evok ENB, was taken down for updating and never re-uploaded. The rest are really hard to get a good read for when the creator's self-described "mediocre" computer is making almost every ENB tank his FPS.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I'm currently on AIR ENB and it's nice. It's not over saturated and it has nice day light and even night nights. You can view the last 18 images at the bottom of my profile. They all are off AIR ENB. I am really loving it, but my GPU sucks so it's just for screenshots until I come around to having a better machine.

It's quite amazing the variety in framerates though.
Antrox Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 That looks pretty slick, yeah. Try one of Grim and Somber ENBs. They all have that feeling.
Mud Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately it seems both AIR and Grim and Somber's respective performance versions are either more taxing than or just as taxing as Tranquility, rather than less. I quite liked the softness AIR seemed to have and its exteriors looked nice, but its interiors left a bit to be desired. But a little more concerning is how AIR says to use Purity with it, and I'm not too fond of Purity making distant LODs stick out like a sore thumb after removing exterior fog.
Champis Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Give Natural Light and Atmospherics V 2,0 Beta, by Confidence Man. Its on the Nexus. Looks amazing on my system and performance friendly as well with the standard tweaks.
vram1974 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I just tried SkyRealism since I love how the specular maps look. Sadly the ENB is too bright during the day. Any other ENB that make armor and weapons look super shiny? Here's True Vision ENB. It's extremely lightweight, I can't believe I get 60 fps on an ENB. Not the greatest quality on the skin though. By the way, it's probably already known but it's easy to switch between ENBs quickly with this program: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57620/?
Mud Posted July 18, 2015 Author Posted July 18, 2015 Strange... has anyone ever heard of an ENB causing crashes? I'm running around with Tranquility and AIR some more, and I'm noticing that AIR has a tendency to crash when going outdoors after loading a save from an interior location. If I turn off the ENB through the UI before stepping outdoors, I can then turn it back on and go in and out at my leisure for the rest of that session, but I'm confused as to how it could be happening. And I've yet to see it happen at all with Tranquility.
Rayblue Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Here's True Vision ENB. It's extremely lightweight, I can't believe I get 60 fps on an ENB. Not the greatest quality on the skin though. It's a requirement for that preset to lower the brightness all the way to the left end. Also check the screenshots I made at the Counterpart thread using that preset.
