Erundil Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 SKSE Launch Patch View File YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE MY WORK IN PAID MODS. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------  SPECIAL EDITION ALSO EXISTS It's here: https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/11041-skse64-launch-patch/ It works a bit differently, but achieves almost the same result. USE EITHER THIS OR MOD MANAGERS Because of how mod managers work, my patch is incompatible with them. I'm not going to fix that - if you're using a mod manager, you don't need my patch anyway.HOW TO USE IT Just run it. Execute it. Start the EXE file. Oh, and of course you need SKSE installed. It's an SKSE patch after all.WHAT IT DOES This patch allows you to run Skyrim+SKSE: - from your regular Desktop shortcut - from Skyrim Launcher - from Steam client - or even starting TESV.exe directly - oh, the shortcut generated by SKSE will work too, but now you don't really need it  HOW IT WORKS When you run this patch: - it extracts it's own version of TESV.exe, which not only starts SKSE, but also hides its ugly command line window - right before extracting its own file, it renames official TESV.exe to TESV_original.exe - it edits or creates from scratch an INI file (SKSE.ini), which tells SKSE to work on TESV_original.exe instead of TESV.exeWHY IT'S SO AWESOME 1. 1. It's neat - doesn't pop up a console window, like regular SKSE does. 2. Because this patch will work with any version of SKSE, including those yet to come 3. Because it doesn't conflict with mods, that use their own SKSE.ini file, since it edits the file, not places a new one 4. In case of new Skyrim or SKSE version you only have to run the patch again 5. If you overwrite SKSE.ini with some mods, executing the patch again will solve the problem 6. Although this patch is written in English, it will work with any language version of the game Submitter Erundil Submitted 02/17/2015 Category Other Requires SKSE - any version for Skyrim Legendary Edition Special Edition Compatible No
LuffMeister Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Isn't this piracy? Â Does your modified TESV.exe still require all the Steam DRM authentications?
BillBellochek Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 I would love to use this mod, but it won't work for those of us who use Mod Organizer. Â Â Isn't this piracy? Â Does your modified TESV.exe still require all the Steam DRM authentications? Â This file is not piracy. Copyright infringement perhaps, but not piracy.
Blond Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I get one litte problem. If I start skyrim, I get a dialog "game not found | [ OK ]", but the game starts and skse is there. Any hint? Â
ttpt Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 your patches are really weird dude and seem kind of unnecessary, because you can accomplish the same thing via a shorcut, hell, anyone can make a steam shortcut that just points to the skse launcher, no need to modify .ini or .exe files. Plus I'd be careful downloading .exe files anyway. 2
Serithi Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Yeah, i'm really not sure what this mod's purpose is, considering the above post.
Erundil Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Isn't this piracy? Does your modified TESV.exe still require all the Steam DRM authentications? This file is not piracy. Copyright infringement perhaps, but not piracy. It's neither piracy nor copyright infringement. Read the description. My mod renames a file, and that's all. No harm in that. The new TESV.exe I install has nothing to do with Bethesda or Skyrim, it's a simple program that launches skse with a few parameters. The game with my patch will still start Steam if it's not running. And won't play if Steam DRM tests fail.  I would love to use this mod, but it won't work for those of us who use Mod Organizer.MO has its own way of starting the game with and without SKSE. If you use MO, you have no need for my patch. I get one litte problem. If I start skyrim, I get a dialog "game not found | [ OK ]", but the game starts and skse is there. Any hint? It has nothing to do with my patch. The only error message my patch displays is: Error! Something went wrong. Probably skse_loader.exe is missing. your patches are really weird dude and seem kind of unnecessary, because you can accomplish the same thing via a shorcut, hell, anyone can make a steam shortcut that just points to the skse launcher, no need to modify .ini or .exe files. Plus I'd be careful downloading .exe files anyway. My patches are weird? Ok, your opinion was heard. Also you can't be more wrong, when you call my patch unnecessary. You CAN'T accomplish what it does with just shortcuts. And even if you could, you'd have to create those shortcuts manually. Read the description again. Tell me what kind of shortcut will make your game start with SKSE, when you press "Play" in Skyrim Launcher? The biggest advantage of my patch is that it doesn't change anything from user perspective. You install it and you operate the game as you always had - nothing changed, except it runs with SKSE. Shortcuts are crude and ineffective. Also since I've heard your opinion, now you hear mine - I think you're a little paranoid. I'm not making anyone to download a plain, unwrapped EXE. I could, but instead I pack it in 7z archive so you can scan it with your antivirus before the EXE has a chance to do anything. But if you don't trust me and your antivirus, don't download this patch. No one is forcing you. Yeah, i'm really not sure what this mod's purpose is, considering the above post.Considering my answer to the above post, you may have noticed that it was misleading.
ttpt Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I mean, I have nothing against you and I see your intention in modifying TESV.exe is so that SkyrimLauncher.exe can launch a version of TESV.exe with skse on it. Â I call it unnecessary because I have a shortcut to skse_loader.exe that accomplishes everything you've set out to do, I haven't seen the skyrim launcher in years. Steam also has an option to add a non steam game to your library, which you can use to add skse_loader.exe as a game and it'll be on your list of steam games. Â I mean, I have no doubt you have some technical capabilities, but you're over complicating yourself, and reinventing the wheel into some other geometric figure when shortcuts are a perfectly easy to understand way to do it. Â But seriously, you make it sound like creating shortcuts manually is a very hard thing to do, when they've been around in operating systems for over 20 maybe 30 years. Plus creating a shortcut to skse_loader.exe will make skyrim launch with skse straight away, and even if you update skse you don't need to recreate the shortcut, much less run a patch to update whatever it is you're doing. 3

Perhaps you're right. Maybe. Probably. Yet I've never heard about shortcuts, that let you run game+SKSE by pressing "Play" in Skyrim Launcher. Please let me know how to set a shortcut that does that, because I've no idea how to set it up. How about you write a guide about setting the shortcuts? I'm sure people will find it very useful and drop my patch in favor of shortcuts (if they are indeed better, that is). Just keep in mind, that setting the shortcuts takes time and effort, while my patch only requires pressing Enter a few times. Â Mentioning just as a fun fact: I considered making a program that would create the shortcuts. That was my first idea. I switched to what my patch is now because I considered its present form as more convenient (e.g. possibility to run SKSE from launcher), elegant and easier to troubleshoot in case people mess things up, and they usually do. (There is a saying in my country, that if someone is stupid enough, he'll be able to render a metal ball non-functional).
xXDeliteXx Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Isn't this piracy? Â Does your modified TESV.exe still require all the Steam DRM authentications? Why would you care anyways? It's your morals and your computer for your own personal use. If you paid for the Steam version but the file doesn't check Steam validations. I'm pretty %200 sure you didn't pirate anything. 1
Erundil Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 (...) If you paid for the Steam version but the file doesn't check Steam validations. I'm pretty %200 sure you didn't pirate anything. That's common sense, but copyright law enforcement might disagree. Since when common sense had anything to do with actual law There are plans to punish people for using BitTorrent network, no matter what you download, just for using torrents. I hope they dismiss it in my country...
Todd420 Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Good stuff and it's appreciated but I solved the problem with a somewhat elaborate batch file after I edited the LE executables to run in a 64 bit memory space. I can't share them for obvious reasons which I don't think steam or beth would appreciate. The things we do for the sake of HDT. Thanks though.

Yes you can do it with shortcuts but I prefer batch files and scripts to them because you can do a lot more with them with regard to system priority.
DeniseAshantii Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 What a shame. This does not work as intended and royally fucked over my game. Thanks alot. 1

dodolkecik Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 How to undo this guys? It says it can't find the file. What's going on here, can't find TESV_Original.exe?? And it suggests to remove the runtime line, and when I did it, it says couldn't inject DLL.. please help
Erundil Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 Half of those error messages aren't even from my launcher... I have the source code, I know what messages my program can show. Dude, your files must be horribly messed up. If you want to deal with mods, the very important thing to learn is - you don't just uninstall mods. You are not supposed to. My program can be uninstalled, but in most cases uninstalling mods will screw you big time. So don't experiment on your main installation, make a copy before trying a new mod.  Anyway, uninstalling my mod is fairly simple. 1. Delete TESV.exe 2. Rename TESV_original.exe to TESV.exe 3. Delete Data\SKSE\SKSE.ini  Except, judging by the error messages you are getting, the program failed to even find the files I'm telling you to delete now... I'm not sure how you messed your game this much. Are you using a mod manager? Mod Organizer? Vortex? Nexus Mod Manager?  You are better off reinstalling EVERYTHING. Your entire game. And then all the mods. All of them.

I haven't even finish installing the game and mods as we speak.. so many issues that never happen before now appeared out of nowhere and I have no clue how to fix them. Searching internet for solutions now, experiencing crashes that never happen before too.. I am crying deep down man. Â Can you or anyone help me for this at least? I forgot people still use that crap, I thought everyone uses Mod Organizer 2 by now. Just because of you I'm editing the description of my mod. Let me quote the new text: "USE EITHER THIS OR MOD MANAGERS Because of how mod managers work, my patch is incompatible with them. I'm not going to fix that - if you're using a mod manager, you don't need my patch anyway." Â I hope this answers your questions. I am sorry for the confusion as the old description didn't say "mod managers". It said "mod organizer".
