SO i re-installed my skyrim after a few bugs and random unclean mods

guys which Comapnion mod is the best ATM

i had AFT for a long time but now i want to try something new

Also should i get Perma or SPERG + a random perk mod, and does this shit screws with any modded companions?

I used AFT since I first started modding Skyrim, but on my most recent playthrough, I tried EFF v4.0.

I like it a lot. What i particularly like is the interface with the UI wheel. Obviously the worst thing about AFT was its dialogue-driven system, which made interacting with followers a rather slow process.

EFF also comes with the ability to set follower homes, so the "My Home is Your Home" mod isn't necessary. There might be a number of things EFF can't do (e.g. tell followers to setup camp) and it may not have as many options, but it's a much more streamlined follower mod and is much easier to issue commands (as well as to the entire group) so overall I like it better. AFT might have some additional options, but for the most common tasks, EFF is much easier and quicker to use.

One note: If you use Convenient Horses, make sure to uncheck the Horse option in EFF. Otherwise if you have more than one follower, only the most recently added follower will summon a horse. If you run into this bug, uncheck the Horse option in EFF, dismiss all your followers, and then re-recruit them again.

There is a compatibility patch for Convenient Horses if you use EFF just have to check the nexus. Google-fu is your friend.

Perma or SPERG don't effect companions.

What google search terms are you using? I'm not finding this comparability patch you're referring to.

I'm not sure why it's necessary eiterh, since the EFF horse feature is already handled by Convenient Horses. Wouldn't it be better to just disable the EFF horse feature in the MCM rather than have another esp patch taking up a spot in the the load order?

One thing I don't like about EFF: followers aren't very smart--they always set off traps or run into them.

It's incredibly annoying. I can deliberately go around the trap, and the followers behind me will all set it off, sometimes twice!  OTL. And if there are swinging blade traps, the followers still follow behind and will gladly stand in the path of the blades! OTL x2. I had this happen once even after telling them to wait (one of them ran ahead of me for some reason). If they weren't essential, I don't know what I'd do. I also miss the auto-relax feature from AFT. Followers also sometimes fall behind and get lost if I have a few with me.

Bottom line: EFF gives a nice streamlined vanilla follower experience. AFT followers are smarter, but the UI is clunky.

If you used all of the features AFT has, then stick with AFT.

If you found yourself not using all of AFT's features and want it straight to the point and seamless, go EFF.

There is no "best", it's preference.

AFT is better in number of features. But terible dialogue system and its "heavy on system" and few mods have problem with it. Better Ai for me.

EFF have perfect wheel control system and range controling, its realy light. Working with everythink and need less patch then aft. But it have less features.

Both mod are good.

AFT has really been the most functional and least need for patches and fiddling follower mod I've used.

I used to use UFO back after 2012 or so but eventually migrated to AFT because UFO and EFF needed a lot of patches (at the time) to work with various stuff...AFT just..worked with everything and rarely had any issues.

I still use it now, its largely been pretty good to me.

I use AFT and I like it but it seems to be seriously broken with Boethia's quest. You can massage things a bit but that means you don't get the ebony blade charges (and it's just odd plaing in the dark like that)

I tried EFF for the first time this play through.  The interface, while less immersive, is way more efficient.  What I don't like about EFF is that my followers sometimes have strange behaviours.  They run into me constantly.  Often times they will take off running even if it is into a wall.  I've also noticed that they aren't always combat aware and will take a hit or two before drawing their weapon.  I also had a follower disappear while my character told her to wait.  Now and then they will get left behind but I think that happens to all followers, even in vanilla.

I could be happy with EFF and the quirky behavior I listed above isn't gamebreaking or even too annoying, plus the interface is so slick but I'm going back to AFT for my next game.  I just find the ai more to my liking with AFT.

I use EFF with FollowerLivePackage and it's a great combination. With EFF I can recruit any NPC in the game including bandits and such. And Follower Live Package adds everything else like making the follower feel like another person is controlling them. They'll walk around doing their own thing and can even be healers. I love it.

EFF is by far the best of the follower managers. Especially since Expired coded it, and you can be sure his coding is pretty clean. I rather use EFF just for that fact, because I can trust the quality of the scripts I'm injecting into my game by using his mod.

EFF is better. AFT has some stuff that EFF doesn't, like vamp transformation and wardrobe management, but it's been abandoned for some time. EFF is supported, better coded and lighter.

Now if you were asking between FLP and EFF, hmm, that would be a tough question to answer.

I've used AFT for a long time specifically for the outfit management, I haven't run into any major issues with it OTHER than Devious Devices.  It doens't seem to play nicely with those, it removes the DD item and puts it in the NPCs back, then never put's it back on.  Not a major issue, but a little annoying.

I have looked into EFF, and the newest version (4.0) is out of beta and supposedly includes some type of outfit management, but I cannot find any specifics on it.  Does anyone know for sure if there are outfit mechanics in the new version and let us know how well they work?

Im curious. Can you set your followers stats in EFF like you can in AFT? so you can pick 35 destruction skill 30 restoration and so on?

Or do they just auto scale with level?

And does EFF has a trap immunity mechanic so followers dont set off traps left and right?

I installed AFT - it was more dialogue options, into more options and then some more... Then EFF and it is instant love with the wheel menu (you can set it to dialogue however if you like things hard way). It had most of the features , minus outfits change in cities, adjusting skills , tweak spells. But you can teach spells (follower needs to have required skill) and use some AI presets ( i guess those are vanilla AI options ?) no idea if they can skill up the skills. But its script light so fewer problems with other mods.

As for PerMa - it just changes too much, there is really no way to tell  what mods can cause problems and some changes are just unrequired complications (like the new armor stats - why make me reproc on every armor add)
