Veladarius Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) View File Horse Stabling for Cities and/or Hearthfire Tired of your horse having to stand outside in the rain or snow when there is a perfectly good stable right there? Want your horse to use those stables you worked so hard to build? Well, now you can! Want that lazy steward of yours to do something other than sit at the dinner table and be useful? Want to see the hostler at the stables do something other than stand around? Now you can make use of the stables outside the major cities of Skyrim and/or the ones you have built. Now you can use the stables outside cities as well as the (mostly unused) stables outside your homes from the hearthfire DLC. Simply ride up to the stable, dismount and walk away. The local hostler or steward of that home will come out and walk them into the stables. If there is no one there (not hired or dead) the horse will walk themselves in and wait for you to return. There are 3 versions and one expansion available: Cities only - use this version if you don't have the Hearthfire DLC. Cities + Hearthfire - use this version if you have the Hearthfire DLC and want this feature at the city stables. Hearthfire only - use this version if you have the Hearthfire DLC and don't want this feature at cities or have mods that change those stable layout or location. Immersive Stables expansion - for use with the Immersive Stables mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52391/? Note- The locations added for Immersive Stables do not have an npc put your horse away, it will just walk in on its own. I considered having the innkeeper do it but some locations do not have npc friendly navmeshes between the door and the stables. This does not cover the locations for Cities or Hearthfire, the esp for those is required for those locations but not required for this version to run. Requirements: Hearthfire DLC (for Hearthfire version) Immersive Stables (for the Immersive Stables expansion) Updating: Simply uninstall the old and install the new, you can probably just overwrite the old version as the new will overwrite it. Conflicts: Any mods that change the location or layout of the stables outside the cities - use non city version. Any mods that change the location or layout of the stables outside the Hearthfire homes - use non Hearthfire version Is compatible with Convenient Horses but if you have the horse set to follow you it will follow you once the scene is finished. JRCosta Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Nice, immersion FTW. Finally something to do for those lazy sexy stewards Thank you.
Verstort Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I can't confirm yet if this mod works, my old save is too bugged to use for testing, and my new save doesn't have a house yet, or a horse Trying with the old save has a strange bug that might not be reproducible or even relevant to this mod. When I mount the horse, and try to run as the horse, the camera flies quickly off to the distance and the horse vanishes, leaving my character alone. Horse comes back if I fast travel, nothing happens if I dismount my horse outside of my house. Again, this is most likely irrelevant and should probably be ignored.
Veladarius Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Most all of the mechanics are in the trigger, the quest just holds the aliases and scenes to control the horse and steward. I originally made the script for the stable at Captured Dreams and decided to use it for the stables at those houses.
darkconsole Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 such a simple concept that i've often wondered about. cheers vel.
GreatCroco Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 You really should upload this to Nexusmods. A far better way for people to track if there is a new version available.
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 I am going to make a version that works with the stables outside the cities as well then release it there. Since there are mods that modify the exterior of cities I will probably end up with versions that cover just the city or just the Hearthfire homes and one that does both.
Veladarius Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Added versions for Cities and Cities + Hearthfire.
dje34 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 That's a really nice idea, Veladarius ! Thanks for modding, updating and sharing !
Veladarius Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 This was in Skyrim Mods Weekly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlEiM1BMa9U I am working on fixing some issues with the horses wandering off if the scene does not finish, I am testing the fixes now. I have also made a version for Immersive Stables that I will release at the same time as the update.
aqqh Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Not sure what happened but my horse got MIA once when i parked it near the CD stables. Horse call shout (convenient horses) was giving me info of "you cannot do that here" even if i was in the outside world. Most funny part - when i used console command player.moveto 00068d74 (my horse, the black one from whiterun) i landed inside of CD Barracks building... Well, at least horse wasn't inside as this would be rich Wild guess is for some reason horse kept his package to follow stable guy for a bit too long. Horse was back after i fast traveled.
Veladarius Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 I updated the script so that the alias that the horse uses is cleared once the horse is moved or 60 seconds, whichever is first. Of course, he may have just really liked your horse and wanted some privacy.
Veladarius Posted January 31, 2015 Author Posted January 31, 2015 I have updated the Hearthfire versions, the script will now check to see who the steward is so it will use them in the scene. Whenever you enter the trigger area on horseback it will check and update if needed.
myriad Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks, nice mod, indeed always hated the fact that my noble steed was left in the cold. Foound one "problem": if the mod is after convenient horses you can't mount your horse after you dismounted. Moving it before convenient horses fixes this issue.
Veladarius Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 I have my mod at load position CC and Convenient Horses at 84 and have not had any problems mounting either once the scene started or afterwards.
Harbringe Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Basic Question . Does the horse stay stabled if you fast travel
Veladarius Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Basic Question . Does the horse stay stabled if you fast travel Truthfully, I have been using a mod that blocks fast travel when not mounted I don't remember if they travel with you or not when not mounted. The mod will not keep it from happening if it does as the Alias used to move the horse is cleared after 60 seconds.
RitualClarity Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Dammit... You are going to force me to install more mods... .. Nice idea by the way. Very Cool. Next time I am working on my Skyrim I will have to give that a run. Funny thing is that is something I would think Besthesda would have done from the start.
Veladarius Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Considering how simple it is I don't know why they didn't, the hardest part was the logic to determine if you had actually left your horse there or not. The script that runs it is in the trigger box and the quest holds the scene and the aliases for the horse and stewards.
RitualClarity Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I guess they were lazy and thought... Hell let the modding community fix our game..
Veladarius Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Doesn't surprise me considering how much unfinished stuff there is in this game.
RitualClarity Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Yep.. they say .. let the modders finish it... They would be in trouble if they ever prevented the modding community from modding the game.. They would actually have to create a finished game.. Still finished or not.. got to love them for their willingness or lazyness to allow us the ability to mod the game. Not many other companies have this open of a game system to mod.
nutluck Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I have not tried the mod yet but I didn't see this mentioned in the OP. Is there a MCM option where it costs gold to stable a horse? If not any chance you might add it as a option? I only ask cause I am always looking for ways to immersively drain gold from my characters since after awhile it gets silly easy to have tons of gold.
