I have been trying to find the source(s) of game instability in Skyrim for a long time now. Until recently, I didn't understand much of what is stated in ta Papyrus log. Today, while reading through the most recent log, I have found a reference to Helgen Reborn. I haven't used Helgen Reborn since sometime last year.

Now I'm thinking that maybe Skyrim is trying to make references to many mods that I just don't use any more. I have no idea how many of these there may be, but I'll be looking over that log for the next few days to determine just that.

Before anyone recommends disabling the Steam cloud, I disabled that a long time ago, probably before using Helgen Reborn; I tried to create an NPC follower early on in my PC version of Skyrim play throughs, and all that happened was the NPC somehow ended up combined with my player character.

We can all imagine how chaos ensued after I reinstalled Skyrim, and nothing had changed, and I was too N00by to fix it permanently at the time.

I have completely reinstalled Skyrim many times over, and it still happens. There shouldn't be any leftover mod parts hiding anywhere that can cause this, but I shouldn't be anything less than a millionaire either.

First of all, choose a good title for the topic, so that other people can find a solution and not "Holy shit! Big problem!"

So when you're uninstalling mods, those entries will be saved in your .. savegame. littleman meant "did you start a new game" (open Skyrim, click New, watch your logs) and not "did you reinstall Skyrim and load your old save". And did you try the Save game scrip cleaner?

Ok, so I'll title threads as I choose.

I don't have ANY saves; the log I posted was just from trying to create a character. I can't keep a save stable long.

Script cleaners are no help in this. I have tried the one you linked, but it doesn't find anything that actually corrupts saves, in my experience.

Also, if I seem like I'm being a dick, I'm just distracted, and not meaning anything of the sort.

If that's the bit you meant, read it again. And again.

"Helgen Reborn.esp" does not exist or is not currently loaded.

I'm not sure what would be more clear than that? arth_lal is Live another life, it's just checking if helgen reborn is loaded so it can make adjustments on how it works if it is. Nothing to worry about that, many mods check for presence of others and adjust accordingly. And yes, you really need more descriptive titles.

edit: But I'm curious, even my 2013 save doesn't have that much entries about LAL.

If it weren't having someone point out that this is from Alternate Start, I wouldn't know the difference; scripts make no sense to me, which is why I can't progress beyond early stages of building mods.

I'm very grateful that there are at least some people who don't treat others as though we all were spit from the womb knowing all of this.

No, nobody will know what to do about this from a descriptive title; yes it does actually require getting in here and reading it.

I searched for any files at all that contain "ARTH_QF_LAL." They don't exist in my scripts folder, data folder, skyrim folder, or even steam folder. I'm getting a lot of Papyrus noise for nothing.

Well, acting pitiful won't help you. While I could have written in a less straight forward way, I see nothing in my posts which was too offensive.

You can't find the LAL-scripts because they are in the "Alternate Start - Live Another Life.bsa". I'd recommend writing in Arthmoors thread or at least using the nexus' topic search function.

When you uninstall Skyrim via the Steam interface, your not actually emptying the contents of the mods. This is one of the most common errors made, when I read "I re-installed the game dude." I actually have had people go on at length about how they uninstalled and later redacted.

So when you uninstall your game this time here's the advice I want you to follow.

1st uninstall all mods from NMM

2nd uninstall through Steam.

3rd open up the actual Skyrim folder in Steamapps.

4rth move all contents to the recycle bin, empty that thing.

5th Delete NMM and walk away from that POS

6th Re-install the game.

7th Open game via Steam make INI file close game

8th Download Mod Organizer

9th Watch the tutorials on how to use it

10 Do as tuts say

This is true. In fact, last time I reinstalled Skyrim was immediately after a OS reintallation. It looks like I need someone to impart information in a manner that breaks my distracted state. Like I stated in an earlier post, I was distracted. With your post, I seem to be able to focus on what is being said. Thank you.

You really have me considering giving MO another try.

As to whaere to find those tutorials for MO, are they all on Youtube?

This is a related problem. Not that Papyrus referencing mods from last year is related, but, now that I understand that that's not what happens, I have moved on to targeting a problem that I recognized as being a part of my "Big Problem!" Yes it is big.

I also developed the habit of hunting down every reference to Skyrim on my computer and deleting it as a means of completely uninstalling it. I did figure that out a while back.
